  1. Great Post! Unfortunately there's not much there tickling my fancy. The Inoki show is, I assume, alot of pro wrestling. You'd have to assume that main event is going to be worked, as Lawlor has dabbled in pro wrestling for a while now.ย

New Years Eve means freak shows for me, so there's not much here for my fancy. I've watched a few grappling matches and have been bored stiff by them so will be giving that a miss. Less grappling, more Bob Sapp and random Sumo guys for me!ย

  2. Just watched an interesting clip of Demetrious Johnson on Rogan talking about pay, specifically PPV points. Very interesting to hear him say that he only had PPV points on his last Championship defence against Lego Head. I always thought the rule was every champion has PPV points, which clearly isnt the case. Puts into perspective how badly they are paid if most champs dont even have the PPV points. Youd have to assume that very few people have this into their contract.

Predictably the comments are sensible and well thought out.

This was posted, and discussed, in this thread around 12 hours ago. Unfortunately, in those 12 hours the replies havent improved at all, and are still unfunny.

  4. This was a very fun main card. The first half of it was a cracker. The Brundage fight was a good opener. Dober/Green was a belter. Tremendous match, which Green was looking amazing in. His hands and defence were looking real sharp, and he was easily winning the fight. Dober stayed extremely game throughout, and got rewarded when he landed his bomb.

Lets stop for a moment and discuss Alex Caceres. For a start, hes only 34, which seems impossible for me to comprehend. He feels like hes been in the UFC an eternity, and going back to his Wiki page, he has! Remember the Carlos Condit vs Nick Diaz match, which had those amazing build up episodes? That was a decade ago, and feels like a completley different generation. Our Bruce Leeroy was on that show. Not only that, he had already had 3 UFC fights the year prior, and was also on the JDS vs Cain show on Fox a few months before. Hes now 26 fights into his UFC career, and has won 6 of his last 7. Out of those 26, I doubt theres as good a KO hes done as the one on this show. Fantastic KO.

Albazi landed a massive uppercut KO, and was looking fairly comfortable up until that point. Ismagulov had no answers for the grappling of Tsarukyan. He defended them well, and could almost always get back to his feet fairly quickly if he was taken down, but he couldnt get anything off offensively, and lost fairly decisively. Main event didnt do anything for me, and was easily the worst fight on the main show.

Cruz and Felder is a bad combo to have on the comms too, purely down to Cruz. He rambles on so much, that by the time hes finished his point, whatever hes talking about (be it a takedown attempt, or scramble), the action has finished and the point he was making was disproved. Whilst thinking about how shit Cruz is, I actually started thinking about Brendan Fitzgerald. I dont think Ive ever heard a negative comment about him, ever, which shows you how good he is at his job. Usually theres at least a little negative feeling toward someone who does as much commentary as he does, but hes so good that you never hear a bad word against him.

  5. Ive dipped in and out of a few matches so far. Wright looked awful in his match from the bits I watched. Maybe he was just playing to his opponents level, as whoever that guy was was terrible. Also, a star making performance from Beau, this was not. Will have to wait at least another year for her to be a golden girl too, as this was a completley unmemorable performance from her.

Merry Christmas one and all. Although saying that - research continues into how to access Sky Sports (or find the Portuguese equivalent) for when we head over there next week for 'Feliz Natal'. I'm sure I'll find a way, otherwise it's going to be a lonely gap in the middle.

I'd love Barney to go on another good run. He looked fantastic last month. This checkout from last year still stirrs the senses.ย

Twitch is a good shout. Just checked and its on a few channels there now. Pretty sure last year the whole thing was on there every night. Seems like the PDC are not too arsed about it being there

  7. Outstanding main card, I thought. A perfect Fight Night. Plenty of recognizable fighters having great fights, and plenty of good finishes.

I agree with Wand and on the pro Bisping side. Disagree with lumping DC in with Rogan and Cruz though! DC and Bisping are exactly the same for me. They have their flaws, however you can see that they are both genuinely interested and excited to be there. They are both likable personalities too.

I think it'd be a great idea for the UFC to try some new blood in the booth, especially during those really lacking Apex shows. Felder is the newest addition to the group, and hes seemingly been about for years at this point too. They should throw some new blood in there, even if its just as a third man on these Apex shows, as a trial to see who would be good for the future.

  8. Have now caught up on the last few major Deathmatch Tourneys, so thought Id share some opinions:

    XPW: Halloween in Hell 3

Thankfully still as much as a cluster fuck and overly long as the old days. 4 and a half hour show? Check. Rubbish and meandering Rob Black promos? Check. Rubbish and nonsensical Rob Black angles? Check. Everything you expect from XPW, and it didnt disappoint.

Drake Younger is back in action! Doing death matches again, too. He seemed to have a job for years to come if he played his cards right in WWE, but now hes back doing death matches. Bit of a come down.

Necro Butcher was accompanied to the ring by Jasmine St Clair! Another throwback to nearly 20 years ago when watching bootleg XPW VHS's. Judging from what he looked like a few years back, its great to see Necro looking healthy again.

After three solid hours of death match wrestling (which kicked off with a ten minute Rob Black promo), what do you want? A ten minute Rob Black promo of course. What do you want after 3 hours and 20 minutes of a show? Another ten minute Rob Black promo of course. 30 minutes of Rob Black promos!

The action itself was pretty good. Saywer Wreck of GCW fame was in a super solid death match, which is worth checking out for the gusset plate being jammed into her forehead, and also for a truely disgusting spot, where Sawyers opponent has at least 5 inches of skewer completley under her skin in her arm. I may be getting worked, but the visual of pulling that skewer from under her skin was gross.

Shlak/Angel may just be the most disjointed match Ive ever seen. A massive car crash, where no one knows what the fuck theyre supposed to be doing. Strangely watchable for how bad it is, and not helped by some nonense Black booking thrown into the mix. No insane Angel bump, which is surely the only reason he'd ever be brought back.

    CZW TOD 2022

After several years away, and being completley upstaged as the deathmatch event of the year by GCW, TOD returns! Old school CZW theme song to open the show is always a winner in my eyes. Fairly standard show, and clearly working on a lower level than its pomp from ten years ago. My favourate parts are the nostalgia. Mickie Knuckles getting to the final. Necro Butcher. Insane Lane (complete with his old school theme too). Plenty of entrance music stuck in the mid 00's too. What other wrestling show will I be able to hear Chicken Huntin by ICP in 2022? Plenty of decent, but unmemorable stuff on the show. One thing Ive never seen before was that every wrestler had a sponsor, which was plugged during their entrance. Smart idea to make a little extra cash I guess.

    GCW Nick Gage Invitational 7

Solid event, with a solid final. If youre into your deathmatches, then Id suggest catching up on all of the Alex Colon/John Wayne Murdoch matches from 2022. Theyve had some really good ones, and this was no different. Colon is probably the best death match wrestler out there right now. Sawyer Wreck was also really solid in this one too. Big FN Joe from the UK was also really solid on this one, and had a great showing in TOD too, so is definately one to keep an eye on. More in general GCW chat, Rina Yamashita has had a few really good deathmatches the last year too, so is another one to keep an eye on.

Plenty watched, but the GCW and CZW stuff is just a bit too polished, which bizarely makes the XPW event I watched the most memorable! Ive rambled on more than Rob Black so Ill leave it at this!

  9. Something strange is happening today on the forums, its constantly logging me out, but when I click a specific forum, its signing me in as a completley different account! By random, its given me multiple different accounts that it logs in to? When I log into my account, there is an error message too. By luck Ive managed to sign into my account, but when I click into a different forum, it switches to someoe else. Is it happening to anyone else?

  10. Which one of Tuivasa or Pavlovich has pissed off Uncle Dana? Tuivasa just headlined a huge Fight Night card, and was on a great win streak before losing at it. Pavlovich is on a four fight win streak, and in his last fight stopped the Black Beast on a UFC PPV main card. Their reward? Being fourth fight down on a Fight Night card, even below two no name flyweights who most couldnt pick out of a line up. I know they dont earn more cash the higher up they are on a show, but regardless, it just seems bizarre.

  11. Just seeing this, imensely sad. Im not on the social media stuff, so this has come right out of the blue. 38 is the same age as me, which puts things into perspective. Not many fighters have an aura, but Rumble certainly was one of them. Cant think of many fighters in the history of the UFC who had a big of a 'fear factor' with regards to the KO punching power, heavyweight division included. Certainly one of the most memorable fighters that have passed through the UFC.

  12. To be fair, I can see Dana's logic with not wanting Alvarez. Out of the people watching this PPV, what percent remember who Alvarez is, and how many even know about their first two fights. Probably 1% know both. When theres already at least 5 names already signed who make more sense for Chandler to fight, then I cant see much upside of getting Eddie in just for this.

Thought this was a fantastic show. Esparza's performance is surely up there as one of the worst title defence performances of all time. She looked completley out of her depth, and seemingly just stopped fighting the hands so she could quit.

During the hype for the fight, they brought up Tatiana Suarez. Just checked, and she hasnt fought for 3 years! Whats going on there? She looked like she was going to be a real problem for the division.

  13. Great write up! After getting the Makhavev and OMalley fights completley wrong in the predictions last month, Im not going to say the same thing about Pereira not being on Izzy's level, and Izzy being a different class. I do think Izzy should win this though. Hes a 1/2 favourate, which seems about right. Izzy has enough fight IQ to stay out of harms way for most of the fight, I think, and outpoint Pereira for the win.

How amazing will Poirier/Chandler be? Aside from Gaethje, these are two of my favourate fighters. Physically impossible to be a bad fight.I assume the winner gets a title shot too. A massive shame its only three rounds.

Two and a half years ago, Reyes could have been the undefeated LHW Champ, and the first man to beat Jon Jones, and been a legend of the sport. Instead, that decision went the other way, he lost his next two, and is a complete afterthought, not just on this card, but in the sport too. It can be an amazingly cruel sport, thats for sure.

Freeview channels. So in my programme guide, thereโ€™s a handful of programmes but gaps in the numbering where it hasnโ€™t picked a load up.

I think theres a website where you can enter your postcode, and it will tell you what transmitter you are getting your signal from, and what channels you should be getting. If these channels dont match up, maybe theres a problem with the aerial itself. Most TVs show you (I think?) the signal strength that you have. If its bad, then I assume your aerial has maybe been affected by some bad weather. A signal booster could then help I guess, too.

Been as Im here, I have two USB related questions:

    - Two of my USB ports on my laptop seemingly have weak power. The connection is solid, but when I use them, they constantly connect/disconnect whatever is being used. Ive had to stop using two of three USB ports, and have now bought a powered USB hub. Even when using a mains powered hub, when I connect an external hard drive to this hub, the disconnecting of my bluetooth mouth starts up again. Could this be a software issue? Is it just wear and tear of the USB ports? Also, is replacing USB ports a fairly simple DIY job on a laptop (I have never opened up this laptop to see whats inside)?

    - The USB port on a TV has stopped working. Whats the cheapest way to watch video files on a USB stick on this TV through HDMI? I see those HDMI android boxes on Ebay for around ยฃ30, would they do the trick? Ive also seen a cable where you can power your firesstick and connect a USB drive to it as well, has anyone done this? Cheers.

  15. Had an advert pop up on Facebook for something called the Hip Hop Heroes Festival in Paris in Feburary of next year, and it looks fantastic; Erick Sermon, Freeway, Beanie Seigel, Keith Murray, AZ, Kool G Rap, EPMD, Beatnuts, Big Noyd, Havoc, and Mobb Deep (dont know why these two are listed as seperately, unless Havoc is doing two sets, one of his own stuff and one with all the Mobb Deep stuff). A load of others too. Would have definately been something Id go to over here.

  16. Cant see the point in it either. Watch from a worse angle than what the broadcast would show, and the VR element is worthless as youre not moving or need to see 360 degrees. Conveniently in that clip all the action is on the best side of the cage, but what happens if its all the way over the other side? I wonder if you can change view points.

  17. Caring about your record/legacy and caring about the money you can still make are not mutually exclusive, so Im not sure why people are at odds here (well, as its David Im fairly sure why!). Floyd cares about his legacy, but when theres an endless line of money marks willing to give him millions of dollars for a sparring session, then that obviously overides any concern with 'legacy'. We all think its silly, but the truth is, surely Mayweather is in the Top 5 earners for boxing/MMA for the last couple of years. In 10/20 years time, no one will be talking about or remembering these things, even if he gets KOd in one, so its a no brainer to rinse these guys for as long as possible.

  18. Got this one completely wrong! Thought I was going to be able to smugly post how I got it right when Reem wobbled from Hari's first meaningful punch, but he survived it, and looked fairly comfortable throughout. Even at 43, Reem still throws a mean punch, and looks in fantastic shape. Fun little fight, and am glad Reem was able to pull it off.ย

  19. Im no expert at all in kickboxing, but in Badr's last full match, he won the first round 10-7, and scored another knockdown in round 2, before being headkicked KO'd. Then I think back to Reem's last few fights, where youre on edge all the time because it looks like his resistance to a punch has reduced greatly and he could be dropped at any time. Just cant see how he survives when Badr strikes him clean.
