Walter Smith's run to the UEFA Cup Final was astonishing really. Club was in the shit, but the players were playing out their skins. Nacho Novo was like Lionel Messi for that one season. It unravelled very quickly. Photo here also sums up Walter Smith for me. Always the guy to calm shit down. Jim McLean and Walter Smith said the ref was on the take for that Roma match...and he was...caught 20 years later.. (Match is the bent match between Roma vs Dundee Utd in the Semi-Final). Could have been a Liverpool vs Dundee Utd European Final. How mental would that have been?

Why were Channel 4 showing the documentary? Bit random.

I know. Whenever I watch it I almost want England to win.
Probably what cost him the England job sadly. Be too nice. Can you imagine any other England manager doing that? Venables probably would have.
RIP Walter Smith. Absolute legend.

I think it started going downhill when they would stick a random film on. Could have been between 8 or 10pm. After that, you knew it was sadly struggling.

Fourscore? That was David Dundas. Did ident themes for ITV franchises too
Lord David Dundas, for some reason now. Did a song about jeans in the 70s, then moved onto theme music.

It's amazing how long it lasted, considering.

Michael Caine plays such a bastard in that "Mona Lisa". Brilliant stuff.

It was a great channel a few years ago when I was pimping it then. TPTV seemed to have access to all those 70s softcore films with Robin Askwith. I wish they offered an online service. I'd happily subscribe.
"Restless Natives" is a great film. Big Country done the soundtrack.

In fairness that did rid Ireland of rape.Â
That also clears up the woman in the Anti-Heroin Project video who looks like she will glass someone is; it's Hazel O Connor, queen of the ultra-naff charity single.Â
..and of that very shite film "Breaking Glass".

My girlfriend showed me this not long ago. It's one of those charity singles that came out in the wake of Band Aid. It's quite remarkable.Â
ÂIt's got a couple of heavy hitters (Bonnie Tyler, Cliff, Holly Johnson, a Bee Gee), some lesser lights (Marillion, Hayley Mills, Lofty from Eastenders) but we failed to name quite a large portion. There's one woman who looks like she's going to chin someone, and a Charles Bronson lookalike:
What an awful song. Recognised the ones you mentioned. I wonder how they got John Parr (St. Elmos Fire [Man in Motion] ) in? I seen Suggs in the background too.

I read something about the robot being taken out the supposed "Rocky 4 - Directors Cut" that's supposedly coming out and the robot creator being pissed off. It was used for disabled people in care homes until a few years ago..
and, yes, Paulie did f*ck the robot..

We go to the Northern Irish league where Goalkeepers chin their own defenders and get sent off for it...

An absolute genius for library music. Sad. Very sad. RIP.

Hi. I bought a tablet. A "Venturer" 10.1 incher. Has a wee keyboard and everything. One problem. Power seems to run out very quickly. Any ideas on how to fix it? I quite like it for the keyboard. Wouldn't want to simply not use it. Running Android 10.

What was the deal with Silver Vision losing the WWE DVD contract? Simply outbid by Freemantle? I read a story on here but it can't possibly be true, so I won't repeat it until somebody hits me with me it. Yeah!

I watched the new Candyman today. It's not very good, not scary and lacks all the amazing subtlety, mood, cleverness and atmosphere of the wonderful original. However it's intentions were good so I can't say I hated it. I liked the last 2-3 minutes of it quite a bit.
They've remade "Candyman"?!?!? Holy Jeebus. Do they have that bit where people are in the police lineup and each one says something like "Give me the money bitch!" or something (after the woman gets jumped)? Always cracks me up. Original was brilliant, even "Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh" had a fair few gory moments. Avoid everything after.

Yeah, the survivors now are pretty much Glenda, Barry, one of the Policemen, Hobbo (Russ Abbott), and Alvin (Brian Murphy from off of out of George And Mildred and Man About The House).Â
I remember Barry basically melting rather than getting older. I genuinely thought Russ Abbott had passed away.

Robert Fyfe, best known for playing Howard in Last of the Summer Wine actor has passed away at 90 years of age.
Everybody in this show must be dead now. Mumzie's fave show.

I remember reading that John Challis hated being remembered as being Boycie. He finally came around. Classically trained actor and all that. Very posh.

That's brilliant and probably still true now. "Trish and the Gink sitting next to her".

"Saint and Greavsie" was bloody hilarious. "Aw-rite Saint" was a catchphrase in this house for a few years. Hilarious chemistry between the two with Ian St. John playing the "straight" man to Jimmy's jokiness. RIP Jimmy.

Playing Away (1986) (All 4)
A rural village invites a Cricket team from Brixton for a friendly game to celebrate its Third World Week. More about race relations and the clashing of cultures with a Cricket match thrown in. Could almost be a pilot for Desmond’s. Despite the great Norman Beaton, didn’t think much of this. Must also feature one of Ross Kemp's earliest TV appearances.
I hope this is still on All4. Meaning to watch it. Ross Kemp was in a lot of stuff before "Eastenders". He was in "Emmerdale" too and even "Birds of a Feather".
First thing I think of when I heard the name Ross Kemp is when he was in Glasgow and interviewing some guy who kept his dismembered toe on the TV. Feck Eastenders.

Anybody here old enough to remember watching "Ghostwatch" live on the BBC TV in 1992? Place full of young yins now? I must admit to nearly sharting myself but there you go. Looks really, really shit now. Still the odd bit gets me though (like where that strange voice starts appearing, or where you spot a random "Pipes the Ghost" sighting). Probably couldn't do it now. I'd love to see someone try it.
