  1. I'm hoping that it's a swerve and the Shied are looking to bring down Evolution from the inside. If it's not though, I can't see a logical reason for Rollins turning. Your part of a team that has beaten a team twice (cleanly I might add). You go through a beating the previous night and in a number of angles the preceding months. You then decide to leave the successful team and join up with a team that not only have you beaten, but have tried to kill you since the day after WM. What is the motivation for this? I would rather they had added Cesaro to the group. You could have still had him as a Paul Heyman guy and it would have led to some interesting interaction between the Shield, Heyman and Evolution. If you were going to turn a member of the Shield, would it not have made more sense (both story and logic wise) for the turn to have happened last night, costing Shield the match? If they manage to explain it well next week (or on SD) I might look on this in a different light. Hopefully they will.

Well, i'm guessing from a storyline perspective, with HHH basically being the boss of the company, he can simply go "join us and I will make you very very rich". Sounds a good enough reason to me.

  2. It fucks me off no end that Askren isn't in the UFC. I actually think Askren would wipe the floor with pretty much the entire UFC division and more than likely Dana knew this.

I still don't feel that the defining factor in Dana not signing him was that he was Bellator's current champ, but more the fact he wouldn't want a fighter grapple fucking his way to the title, and probably with ease and making everyone else look like chumps.

  3. I just wish Ortiz stopped with his 207 surgeries spiel. It really is tiresome.

And I still love this video, Tito Ortiz, the worst interviewer of all time. Apparently Vitor Belfort is 131 years old and weighs 105 llbs!!!

In relation to Jackson, it may be poor behaviour, but I have to admit, if some guy came up to me after a weight cut and try to fine me for a shove (that's common in the promotion of any combat sport) I would be livid too. However Wand, in reality you are right, Jackson should have just brushed it off and said to Bellator "you pay for that with the extra buys I just generated"

  4. Thanks, yeah Id kinda diagnosed myself with IT Band Syndrome or 'runners knee' after a google search last night. Going to order a foam roller today and rest it this week with some ice and heat treatment before trying again when the pain has gone. The route I take it very hilly and I find myself running dropped cubs and dips in the pavement so will try and find a flat route and one where i can either run on the road or away from the pavement drops.

It's extremely painful at the start so you have to get through that stage. I bought mine from sportsdirect (sorry newcastle fans!) and it only cost

  5. As what Guy B says above (and again thanks to Neil), the foam roller has been incredible for me. I've had calf problems but also knee problems like you state during football and Tennis.

The foam roller has helped improve these ailments massively. My calf pain has gone and my knee seems much better. I did a lot of work with the roller on my IT band (which basically connects your whole leg including your knee) by basically rolling the thing from hip to my ankle on the outside of my leg.

  6. To follow up my own post. A foam roller is a solid investment, it's like giving yourself a massage. Very easy to use.

Richie- your legs are going to be more sore tomorrow FYI. I would suggest you keep yourself mobile as much as possible and do some stretching throughout the day.

I forget to say thanks for the recommendation Neil. Not sure how much it will benefit, but I bought one today to help with my calf issues.

  7. To keep muscle stiffness/soreness to minimum you must warm down and stretch, invest in a protein shake with added BCAAs and I swear by zinc and magnesium tabs before bedtime too.

Zinc and magnesium, for me, is the greatest supp, and I sleep like a baby when taking them, again key for recovery.

The problem with these protein shakes is that they are disgracefully priced and most of them contain sweeteners that can be really bad for you. Whilst it's time consuming I'd much rather try and get my protein directly from food.

I've been experimenting lately with eating a good chunk of protein after the gym (I go normally 2 times a week on top of football twice a week) and I have to say I've felt considerably better the following day.

I did a decent work out Monday night, came home and had admittedly a bizarre combination of Scrambled Eggs with wholemeal toast alongside a full tin of tuna steak with light mayo added to it.

Looking at these protein shakes you get about 40g or so of protein per shake. With a tin of tuna steak for example it can contain in a standard 150g (drained) tin 30g of protein alone. On top of three eggs and say a glass of milk, it's a decent amount of protein to add in natural inexpensive way.

  8. I personally don't know the science behind it, except that it helped me for a while. I'm only really talking about once a week and cold showers actually were quite refreshing during the summer. However, as Jon mentions above, the warm down and in fact warm up are the more important aspects.

  9. Personally I didn't do ice baths, but rather cold baths/cold showers. I would often get a warm bath eventually working my way down to cold.

I found them to work brilliantly. It seems a common staple amongst professional athletes too.

  10. This won't sound pleasant either, but I went through a spell of getting a cold bath after strenuous exercise too. It actually really helped for a while but as soon as the winter kicked in the thought of it became too much to go through with it. With my current injuries I think I may give it another go.

  11. So, as predicted my legs are pretty stiff and sore after my first football training ever last night.

In situations like this, what would be more beneficial - A full night' relaxation to allow them to recover, or going for a bit of a walk to keep them active and not stiffen up any more?

The is basically going to be a do as I say and not a do as I do comment as I'm fucking terrible with it, but a proper warm down is essential to help reduce aching the following day.

Do some light jogging around the footy pitch followed by some proper stretching. Others in this thread will also say eat foods/drink shakes that are rich in protein that promote muscle recovery.

I'm shit at doing it though so I end up literally in agony the next day. Sometimes I will even pop a couple of Ibuprofen before bed and it results in no pain the following day. I just don't like doing it as I think that if I have to rely on ibuprofen to not feel like crap the next day then perhaps it's time to give it up?

  12. Is the rowing machine that good in relation to an exercise workout? Whilst I know it's certainly not a simple answer, would a rowing machine workout be better in terms of potential weight loss than an exercise bike?

I'd say so. I can keep up a pretty fast pace on an exercise bike for a fairly long time, I've got about 5 minutes in me on a rowing machine before I'm blowing out my arse.

Thanks for that. I've been struggling with calf injuries for a while and I'm basically looking for a rigorous warm but also something I can have a proper workout with.

Anyway, I decided to try the rowing machine tonight before football and Jesus Christ did it hurt. I did 2000m in 6 mins and at the end of it I felt like my whole body was burning. In fact those 6 mins seemed to do more than 30 mins on the exercise bike.

On top of that, it really put a spring back into my legs during football.

  13. Wand for me again this year. I think as an input level there a lot of other posters that contribute just as much and speak with great sense like Jim mentions above, but the effort the guy goes through with his pre event posts really is awesome and sets the tone for discussion pre and post fight events.

I mentioned in my nominations it's actually getting harder to really pick one person now and Jim, Ebb, David, Supremo, Shane O and Silky all really are equally brilliant posters.

  14. For me it has to be Vitor Belfort.

Simply what stands him above the rest was the standard of competition he faced whilst also utterly annihilating them. He even fought at a bigger weightclass destroying a legend like Dan Henderson.

Faber is joint close 2nd followed by Pettis for the reasons Jim stated above.

  15. Best MMA Fighter: Urijah Faber, Vitor Belfort, Anthony Pettis

Best MMA Fight: Dennis Bermudez vs Matt Grice, Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustaffson, Silva vs Stann

Best MMA Event: UFC 160, UFC 166

The UKFF's Best MMA Poster: This is like choosing between which of your children you love the most haha

    Wandshogun09

    Supremo

    Jimufctna24

However, Shane O is up there with those 3 too as those 4 clearly contribute a ton to the MMA thread. Christ, David and Ebb too. Just too many!

  16. Obviously I watched the final episode on Monday, but it's still with me today. I've watched it twice now and it's still fantastic on the second viewing. It really was the perfect ending to the greatest show i've ever seen.

I'm trying my best to get into some other stuff now, but nothing is living up to this. Everything else just seems shit in comparison?

In reference to the above post, Steve, surely you must have seen Lydia getting ricin'd from a million miles away? Not that it was any less epic as it is was extremely satisfying the way Walt got it into her tea, but for during season 4 and mainly in this season, Vince Gilligan really pushed Lydia's tea drinking into our faces, especially the scene with Todd a few episodes ago when they met in the meth lab.

  17. Another absolutely stunning episode that simply filled me full of dread. Things really can't get any shitter? Or can they?

That final scene in the bar was truly amazing with the breaking bad theme over the top. You just can't beat this!

On another note, I still don't see anything from Walt to suggest Jesse is in his thoughts to save. Jesse is dead to him right now.

Todd is one evil motherfucker and sunk to a new low this week.

  18. I do agree it's very hard to dislike Walt because everything he has done can be explained for the greater good. I do hope in the last 2 episodes we get to see Jesse and Walt become friends again. Walt still has revenge in his mind after the bloke with the Nazi tattoos (Can't remember his name) stole all of his money and killed his brother in-law which caused the break up of his family. Walt Jr standing up for his mother has finally been the hit on the head Walt has needed to understand some of the consequences of drastic lifestyle has caused. Although they've teased Walt going off to start a new life with a new identity. I do in fact believe he will get out of the car and go to save Jesse.

It's not really a case of getting out of the car. We already know he gets a new identity from the episode of this latest season when he is in Wendy's getting a breakfast and shows his ID with a new name.

I can't see how Jesse and Walt can become friends again, there's no way Jesse can forgive Walt for allowing Jane to die. Even though he did it for Jesse's own good. Even then, he still did it for himself too. Jane was being a complete arse in relation to the money they were making and Walt personally benefited from Jane's death.

There haven't been too many occasions when Walt did something for Jesse to truly only help him. I would say killing those two street dealers and sending him to rehab were the two times his help for Jesse was selfless.

But, to go back to their friendship, there's no going back. However, there perhaps can be some redemption for Walt saving Jesse.

  19. I think there's someone waiting for him at the end in his house. I think that'll be the final scene, and whoever it is will kill him.

The obvious choice is Skylar. Jr and Marie are also candidates.

Or, they could have it be Hollie ala Maggie Simpson shooting Mr Burns. Or not.

Didnt we see him get the fag then go out the house and scare nextdoor? Bit of a let down if hes shot in the back.

Yeah. Walt picks up the Ricin and then see's his neighbour scaring the shit out of her.
