  1. make it illegal and enforceable for officials/bankers/businessmen to meet under chatham house rules

First off its Chatham House Rule, not rules, theres only one rule. I dont understand quite what you mean here, Are you saying that any attempt to block media reporting by any business should be a criminal offense?

  2. Speaking of all-time classics, i've currently got Wrong Side Of Town, starring Dave Batista, Rob Van Dam & Ja Rule, and Unrivaled, starring Rashad Evans, Keith Jardine, Lyoto Machida & Forrest Griffin to watch.

I was so close to buying Wrong side Of Town yesterday in Morrisons, I'll probably end up buying it at some point. I got Never Surrender for

  3. The Keitel Wail:

The problem with film students, and students in general, is that they think they're the first people to discover/realise things. OMG Taxi Driver! Sadly, we all used to be like that once.

Nah Film students who see themselves as Mark Kermode and will point out to anyone that will listen that Barry Lyndon is an exception film, full of rich natural lighting are twats.

Im not saying that Taxi Driver is the greatest film ever, far from it (that is obviously labyrinth) but its far from an average film.

  4. It's a deeply average film.

Its about as far from average as a film can get. No denying that over time its become overated but it is a defining film of American cinema in the 70's, has fantastic performances from De Niro and Foster, the career best score from Bernard Herrmann (finished the day he died and used multiple times in other films), Fantastic tense direction from coke era Scorsese and based on Schrader's awesome screenplay. So apart from the great cast/direction/score and screenplay what part of it is average?

  5. Many years ago while at uni I used to work on the produce dept. in Asda and we had spiders and their egg sacs / baby spiders in the middle of bananas a few times. They eat their way into the middle and have a little webby cocoon, used to scare the shit out of us cause they occasionally jump out like hairy face huggers. We caught one once, rang the zoo to come and get it but then lost it pissing around scaring the check out girls by threatening to open the tupperware box it was in, they found it a few days later in the warehouse when someone saw it and ran it over with a forklift. The little almost transparent baby spiders still freak me out

  6. The Exorcist is great, but it looks horribly dated now.

For me, though, The Omen has always been a much scarier movie. Not just because it hasn't dated badly, but also because it relies on anticipatory horror, where the enemy cannot be seen to be fought against, whereas in The Exorcist, the demon is there for everyone to see.

I personally think it's a truism that no visible horror can ever match that which the human imagination can conjure up for itself, when given the basis for it and left to run wild.

True, If you ever need a film to back this up watch the underated 'The Keep' an early film from Michael Mann, the tension generated is fantastic, right up until they show the evil through shonky paper mache level special effects which literally manage to ruin the film in minutes. Sadly this film is still not released on DVD but if you can get hold of a widescreen tranfer of the laserdisc its well worth checking out

  7. Andy Powell is an absoulte legend...

    http://uk.reuters.com/article/idUKTRE61D26R20100214

LONDON (Reuters) - Wales flanker Andy Powell has been arrested for allegedly taking and driving a golf buggy in the early hours of Sunday morning after his team's Six Nations win over Scotland, South Wales police said.

The police said the 28-year-old flanker had been arrested with another man at 0600GMT on Sunday at a service station close to the M4 motorway near the team hotel in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Motorists had earlier called police to tell them they had seen the buggy on the hard shoulder of the motorway, according to local media reports.

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) said in a statement it was monitoring the situation which came after Powell played in Wales' memorable 31-24 defeat of Scotland at the Millennium Stadium.

Powell has won 14 caps for Wales and was a member of the British Lions squad who toured South Africa last year.

    Fucking ace.

And theres me thinking he'd gone all sensible with his new haircut, What a legend

  8. Might be a stupid question, but is the old UFC MC where Mr. Kennedy got the idea for his intro ?

I presume you mean that awful announcer from the first early shows who repeated the surnames.

That's been done by various people for years in Boxing mostly. It happens in the early Rocky films too. I remember noticing it years ago.

Used to be the standard for boxing held in big arenas, Ive heard it was done because people at the back dont hear the name being announced the first time because of the noise of the crowd

  9. ...John Polakowski

and no mention of John Polakowski can go by without mentioning his war with Olaf Alfonso from WEC 9. An incredible fight, that is my all time favourite. I dont know if this is online anywhere (it wasnt on youtube when I looked), but if you can track down a copy you wont be disappointed.

I really need to try and source a copy of TUF 8 from somewhere, as it is the one season I havent seen (with the exception of the Finale).

The Polakowski fight (and the rematch) are both online cause ive watched them on there, maybe try mmashare.com. TUF 8 may well be my fav series you should defo try and find it

  10. Just finished watching my UFC Top 100 fights boxset , 26 hours of awesomness. Great to see some of the older fights from the dark days of UFC (seems a lot of people on here had the same problems of finding the events as me from UFC 20ish first time round). Same complaints as everyone made when the list was initially made that its very selective, No Frank Shamrock and no fights with Ortiz winning which is a shame. Because I bought it region 1 I decided to get The Ultimate Fighter Nog vs Mir seeing as its STILL not available in this country, man I forgot the awesomness of this series, Drunk Junie, Tom Lawlor, spunk Sushi, Big Nogs Happy face, some great fast paced fights and the legend that is Stankie the boxing coach

  11. Amazing finish but i have a feeling everyone will ignore the fact we were out played for the majority of the game, had horrible loose passing and couldnt control a scrum for shit and didnt deserve the win. Ive not been this frustrated watching a game for a long time

  12. Footballers, Pretty much everyone thats been active in the Premiership in the last 3 years because of work, had a few pisses next to Bill Kenwright in Goodison (I think our bladders are in sync), nice guy.

On the randoms list, Michael Barrymore (nice guy but obviously a little sinsiter), Ester Ranztham, Henry Winkler (legend), briefly Sly Stallone (all through work) Ewen Bremnar and Michael Kitchen during the filming of 'The Secret Life of Michael Fry', Paul Burrell at a film premiere, Craig Charles, The Smashing Pumpkins, no one super famous but they've all been pretty friendly.

My brother was told to fuck off by Rik Mayall on a school trip, it may well be the happiest moment of his life cause hes a massive fan of Bottom.

  13. Just been to watch the original Ghostbusters in the Odeon as part of their film club night, awesome to see it on the big screen and the fact that it was an original 80's print, complete with scratches dust and jumps during the reel changes added to the coolness of seeing it. It actually made me a little nostalgic for films that looked like film, everything is far too clear and crisp now lol

  14. Wrong Turn 3 Left For Dead-I loved the 1st flim and 2nd was pretty good. hadn't read anything about this but though hey i ll give it a go turns out wrong turn 3 is really good. its never going to win an award but as a series of movies wrong turn hasn't gone down hill just yet. the story starts with the normal group of kids out on canoue's(sp?) (small boats) when they stop to find a camp grown they are picked off by the mutant in the woods with his cross bow (staright through the boobs of the hot girl goes one of the arrows). only one girl gets away. flim then goes to a prison where they are getting ready to move a prisoner. you can guess the rest. the prisoners/cops get attacked by the mutant with his barbed wire/their bus crashes. they all get picked off one by one in the wood as they try to look for help. the gore is still there, in one death one of the prisoners steps into a ring of barbed wire where it springs up onto a hook which is conexted to the van the mutant drives. he than drives the prisoner who is cut to pieces along the road and lowers the hook as they go so eventally he gets dragged on the road.

it gets in the 1st movie as the prisoners and cops try to find the ranger station in the middle of the woods as its up high in the tree's but they find it burnt to the grow (which happened when it was set on fire in wrong turn 1)

it ends leaving it open for a wrong turn 4 as they think the mutant is dead but at the end you seel someone holding a sort of weapon and attacks the only prisoner left (i don't think its the mutant though casue he looked pretty dead in the next to last scene)

 seriously this is the most random review of a film i have ever read
