  1. So, back in December it was revealed that Quentin Tarintino was working on a Star Trek feature script with another dude who was involved in the Revenant. This led to both Patrick Stewart and William Shatner saying they'd love to be involved in such a project.

I'm really kind of unsure about how someone like Tarintino - given his film making style - would do with Star Trek. But it's certainly intriguing. I'm not sure if the recent Uma Thurman stuff involving Tarintino might impact this ever happening, but what do you guys think of the prospect of a Tarintino written and directed Star Trek movie?

  2. Well done, Keith. Good stuff.

Have to agree that one of the biggest hurdles of being booze free is getting it out of your routine. In my case, every weekend or mates night out would roll and I'd be like: I should be drinking. I drank alcohol maybe three times or something last year and it's pretty much completely out of my living routine now to the point where I don't even really think about it.

God, even the thought of spending all of Saturday and most of Sunday hungover to fuck due to a Friday night drink is off putting. Not sure how I ever thought it was worth it.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is getting great reviews. Has anyone here played it? What do you reckon? Seriously considering grabbing it on payday for PC.

So, I got this. It's very good. Devilishly hard early on as your character isn't really skilled at anything but you can improve. It's a bit buggy in places and the lack of a save and quit option is a bit sucky, but overall I'd recommend it.

If you're a fan of something like Skyrim but can do without the fantasy stuff, you'll probably love this game. Looking at you, @PunkStep

@SpursRiot2012 You considered bar work Spurs? Relatively easy way of earning money while you're socialising if you get in at the right spot. Also, you seem pretty adamant about going back into your sales job, but from your previous posts about it, your manager was keen on you. Can't you negotiate a full-time wage for three days a week? Knowing that it's only something you have to do for another few months will give you light at the end of the tunnel, and won't be much more of a chore than it is trying to go through the process of finding a new job and sitting interviews. I know you're pretty against the sales gig but it's not something you have to put up with forever is it.

So, despite everything I said about not wanting to go back to sales, today the MD of the sales job you're talking about above, Steak, called me to see if I'd be up for working 2-3 days a week in March and April as they've just taken on a big client. I said yes. It is just easier. I know the business, I know what's expected of me, I get on with all the senior staff and it's well paid and short term.

The job I mentioned earlier in the thread is still a possibility but they're taking forever and I need cash. I actually got offered a random sales job over the phone today, without an interview, but the MD called me an hour after that and, if I'm going to do sales, I might as well do it somewhere I'm already comfortable.

  5. Sorry, Chest, I can't help as I don't really read Superhero stuff.

Reason for my post is to say I picked up the first Sandman TPB, Lucifer TPB and Fables TPB 2. Sandman is great. And from what I read, this first TPB is like the weakest of them all. I continue to enjoy Fables a lot. Lucifer is a bit meh so far but still not bad. I doubt I'll pick up any more Lucifer TPB until I've finished Sandman and Fables.

Errrm. You guys have taps that dispense water in your homes right?

Are these quantities of fizzy liquids the bulk of your liquid intakes?

Yep. I do drink about a litre of water per day, plus whatever amount of water is in Pepsi Max.

I don't drink enough water in general. When I was in Benicassim a few years ago at a festival, we were all sitting at a cafe about 14 days in when somebody pointed out they'd only ever seen me drink Fanta Limon (and alcohol) during the entire trip and it was then that I realised I hadn't drank water in 14 days.

I know you've put a lot of stuff in your body over the years, but my god this is worse than all of that put together. Four litres a day of that mouth rotting shite!

I'd say it's an improvement, overall. It's my only vice (except coffee, nicotine and sometimes - on occasion - cocaine.)

  7. You can see how Fuller leaving the show really made the first season incredibly uneven. The new team had to go with a lot of what Fuller had envisaged (the Klingon war arc, plus Fuller wanted to do an AHS-style anthology series) and get that all wrapped up by the end so that their vision can lead the way in season two.

Having said that, as far as Trek first seasons go, TOS aside this is the strongest first season of any Trek series. Seeing the Enterprise was nice as well.

  8. So, my upstairs neighbour now thinks I'm, like, an abuser. Which is awkward. Not looking forward to the next time I run into her in the lift.

My cat pissed in the bed. I was in the bed at the time so I got pretty angry and loud. This cat has caused thousands of pounds worth of piss-damage since we've had him, so I feel like it's justified. However afterward my girlfriend got a message from the neighbour asking if she was OK. Worse, we took over and hour to reply and the reply was badly structured so it totally seems like we spent time coming up with and typing out a bad cover story. Damn.

I am thinking of getting a job in IT, the problem I have is that I have no qualifications or experience in an IT environment but have lots of experience in general with computers as I have been on one since I was like 6 years old due to my disability and getting taught how to type at the age of 7.

So what I was thinking of doing is doing a Comptia a+ course online during my days off work, someone recommended a website called Udemy so I might do it through them but I was wondering what other options there are out there.

If anyone is in the IT/Gaming industry then please can you give me any advice.

What do you want to do 'in IT'? If you want to get into hardware and Windows troubleshooting and servicing, then yeah, A+ is probably what you want.

  10. I started watched Archer. I was looking for a new animated show to watch since I can only re-watch Rick & Morty so many times. I'd watched the first couple of episodes of Archer a long time ago but it didn't grab me. Anyway, I've watched about 5 seasons in a week (I have it on my second monitor while I'm doing work) and it's really good.

On the subject: what are people's favorite animated shows?

  11. So, I got a call today about a job. I guess they found me on Reed. It's a marketing role, which is more in line with what I'm studying than what I've done before, but is still a bit salesy. Also, it's not well paid. At least, not compared to what I've been used to earning. The role is full-time, which will be difficult. Also, the recruiter obviously didn't read my Reed profile properly as it clearly states that I'm starting a masters in September. Having said all of that, I could use the cash so I'm thinking of taking the job, getting paid for a few months and then quitting. Is that totally out of line to do? It says right there on my profile about starting the masters in September, so I obviously wouldn't be able to stay beyond August. That's kind of their fault, right? Then again, the last person who did this role apparently now heads up their Digital Marketing department. So, it could potentially be a good role. Who knows, by August I could love it and think it's worth staying.

Apparently based on the distances Stamets mentioned when talking about Starbase 1 and Earth, Starbase 1 is on the edge of the solar system. I wonder why the Klingons wouldn't have just attacked Earth.

He said Starbase 1 was 100AU from Earth. Well within our solar system. Voyager 1 is currently further away that 100AU. When they came out of warp in the wreckage of Starbase 1, it was above a very Earth-like planet where there is definitely no planet.

That was a very meh episode. I just didn't buy the massive drama between Tyler and Burnham. They had a thing, but was it ever much more than that? And they're all crying about it like they were in love for years and where did it all go wrong. Nah, sorry lads.

Also if mateyboy can "overshoot by 9 months" why the fuck can't he go and undershoot them back before the war is almost lost? Maybe that's what they'll do, but it seems too obvious to me to ignore it and then go "a ha!" next week, like it wasn't obvious from second 1 that that's what they should be doing. And if not, well fucking hell, the writings been so solid up to this point, I can't believe they'd write themselves into a corner like that.

Tyler went from being sorry to OMG ONE LITTLE ATTEMPT TO KILL YOU AND YOU GIVE UP ON US? real fast. That was hilarious.

  14. I posted about the Sea of Thieves closed beta last week. In case anyone was thinking of getting this game on release in March, I wouldn't. It's very shallow. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but is in no way worth £60. And if there isn't much content to be added other than what was in the beta (and I have no reason to believe that there is), it'll be on sale in no time.
