  1. I remember when Fury fought Ngannou, I figured he had two ways to win. The first is a punchers chance, the second is Fury fucking about and not taking it seriously. He's notorious for fighting to the level of his opponents, so I knew that would be a possibility, and it turned out to be the case, even if he did squeak over the line.

I don't see Joshua having the latter issue. He always takes his fights seriously, and this will be no different, especially after he saw how Ngannou did against Fury.

What I would say is that I think if Ngannou lands on Joshua like he did Fury he could stop him. Joshua doesn't have the chin or recovery powers Fury does, and that's what makes this interesting. I see it being more clear-cut than the Fury fight, with either Ngannou stopping Joshua in the first four rounds, or Joshua stopping Ngannou later or winning via decision.

  2. Got to love the priorities in boxing.

Catterall actually grabbed Taylor by the neck at the press conference and has raised his hands three times in the build-up so far, which is fine. Taylor called Catterall a "fucking retard" it would seem, which was caught by microphones, and DAZN have said they'll "remind Josh Taylor of his responsibilities.”

You can do all sorts, but throwing a bad word is where the line is.

Agree with Steve Kim's sentiments on this, it's spoiled milk now, and it's Taylors fault.

I think Taylor was always going to go after the Teofimo fight over a rematch with Catterall. Then injury played a part, didn't it? It'll be a good fight regardless. I think if Taylor comes in on form and back to how he usually is, he'll win it within eight rounds.

I'd love this not to be more evidence of the industry and the people in it being the dirt-worst shit on this earth. However, potential counter is this extract the Daily Mail's coverage nicked off Facebook (yes, I know...):

Hmmmm. On the one hand we have something the Daily Mail nicked off Facebook. On the other we have Meltzer.

It's actually a tougher choice on who to believe than you'd think!

  5. I've also read in a few places that McGregor isn't quite the pull he once was, and that the money the UFC have to pay him doesn't really leave much profit from what he's generating, and the head boys at Endeavor aren't too keen on paying him according to the terms of the latest deal he signed before the Khabib fight.

Just a rumour, of course. Like it all is.

Bet you lot buy Gary Glitter albums.

Who hasn't got the ditty from The Joker movie on their playlist? He doesn't get any of the money from me listening to it though, so it's A-OK, right?

A true inspiration in these trying times. Carrying the load all on his own. must have given the 40 odd staff some time off and bought them PlayStations . What a guy

They said he was a "true inspiration," not a "man among men", Keith.

Porky has to be a gimmick, he’s always coming out with mental stuff and always gets booked. What a worker.

Having to raise some scallywags lad as if he's your own, only for him to fuck off and marry some bird who fancies herself to be an influencer and budding TV star? Maybe Charles is more a "man of the people" than I first thought...

My favourite one was how she was going to be President and be behind an attack that killed everyone above Hazza in the line of succession. Then her and Hazza would rule over the UK and US eventually turning them into one big country. Wonderful

Sounds a lot better than most of their ideas for their Netflix deal, actually.

Why on earth would Meghan do this? Hasn’t she hurt that poor family enough?

Christ, that's a blast from the past. Remember her? And when Americans hilariously thought she was going to be Queen when Hazza got to be King?

Everyone has to draw a line somewhere.

That's true, but that particular line is often drawn somewhere for a specific reason.

EDIT: I should probably add some content to the above. An example would be the widespread horror and news headlines given to the Ukraine war, where nations are opening their doors to refugees from the area and flying Ukrainian flags. Yet, not much attention is given to wars in, for example, Somalia, Sudan, or Mozambique.

Refugees from those particular wars are viewed quite differently from the Ukrainian refugees being accepted throughout Europe.

That's not to say that Ukraine's issues aren't considerable because they are. And those people deserve the help they're getting, but as you mention, that line is drawn somewhere. And usually for a reason.

  13. My unpopular opinion...

In the interest of equality, male wrestlers should be given names in a similar fashion to many female wrestlers over the years—just random first names with zero real thought.

Philip. John. Paul. Adam. Ron. Jeff. Jerry.

But Dana’s no doubt gonna insinuate that Dustin Fucking Poirier is a pussy now and a section of the fanbase (Dana arse lickers and McGregor fans who are still pathetically salty at Dustin and looking for any excuse to jump on him) are gonna lap that shite up.

The only good thing is that, knowing what Poirier is like, he's going to give zero fucks what Dana or the online community thinks.

  15. 7 minutes ago, wandshogun09 said:

Yep. And predictably, it’s working on some idiots acting like Dustin is scared. This sums it up.

Indeed. You can step into a cage to fight another dangerous human being almost 40 times, yet have your toughness called into question by a jacked-up boxercise coach who's only ever thrown hands with his wife.

Poirier’s out and apparently the contract wasn’t even signed but the UFC just went ahead and announced it anyway.

Ah, another classic from the Dana White Playbook. Announce the fight before the deal is signed, then if either fighter says, "Hey, hold...." Dana can quickly get in front of the media and deliver his "look. We can't make guys fight. If they don't want to fight, that's on them" spiel.

  17. I'm not really all that clued up on what's been going on of late with the conflict, but what I will say is that I've seen some rather alarming anti-semitism in my travels, and that's quite alarming. I think many (not all) are using the conflict as a means to push their anti-Jewish agenda, which is quite saddening.
