  1. Ive browsed through most of the show. The biggest influence, it seems, without having gloves on is that it makes submissions far easier to do. It adds a different dimension to the ground control and defence too by the looks of it. Could be an interesting thing going forward.

Id advise everyone to skip to the last 15 minutes and watch the Nelson fight, as it was alot of fun. Its amazing the success Big Country had at the elite level when you think hes a 6' heavyweight with a massive gut. His right hand may only be second to Francis in terms of power Id say. It landed in this fight too, and even in his mid 40s and bareknuckle, he sparks someone out cold. That thing is lethal.

  2. The bookies have the main event as a coin flip. Not sure I could bet on Henry at even money, afterย  a three year lay off. I think the value here is Aljo, as the younger and more active current champ.ย

The betters are not getting into the Kron hype for this one, Jourdain is a 2/1 fav to win. I assume Kron hasnt been spending all his time away training, so think he loses this one and looks bad doing so.ย

Absolutely no idea how the Burns match goes, but hope he wins.ย

  3. This bump made me check out whether that Sapp and Rampage thing happened, and it did:

    ย

There was a multi year period when you could say both Rampage and Sapp were one of the biggest names in combat. Very sad to see them doing stuff like this, but I guess its hard to turn down some decent (in the real world) cash for a nights work.

  4. Browsing on Rotten Tomatoes and I see that the US version of Ghosts is already finishing it's second full season. Is anyone keeping up to date with it? If so, is it worth a watch? Could do with a good new 20 minute comedy.ย

Speaking of Ghosts, I finished the first season of Yonderland. Nowhere near as good as what they would go on to do with Ghosts, but just enough there to make me keep watching.

    ย

The new series of Taskmaster has been excellent as well. I had reservations about how Frankie Boyle would be on there, but he's tremendous. Mae and Kiell are the MVPs though, both are fantastic.

  5. I guess the issue is that the UFC is making way more money now than what it was during the glory years. I doubt they are that bothered about a reduction in the amount of people watching these shows if they are still making millions more profit per year.ย

Another thing to consider is that it's a different era now, where content (however average) is king. All of these average shows give Fight Pass and ESPN hundreds of hours of cheap sporting content, which is probably the most important factor these days.ย

"Im going to be there till the fucking end. Bloody, broken, it doesnt matter, Im coming for your soul". Handsome Luke said this, but does anyone really believe him?ย

As predicted, you shouldnt have. He was having reasonable success, but looked so fragile any time Perry hit him. As I thought, he wasnt there until the fucking end, and took out his mouthpiece and waved the white flag. I dont blame him at all. Take the cash, and never be seen in BK again.Just gutted I didnt chuck any money on Perry, as it played out exactly how I thought. Perry vs Cowboy Cerrone sounds like it would be fun too.

Mendes/Alvarez was a fun little match too. Eddie fits in perfectly for BK, and both guys did some good damage in this one. Entertaining scrap.

  7. Not shocked that Perry is the fav, as he beat MVP in his last fight, and say what you like about him, you know hes going to be well up for this. I just get the feeling that this is just some retirement money for Luke, and that hes not putting in the hours that Perry will be. MVP is alot more dangerous than Rockhold, and he was able to survive that fight, which makes him the fav for me.

  8. Watched those preview shows to the two main fights. Rockhold nailed every cliche in the book during his interviews; "best shape of my life", "the break from fighting allowed me to recover", "I was burnt out, now I have my passion back", "the UFC was holding me down, now I have my freedom" etc etc. Im sure at some point he said hes still "at the top", which seems a bit silly when hes plugging a bare knuckle match with Mike Perry on a show most people wont watch.

"Im going to be there till the fucking end. Bloody, broken, it doesnt matter, Im coming for your soul". Handsome Luke said this, but does anyone really believe him? Thats the big question going into this one. Perry said similar things, but theres no doubt in my mind that I actually believe him when he says it. I think that'll be the difference when they fight.

  9. Sergei made a big statement in that victory. Your prediction of him being champ at the end of 23 seems a lot more realistic after this performance. If things work out timing wise, he could definitely be having a crack at it this year. Super impressive victory, he looked unstoppable. Would Bones Jones risk facing Sergei? I get the feeling the risk is far greater than the reward against a fairly unknown but super dangerous fighter like Sergei. The business side of Jones would rather vacate the title and have some super fights, rather than face this monster.

Tavares/Silva was definitely an early stoppage, in my opinion. Was a decent scrap up until that point. The Green and Wells fights were pretty fun too

  10. Mendes vs Alvarez should be the pick of the bunch. Mendes fought exactly how you thought he would in his first BK match, and was just throwing bombs. Who doesnt want to see that sort of guy against Alvarez. Saw what you like about him, but Perry has looked pretty good in BK so far. Will be huge questions about how Rockhold will fare doing it. Cant see it ending up positive for him.

  11. Burns hasnt done himself any favours in getting the next shot at Leon with this win, I don't think. Dana will undoubtedly choose Colby over Burns, I think. Leon will just have to deal with it, and he can't really moan, as this victory wouldn't wet the appetite for the Leon match.ย

Shocker of an ending for the Izzy fight too. Didn't get out of 2nd gear up until that point, but Izzy took advantage of some slack defence in the most vicious of ways. The third fight will definitely be happening next, too, I'd say.ย

  12. Absolutely love Ghosts, so will be sad for it to end. Have watched most of the first season of Yonderland, and whilst it's nowhere near as good as Ghosts, it's still a super easy 22 minute watch.ย

  13. From memory, Masada tried to Last Ride Thumbtack Jack, and he tried a Rana reversal and spiked himself on the top of the head. The irony that it was a wrestling move that nearly killed him, and not any of the other crazy shit he was doing at the time with cinder blocks and syringes.ย

How much space is left on your internal storage? Itโ€™s normal for write speeds to drag when a drive is approaching full.ย

Ive tried it with over half the space left, and its still rubbish. Ive also tried to go from one external to another external, and the speed is rubbish for that too. Yet when I go internal hdd to either of these, the speed is fine.ย

  15. Does anyone here own a Chromebook? When transferring files from the internal storage to an external hard drive, the transfer speeds are normal. When transferring files from the external hard drive to the internal storage, its insanely slow. Any ideas what could cause that? A 300MB file takes upwards of 15 minutes, and stop/starts all the time when copying from the EHDD to to the internal storage.

  16. @Lion_of_the_Midlandsย @Onyx2ย Thanks for the S2 Taskmaster NZ recommendation. An amazing series and cast! All of the contestants were fantastic, and as you said, some brilliant tasks. As good as David was, I think Urzillas constant bullying of Paul was the highlight. Guy was a really funny contestant too. Hopefully S3 is pretty good too?

  17. Raven had a tonne of interference in it, and DDP was a main eventer, so I'd say the perfect example of this in Goldbergs run was his match again Saturn at Spring Stampede. Saturn was a low ranking Flock member, but had a really good and competitive match with Bill, and got in plenty of offense. Goldberg come out of it looking better too

The London card did an ยฃ8 million gate. Double the previous highest UK gate. Edwards might not be the single factor driving that, but clearly having a UK Champion defend in his own country boosted business significantly. I fairly certain any London fight with Edwards headlining going forward does massive business.

Edwards/Masvidal would do an 8 million gate, but then so would Colby/Masvidal, or any half decent PPV main event. Personally I think the Leon factor is very small, it was the fact it was a UFC PPV. The fact that Curtis Blaydes/Aspinal did 4 million shows you how good the market is still here.ย

  19. Being undefeated in the last seven and a half years means absolutely nothing with regards to negotiating power with Dana. Despite the fantastic performance, its still only Leon Edwards. Dana couldn't give two flying fucks if he's champion or not. He's not a big star. Even the Masvidal fight wouldn't do huge business.

As shown with big Francis, who is a miles bigger star than Edwards, Dana doesn't give a shit if you're champion or not. Leon has no say in whether Colby gets a shot, unfortunately. If he refuses the fight, Dana will just create an interim championship and have Colby fight for that, and just allow Leon to sit out. He can say what he likes, but unless your McGregor, every fighter is playing in Danas world.

Has Gunnar Nelson ever had a really genuinely impressive performance in the UFC, i am still scarred by that Damien Meia fight.

Loads. Off the top of my head, hes got a tonne of really impressive subs when hes gained top control and looked impossible to get off. Look at the Cowboy Oliveira fight, the DaMarques Johnson fight. There was a time, Id say, when there werent many better in the whole of the UFC when they had their opponent grounded.ย
