  1. Some amazing fights this year. I voted Randy Couture vs. Tim Sylvia. Whilst it wasn't the most exciting or technical fight, the emotion was off the charts. Easily one of the greatest things I've ever see. And when the final found ends and the crowd fucking ERUPTS? Goosebumps.

  2. When Guerrero finally was anointed WWE champion in early 2004 (he "lost" his title four months later), the organization marketed his triumph as a redemption story. The company released a DVD recounting his life story, and later a WWE-authorized autobiography (both called "Cheating Death, Stealing Life"). In both, Guerrero claimed that he had been sober for four years. It was a hopeful, inspiring story. But like much about wrestling, it wasn't true.Ashenoff, Guerrero's old friend and tag-team partner, visited him regularly during his championship years and remembers being shocked by his physical and emotional decline. "I could see him getting weaker and weaker. You'd see him in the dressing room looking like a mummy in ice packs. He could barely move after a show. . . . He was taking all these painkillers and he was very paranoid. He was just an emotional basket case.""Without a doubt," Ashenoff says, "he wasn't clean [in the months before his death]. I know that for a fact. All those years [of abuse] finally caught up to him."

That came out of the blue for me :/
While it's somewhat surprising to hear it confirmed that he was taking loads of painkillers, I don't think anybody could have looked at Eddie's body in the months leading up to his death and believed he was clean by normal, everyday standards. Sure, by wrestling standards he probably was clean but with the way he resembled a miniature Scott Steiner, it was glaringly obvious he was taking some form of steroid, growth hormone, or both.

Publicly, Benoit played along. But he was clearly bitter about it, says Meltzer. "I've got to get out of here, but there's nowhere to go," Benoit wrote in an e-mail to Meltzer late last year.

Did anyone else find that as haunting as I did?
  3. That looks like an interesting line-up Supremo.

Yeah, I thought so too. But then you watch it and after saying their piece Black and McDevitt quickly fuck off so that nobody on the panel can question them. According to them testosterone is not an anabolic steroid, so there. And by the time Meltzer and Alvarez get to argue that it is, they've bailed. When the shit originally hit the fan I thought this was destined to change the business for the better. Having now seen WWE declare some type of victory based on nothing more than semantics, I've finally realised that nothing will ever change. Ever.
  4.:laugh::laugh: That's brilliant. He spends five minutes reciting the company line of nobody taking steroids anymore, then ends the whole thing with "uhh, I dunno" when asked if Benoit's tests will come back positive for steroids.
It's absolutely fascinating watching him contradict himself."There's a strict, fully-effective drug testing policy which means nobody does steroids anymore....even though they found steroids in Benoit's home.....yet he still passed our test....erm...he must have done them the day before he died! The toxicology reports won't prove anything!"I wish they'd continued the interview for another minute or so because if the last thirty seconds are anything to go by he would have ended up sitting in silence, having completely debunked all of his own points.
  5. According to Wikipedia, on the Wrestlemania Anthology match listing for Wrestlemania XX, the main event is listed as Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels. Am I the only one that finds it ridiculous that WWE are removing such important aspects from its history?

What are you suggesting they do instead? Continue to advertise Benoit in match listings and in photos on both WWE.com and DVD covers, potentially opening themselves up to the criticism that they're using the likeness and/or name of a CHILD MURDERER to make money? I'm fucking blown away by the amount people calling it, "stupid," "crazy," or, "ridiculous," of the WWE to do this, because it's actually the most logical and sensible thing they could do considering the circumstances. By a mile.
But, if the DVD continues to show the event in its entirety, then who is it benefitting to omit him from the match listings? If, say, a mum buys a copy of WrestleMania XX for her son on the back of promises that Benoit isn't on the tape, everyone involved is going to have a bit of a shock later on. It's false advertising by omission.By all means give the cover of, say, Backlash 2004 a rework, but the cover blurb has to reflect what's actually contained on the DVD.I was quite surprised in picking up my copy of WM23 that they kept the Benoit/MVP match on board, to be honest. Perhaps they didn't have time to take it out.

No it isn't. Unless they're going to cut every MATCH involving Benoit out of the DVDs as well, changing the match listing is completely pointless. What they should do is remove all of his matches, if they're going to go that route.

I imagine completely cutting his matches when and where it's possible will be the next step they take, but as a short term solution you can't fault them for removing his name and likeness in every way possible. It's certainly what I would have done. They're easy tagets as it is without continuing to profit from the promoting of a murderer.

  7. On the Today SHow clicp, when they show pictures of wrestlers who have died, they show a picture of Owen Hart, but the name Reads "Davey Boy Smith: The Brisith Bulldog" and cause of death reads "Heart Attack".It annoys me when news programs don't do their research, but it's a bit worse when they show one dead man and name him as another.

While that did annoy me slightly, I'd hate for wrestling fans to focus on that and not discuss what's got to be the flimsiest excuse in the history of accusations; Vince saying he and his company are only responsible if people die while under contract. That was a shockingly transparent claim that deserved a far bigger grilling that what it recieved. And yeah, while they can currently hide behind the, "wait for the toxicology report," line, I have no idea what they're going to do when the results come in. I mean, is there a single person on this forum who's expecting anything other than them finding an abudance of shit that Benoit was taking? Originally I thought they'd ride this tragedy just like they did Eddie's, with things perhaps changing in the short-term but ultimately returning to how they've always been. I'm starting to think otherwise now, especially with the feds raiding that doc's office. This has the potential to be massive.
  8. It's just the morons who keep posting their rumours from wrestling websites which are all complete bullshit that are annoying.

Far more likely that Nancy strangled Daniel and then Chris killed her in rage maybe.

Well done, give yourself a gold star, but i'm not presenting it as fact or a rumour from a website. That's just my personal opinion.
My point is that you're moaning that people are posting evidence-less bullshit, yet you're both refuting evidence and posting evidence-less bullshit. It's mind boggling.
