  1. I think because Roman stopped Solo hitting Jey when he first challenged him that everyone just made up that rule as they didnā€™t know why he has stopped him.

On a side note that I forgot to mention. This ā€œ4 main eventsā€ nonsense. Cole told us as Lesnar entered how this was his 10th time main eventing SummerSlam - on the 2nd match of the card. It wasnā€™t even 4 matches in a row. As an OCD wrestling fan who cares far too much about that stuff, itā€™s laughable.

Itā€™s certainly not a ā€˜swerveā€™ without logic, itā€™s pretty easy to theorise why Jimmy might have done this.

In my opinion it really isnā€™t when heā€™s spent almost every promo telling his brothers they were being manipulated. Basically he had cottoned on to Roman and Heyman games now weā€™re to believe he suddenly falls for them again?

They may give some other reason but jealousy driven by Heyman putting it in his head doesnā€™t stack up for me here.

  3. Good that Jimmy spent some time telling Solo and Jey how Roman was manipulating them just to let himself get manipulated again. Story is played out, time to chuck it. Didnā€™t help that Jimmy and Jey pretty much told us this was going to happen in their interview with Ariel a while back.

  4. Itā€™s hilarious that they canā€™t figure out how to create new stars when the solution is generally ā€œgive the fans what they wantā€.

Itā€™s no surprise that turning Roman heel as the fans wanted was what changed his trajectory between success and failure as the man. Every star theyā€™ve had has been down to moving with fan reactions at the time (and I include Cena as he was roundly cheered as a rapper until he became the man).

They donā€™t need to go mental and give everyone a Word title but they now actively hold people down if it wasnā€™t their plan. Giving fans what they want wonā€™t always be a success but 9 times out of 10 it will work out for you.

Jericho has had Covid deniers, conspiracy theorists on his podcast and a wife who was at the White House on January 6th. Why arenā€™t you asking for him to be less prominent?

    For two reasons.

Firstly, I donā€™t watch AEW often enough to see much of Jericho. Iā€™ve only came back in since Punk returned and have yet to watch a show he hasnā€™t been on. Those shows havenā€™t had Jericho in any sort of prominent role.

The other reason is somebody thinking they will fall off the earth if they go to Australia isnā€™t in the same league as publicly celebrating the life of a man who murdered a woman and child.

All thatā€™s been said is itā€™s a bad look. Iā€™ll leave it there from my end as nobody really cares all that much.

I'm not here trying to diagnose people or whatever but he's always seemed - both in the DSoTR episode and a bunch of different interviews he's done elsewhere - to be not quite right, which is hardly a surprise given the shit he's gone through. Didn't Jericho and Chavo have to step in once or twice to stop some carny independent promotors taking advantage of him?

Not sure on the Jericho/Chavo part but yeah, most definitely agree from what Iā€™ve seen that something doesnā€™t seem all there. It could just be trauma but who knows.

Iā€™m sure he also went out his way to contact Jordynne Grace for saying Chris should burn in hell and got a public apology out of her.

All I have seen is him say he believes it was the CTE which made his Dad do it. Thatā€™s a commonly held view and not him championing what his Dad did. Heā€™s been seen at AEW and WWE events before, I donā€™t think itā€™s fair to hold anything against him when the actions of his old man have nothing to do with him.

His Twitter timelines has been a tribute to his Dad for years. Heā€™s said he wants his Dad in the HOF. He wants to wrestle as Chris Benoit Jr.

Iā€™m not saying he should be banned from events or anything as heā€™s clearly a grieving son struggling to come to terms with what has happened but itā€™s certainly not wise to have your prominent guys having any interaction with him.

    Why shouldnā€™t he?

Probably best not to be seen with a guy who has been championing a double murder-suicide culprit and wants to wrestle under his name. I know itā€™s his Dad but none the less.

Shotzi shaving her hair to no reaction at all was pretty funny.

ā€œIā€™m fucking mental meā€ energy that promo.

Good to see reactions for Jey are starting to pick up a bit, love the guy. The story makes sense to end with him seeing he started it, it wonā€™t but at least they can make us believe once more.

Combined across 2 items, he was their biggest merch seller last month (https://nodq.com/news/cm-punk-was-aews-top-merchandise-seller-for-the-month-of-june-2023/) and can still clearly go.. they have to work it out, donā€™t they?

Was there not only about a week left of June when he returned as well? Whether people like him or hate him, itā€™s crazy to think there were people on here telling everyone he wasnā€™t a draw.

Punk seems open to working with The Elite which is what needs done. They need to grow up and get over themselves so that they can let their biggest draw help the company.

The only positive thing I have to say about this show is that the Miro promo was decent.

Now donā€™t get me wrong here I absolutely love Miro but the man has been cutting the same promo every time he appears for about 3 years now.

  12. That LA Knight digital exclusive has more YouTube views than anything that isnā€™t Bloodline from SD and everything that isnā€™t the Brock/Cody brawl from RAW. His popularity isnā€™t just the fun catchphrases in the arena it seems. Iā€™d definitely consider throwing the US strap on him as suggested above.

  13. Sometimes obvious to the fans is fine. Why would The Usos not believe he was being legitimate? Man had real tears rolling down his cheeks.

Thought the segment was excellent till then - mainly due to Roman being such an incredible promo. The brawl went on far too long though but Iā€™ll let it slide as I can see what they were trying to achieve.

Austin Theory is shit. Grayson Waller isnā€™t even that good - though granted this was first match of his Iā€™ve seen - but he can do and has everything Theory has.

Fucking hell, no wonder they made a new Big Gold/Universal consolation belt so they could still have title matches on TV. The old 30 day rule has taken a beating the last few years, hasn't it?

They officially extended that rule to 300 days in 2014 as per Kayfabe News.

  15. Is there any decent events on in London this weekend around MITB? Wrestling related I mean. Donā€™t get me wrong Iā€™ll probably just suffer the times Iā€™m not at the WWE events with a hangover but itā€™s good to have options.

  16. Itā€™s all relative. Hogan, Rock and Austin didnā€™t have the marketing available now sure but they also didnā€™t have the luxury of being able to tune in on-demand or just check out their segment on YouTube meaning you donā€™t even have to watch the show.

One look at YouTube views for Collision last week and this shows that plenty will go out their way just to watch his stuff. His promo last week is double any other video from the show in terms of views, second place is his match which is about 3x any other segment on the show.Ā

Iā€™m a prime example - Iā€™ve watched 2 AEW TV shows this week when Iā€™d probably watched about 1 full Dynamite in terms of TV stuff all year before Punkā€™s return. Thereā€™s a stat out there where if you look at Miocic and Overeemā€™s previous main events then thereā€™s a good argument to say CM Punk added a huge boost to UFC buys on the event he debuted.

He is a draw and someone not doing ā€œ100k in the Silverdome, brotherā€ doesnā€™t change that.

  17. Apparently Smackdown was ā€œVincedā€ this week. One thing that stood out was he totally ditched Bayley off the show when she was meant to face Shotzi with her MITB shot up for grabs as part of the storyline with Iyo.Ā

Thought it was a pretty nothing show. Nothing too bad with the exception of Charlotte Flair but nothing good either with the exception of The Usos getting their flowers from the crowd.

Charlotte is truly the pits man. She would put you off womenā€™s wrestling altogether. Terrible face, terrible heel. Rotten. Incredible what sheā€™s achieved really considering but I suppose thatā€™s what having 3 others carry you into the main event plus a family name gets you.

I'd forgotten how annoyed I got by him when he popped up on screen. Attention seeking cunt.

I realise this is a question asked often but I donā€™t know the answer - is he on the companies dime or what? I donā€™t know how he could be when he shows up at every WWE and AEW show in the front row. How does he afford it and how does he manage to secure those tickets?

  19. Not really sure what people expect from CM Punk. His entire popularity was based around the worked shoot stuff. One of his catchphrase for years was calling the mic a ā€œpipe bombā€ because you were to expect a shoot so to speak.

    Itā€™s literally his wrestling character.

Before Roman moves on to Hollywood (if that happens) itā€™ll be interesting to see where it all goes. I think eventually it will still end with him losing to Cody, taking time off, and eventually it leads to Roman returning, possibly turning face and trying to get the family back together to take on a new enemy, possibly an elite heel group that may have come to fruition in that time. One by one he tries to repair his relationships with his family, which will lead to more drama as they gradually realign. Then you might have a short run with a baby face Bloodline for a bit before everyone moves on to something else or Roman and the Usos might pack the business in, or at least massively reduce their dates. Hugely exciting in prospect.Ā

I reckon you could easily work this all the way to Roman as a face with The Bloodline v Gunther as a heel with Imperium who have been running roughshod all over the company by the time he comes backā€¦.
