David
Given that when they fought last time Silva had a broken rib claiming he's ducking him is ridiculous. I guess the only thing that may add to that kind of thought is the fact that both Silva and Ed Soares have been very vocal about Sonnen not being worthy of a title shot, and that Silva has said he has no interest in fighting him again. Â Comments like this aren't exactly going to help his cause; Â
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted November 21, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 21, 2011 I truly believe that when they fight the next time Silva's going to completely show him up. How many people (I can't be bothered trawling through the thread) on here were claiming that Okami was going to trouble Silva since he had the wrestling & the 'Sonnen' gameplan had exposed Silva's weakness etc. etc. I agree that Chael probably poses the biggest challenge but IMO a healthy Silva vs a clean Sonnen will be a different fight altogether. Anderson's just that far above everyone else in the division.
David
I think Silva wins the next fight as well, but neither him nor Soares are doing themselves any favours by moaning about the fight. Sonnen is the clear #1 contender, and the fight is going to sell very well. Â I don't see the problem.
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted November 21, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 21, 2011 Agree with all of that. I always just read it that they thought Sonnen was a prick & in their opinion (and after all that's all it is) shouldn't be so near a rematch/title shot after all his 'antics'. They both know Silva will fight whoever the UFC give him but it's the claim that he's somehow ducking Sonnen that I have trouble with.

Yeah, I don't believe he's ducking Sonnen either, but it's not hard to see why some people may think that. What I would like to ask Soares is, if Sonnen isn't the #1 contender, then who is? Â Only yesterday he threw Hendersons name into his list of guys that he doesn't think Anderson should fight.
pryko
Anderson Silva could fight Sonnen right now, injured shoulder strapped up for all to see, and still beat Sonnen again. Last fight they had was a total fluke in my eyes. Â I do like Chael, and I do believe he's worthy of a 2nd title fight, but Anderson Silva beats him everyday of the week and twice on Sundays
Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted November 21, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 21, 2011 Dana confirmed in an interview with Ariel a few days ago that Silva has agreed to fight him. The injury obviously will delay it but it's going to happen. I also pick Anderson to beat him convincingly.
David
I also pick Anderson to beat him convincingly. I pick Anderson to win, but I'm not sure he blows Chael away. In fact, I don't think anyone blows Sonnen away to be honest. It'll be a war, and I'd probably go with Silva via submission in the 3rd.
