As mentioned earlier, their share price hasn’t been dented at all really .

I would have thought it would have dropped significantly but no…

Outside of wrestling, do people care ?

People may care from the perspective of 'Oh that's horrible' etc but beyond that I sadly doubt it. Professional wrestling is seen as the lowest form of entertainment in most circles anyway. The general non fans think only idiots or weirdos watch it/enjoy it and it only ever gains mainstream traction for the negative stuff.

Advertisers and decision makers won't care as long as it is seen as a good investment.

'This company is run by a paedophile and a drug addict, Sir'

    'Yes, but is it profitable?".

He could cash in on Cody immediately after he wins the belt on the show after Mania. He said he was going to finish the story, but he was never promised a happy ending.

Absolutely. It totally fits the Cody character. He finally defeats the undefeatable Reigns. He completes his story....and then Priest cashes in and steals it.

Instant heat on Priest and Cody now has to get it back. It was stolen from him just like it was from his Dad. It's perfect for the story arc.

Contract signing angles I didn’t mind in the days when all matches were pre arranged whether we saw them signed for, they were announced up front or not. But after 25+ years now of matches just happening spur of the moment, I feel there’s inconsistency in whether contracts are needed for matches or not.

Genuine question - is this a UFC thing? Do they do big production weigh-ins/confrontations for all fights on the show or just the main ones?

I'm just trying to figure out whether it is influenced by something like that.

Poor Santana. Refuses to return as a tag team with Ortiz, insists he wants to be a singles competitor, has the Ortiz feud play out exclusively on Rampage, wins the blow-off, vanishes for months, and then it’s Ortiz who returns to TV first.

Just reform the tag team already, mate. It’s over.

What happened with those two? A real life falling out? Was it over anything in particular or just that Santana wanted to go singles?

If there's a bidding war going on, it's not too clear they would put someone in NXT. It's still not certain Jade Cargill will end up there for a stint.

Nah, she's turning up next weekend and winning the Royal Rumble ;)

He'll be over for one show. What about all the other shows? The fucking OC were over for the Bizarro World Raw one year, and then it's been dead silence every single time since then. They need time for Okada to get over in WWE, the fanbase is different, younger and not as immersed in non-American wrestling as AEW's.

Indeed, so it will be all down to how he is presented and pushed (like every wrestler).

But that’s why he got such a big reaction on Smackdown. Which is the point I was making.

NXT is no longer the super Indy it was then so if he goes there, it wouldn’t be the same at all. Considering the boom in NJPW and the creation of AEW, he’s a more known name in America then Shin was at the time, and yet if the debut him on Raw I imagine the crowd would be mild.

He doesn't need to go to NXT. It was about how Nakamura was presented and pushed.
Sure, it didn't happen overnight (although he WAS over in his initial appearance in NXT) but what was done with him (by HHH no less) in that time.
If you debut him in front of a post-WM crowd, which is generally a 'smart' crowd, and nail the presentation there is no reason why, much like Nakamura, he will (initially at least) not get or be over.

Two time NXT Champion Nakamura? Who was already featured on NXT for a year during one of its most popular periods?

Yup. That guy. He was presented rather well, don't you think?

None of this will happen in WWE. Some fans and some markets will know him but imagine the reaction if he's bunged out on a Raw in Mississippi compared to a Dynamite anywhere.

I imagine the same was said about Shinsuke Nakamura when he signed... and then this happened

Maybe this is the kick up the arse New Japan need. They have relied to heavily on Okada. I think they need to start pushing some of their younger talent.

I'm not a big follower but Yota Tsuji looks the business and Umino, Uemura and O-Khan seem like they could be something.

Am I wrong in that assessment?

Been confirmed now by New Japan.

So...where does he end up? All signs seem to indicate AEW but apparently him and Nakamura are good pals. I reckon this regime would be better with Okada than Vince would (that's damning with faint praise, I know) and beyond a massive pay cheque I can't see the appeal for AEW. After all, why leave New Japan if he wants to work for AEW? He could still work both couldn't he?

The phrase if you've seen one Young Bucks match you've seen them all is also bullshit. There are far more worse offending wrestlers in doing the same spots every match then them anyway. It's a lazy Cornette insipid trope.

I never said they are the only offenders or indeed the worst offenders. However by your own words you are acknowledging that they do the same spots every match - so where's the issue?

Obviously, like who like and no one is obligated to be a fan of anyone, but I'm amazed that this is still an opinion that exists about the Bucks in 2024.

It's true though. If you've seen one Young Bucks match you've seen them all.

Ripley vs Lynch may seem too obvious, but I still think they'll do it anyway. And if I get my way, Bayley/Bianca/Banks vs Damage CTRL. LOL.

I'm picking Jade Cargill for the Rumble win. I reckon the initial plan was Rhea v Becky and Jade v Charlotte. Both scream 'big time' to me.
Sadly, now Charlotte's out I don't know who they would put Jade with if indeed she did win. Maybe a 3 way v Rhea v Becky?

I'm actually pretty excited for the Rumble and it will be the first WWE show I watch spoiler free for about 3 or 4 years. I genuinely don't know who will win either Rumble and with the contract status of a few people still up in the air I reckon we are in for a really strong show and some cool surprises too.

I don't blame WWE this week for putting on a place-holder show. It was apparently going to struggle vs American football anyway.

The only thing is, Brekker is shite and his dad is a twat so I don't want them to do anything with him and I certantly don't think they should give him The Steiner name, for one, he doesn't deserve it, and for two, His dad again is a twat.

His Dad being a twat should not be something used against him.

  16. Not great matches by any stretch of the imagination but I am posting these purely for the bizarre nature of Nicole Bass wrestling two great All Japan Womens wrestlers AND the freakshow appeal of the size difference between Bass and Chaparita Asari.
