Gets to the same point as last year, two Cross Rhodes, sets up the third, Solo gets on apron to hit the spike only for Seth or someone on Team Cody to stop him sparking a melee. Roman tries to take advantage but misses the Superman Punch, Cody gives him a flip, flop and fly, points to above and hits the Bionic Elbow followed by a third Cross Rhodes for the win as Rock watches on

    Bianca Belair vs Jade Cargill

    Nah sod that.

I recently saw a photoshop of those two as tag champs, and now I want that as a reality.

Plus it means you can hide Cargills weaknesses during a tag run as you continue to polish her up.

Yeah solid points. I just assumed Taker was revered as a legend & a great worker, when IMO he was just very lucky with his gimmick and his opponents and tenure.

Oh he was very lucky. Don't get me wrong he deserves the credit, but he only really excelled in ring towards the latter stages of his career.

Great character, great positioning on the card and great opponents will take you a long way.

He made the absolute most of it, but it makes you wonder how good certain people would be if fortune shined on them and they were giving a gimmick of being nigh on invincible and wrestling Steve Austin / Shawn Michaels / Bret Hart regularly, instead of being deemed a preliminary talent from day 1.

That’s not really what’s implied. He’s going to choose Seth for his title shot so Rock is free to challenge Reigns. Cue weeks of shenanigans as Heyman tries to get Roman out of it. Or try and insist on non title. But we aren’t supposed to think Cody is giving up his title shot at Mania. He’s just not taking it at Reigns.

I'd say fair enough, but what's really weird is none of the official wwe accounts are saying he's chose  Seth. Only he isn't taking on Reigns...

This is from wwe.com smackdown results:

"Cody Rhodes made his shocking decision, choosing not to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, allowing The Rock to step up to the Tribal Chief!"

Makes me think wwe are withholding his official decision to see how it goes... or they are going triple threat route.

  5. Im still so super confused how this supposed fictional conversation went when Cody was getting advice from his mates, family and pet dog.

After many of them either suggestion he pick Roman (you were so close last year, and it would means so much to your father) or Seth (ooooh... you could make that belt something special, and Roman does have those nasty cousins on the outside) he decides to ring up The Rock.

Cody: Hey Rocky, need your advice; do you think I should face Roman or Seth at Mania?

    Rock: Neither.

    Cody: Huh?

Rock: Do you know what you should do?

    Cody: What?

Rock: Give me YOUR title shot. It's the last thing he'll be expecting. That way I can take the belt and be the new head of the table.

    Cody: Holy.... that's.... THAT'S GENIUS.

Meanwhile Brandi is in the background desperately trying to wave at her husband and mouthing "NOOOOOOOO".

The whole thing narratively is rediculous. We need a episode of Being the Elite where someone wins a battle royale on Dynamite and Omega makes his return and just casually convinces them to give him the world title match reward.

The reason I asked this is because I actively do not want to give WWE my money. I don't want the "bonus" of having WWE content on my account - if, however, all I need to do is simply avoid their programming on Netflix to avoid them getting anything, then that's great.

I respect your stance. I suspect however it's a fixed fee. I just can't see them going from guaranteed amounts to a "pay per 1000 audience members" type model.

Has anyone ever gone into a legitimate World Title match, with the briefcase as back up? That’s another cute, new way of doing it. Mr. Money in the Bank wins The Rumble, meaning he essentially gets two shots at Wrestlemania. Even if he loses, he could immediately cash in and try again!

Not that any of this matters. Damien Priest didn’t cash in on a man talking at length about how he was completely fucked. He's a moron. R-Truth is too smart to be hanging around him.

All this talk of whether it’s gonna be The Rock or Cody facing Roman at Wrestlemania. Can we all just admit there’s arguably a better option than both those lads combined?

Yes. Rollins entered a wwe title three way vs Cena and Lesnar at a Royal Rumble. His build was basically "bwa ha ha... even if I lose I'll cash in and win."

Which he didn't as Lesnar fucked him up good.

It hit me the most during Swerve’s promo. Listing all of Hangman’s accomplishments, detailing all his biggest wins, only to remind everyone that he himself is still two nil up on Page. Tremendous.

"He can probably beat god, but he can't beat Swerve."

    So simple but effective. Brillient.

The champions were highlighted as they couldn't/wouldn't be ranked. The rankings whenever they were used were only applied to the World Titles. The TNT/TBS were seen as open challenge titles and the All-Atlantic was so new it never really factored in before the rankings were scrapped. PAC disappeared to the UK after winning it and only came back at All Out.

From what I've seen the "open challenge" has always been at the discretion of the wrestler. In fact I don't think anything you've said has ever been made official on tv and it's all presumption.

The way the above graphic is made implies you rank for a shot at any title, and the fact holding a lesser title effectively removes you from the rankings implies that also. After all, if the rankings are only for the World Title, why would winning the TNT title remove you? Surely that should move you UP the rankings.

Finally, I remember distinctly (although we knew it was bullshit) was that the TNT title was even with the world title. Though that was likely Cody Rhodes telling himself that to make him feel better about it all.

However it's all irrelevant really. Regardless of whose right or wrong here, it's actually a failing on AEW part because it is SO unclear. We really shouldn't be this disagreeing on this as their fans.

Ultimately I HATE titles with very little distinction. If the return helps clarify each belts role that'll be fantastic.

Continental Crown: Inter promotional championship. Can be challenged by non contracted talent from North America only.

International: Special touring champion. Send Orange to the UK and Australia occasionally. Or fly them over to the states.

TNT: The top 20 AEW contracted guys can challenge.

AEW: The top 5 AEW contracted guys can challenge.

Just... SOMETHING to distinguish these belts.

Still don't like the six-sider for the regular ring - I maintain they should use the four-sider for the regular matches and events, and the six-sider for the X-Division as a means of marking it out as special (especially as I've never been happy with their definition of the X-Division in kayfabe - there's no difference in rules, weights, stips, so why not use the six-sider as a means of defining it?).

This has always been my bug bear with the x div too. Especially when guys like Abyss were winning it.

Part of me is happy, but part of me thinks this is going to be a utter logistical nightmare with 4 male single belts (and that's just AEW belts!) that are practically indistinguishable from one another.

What a pussy.* This has ruined the memory of the man who didn't pass out from the Sharp Shooter as blood pissed from his forehead in the Submission Match at Mania 13. This guy would tap out from a headlock.

I see Matt Striker decided to use his platform as a commentator to make a case for the defence of Matt Riddle.

I wonder why he would think that’s the move to make.

Wasn't this the guy who once made a statement online about Cancel Culture forcing "alphas being denied their rights to be alpha".

Yes. Yes it was. This man has a deeply weird sense of social logic.

The tag belts have been very much the dominion of collision lately. While they were clearly intending to feature Starks and bill on dynamite with the golden jets things, they're now stuck in Jericho's quagmire.

There was something strangely amusing about the fact that Le Sex Gods title shot is happening on Battle of the Belts, which is the AEW equivalent of being on modern day WWE Main Event. It's almost like Tony Khan wants to quietly move past this fued and forget about it.

Reminded me of that Christmas Raw in 97 where DX twisted Slaughter’s plan to cause tension with them by pulling a fake to get the Euro title on Triple H only for Sarge to book H against Owen Hart the following week while DX were goofing in the ring

Which HHH no showed so Slaughter made Michael's defend the wwf title instead.

Oh absolutely the reason I'll get up at 6 to watch it before work, skipping through dregs and adverts I'll be done by half 7, but you have to imagine there's something up their sleeve.

New challenger comes out... immediately regrets it. Long live the true tribal chief.

Are we expecting them to shit a brick and try and get something in place for this evening?

WWE has Rock and CM Punk back and an announcement teased for tomorrow morning in America for the press to get behind and AEW is coming off a PPV saved by 2 or 3 matches, covered in all the chaos and shit from Jericho and Tony's stupid hat and the antagonist and protagonist of their long running big reveal both being injured and unable to really progress it any further.

Where are we at on WWE releases being able to work for other companies from the last wave of sackings?

Do they push to get an 11th hour deal with Mone done so that she can debut tonight? It just feels with how much they are hyping it's 5 years of AEW and the first show of 2024, there's absolutely nothing major in the air from Saturday that can continue forward.

Joey Samoey is my world champion. That's enough for me. #Don'tCallItAComback #MommaSaidKnockYouOut
