  1. Just watched the main card, and the main event was the drizzling shits. Literally no action when it went to the ground, and little to no action when standing. Cant think of many worse fights Ive seen this year, let alone 5 round main events.

The Pico match was interesting due to his injury, and R1 of the Carlyle fight was superb. R2 and 3 werent half bad either. Carlyle sure makes you work hard for the victory.

  2. Yes, what was the big secret for this? As far as I can see it was nothing different, there were no extra cameras or anything. Very strange.

Main event was fairly solid. Dern is almost identical to Demian Maia, in so much as they have you on the edge of your seat whenever it goes to the ground. Super entertaining to watch when it hits the ground. The last round was super tense, and I didnt even have any interest in who won at all.

  3. Cant find any pictures, but I assume Reem is back on the horse meat? Even if he is, judging from how fragile he looked every time he was punched in his last few UFC fights, I cant see this one going past R2. Badr is going to smash him.

  4. It would be motion sickness central if you watched a full show in ref cam VR. At the very least, there's a reason why we watch the polished editing and camera shots that they give us, as its a much more enjoyable viewing experience.

Isn't all that Meta VR stuff things where you can stand around with your headset on, and be in the same 'room' as your virtual friends? Maybe some sort of trial where you and your friends are 'together' watching it through your Avatar

  5. Le Banner was one of a handful of guys from K1 that I'd make an effort to watch, ie, buy the unofficial Compilation VHS's which had several of his fights on the match listing. He was always in a good fight, and had an aura of 'big match' feel for his fights, similar to how ill always check out a Badr fight these days.

Nah he mentioned in the interview he’d cleaned up his act at that point. That interview was probably not long before his WWF return in 2000.

I havent listened to it, but could it be a case of Regal genuinely not remembering anything about this (what hes referring to in the 99 interview), and is just giving a bog standard, cookie cutter answer to the question?

  7. I watched it, and whilst it was good, I wouldnt class it as the best ever. To be fair, I went into it cold, so maybe there was some grand build up to it, which of course would of made it much more engrossing and entertaining. For me, your random BJ, Freedom, GCW death match main is not too disimilar to this.

Fair play to Taka, he seemed to draw a very nice crowd to this show. Havent watched it yet, but am looking foward to watching the match with Dick Togo, Gedo, The Great Sasaki, Cima, Taka and Kaz Hayyashi. Proper old school match! Im sure this is the same building too that there were a bunch of Michinoku Pro shows from the 90s that popped up on the Japanese Compiliation VHS's.

Thanks Ebb for pointing out that Angel/Shlak match, will definately be checking that out. Youre right, some of those bumps he did were insane. Check out this bunch of madness. That powerbomb spot still may be the most insane thing Ive seen, its amazing they hit it perfectly, otherwise he genuinely could of died from it (11:30 of the second vid)

His conviction hasn’t been overturned though has it? He’s going to have a retrial.

Its been that long since I listened to series that I can’t recall all the ins & outs of it

From what Ive read, it seems like the experts are saying that its highly unlikely to go back to a retrial for him.

  9. Chandlers' status is so high at the moment, that Alvarez is nowhere near his level. Crazy to think that, really. For the up and up trajectory of Chandler, it's been the exact opposite for Alvarez. I assume he will end up in a few Bellator main events.

  10. Still listening to Athletico Mince. Its crazy how many new and brilliant characters Bob comes up with. Since my last post, Ive been introduced to Adrian Lewis at the Slaughterhouse, Crime Files with Neil Hunt the Nonsense Potter, and Peter Beardsley, amoungst others. Nothing ever outstays its welcome.

The main reason to bump this was the news today about Adnan Syed being released from prison. Im sure plenty here have listened to Serial. They are saying there are two other suspects which need looking at, but nothing else is being said. The whole stuff about the phone towers inaccuaracy and the lack of DNA seems to have finally worked in his favour. Wasnt the general feeling that if it wasnt Adnan, then it had to be Jay, as he knew where the car was? Guess his life has become interesting the last day or so.

  11. Just come back myself. Havent been for 3 years, so there was plenty of new things (and old) to enjoy.

    - Velocicoaster - Unlike PunkStep, I thought this was outstanding. Easily now the best ride in all of the Disney/Orlando parks. Unbelievable speed, and super smooth, plus no over the shoulder constraints.

    - Spiderman, after all these years,  is still the second best of that sort of ride. Way better than Kong (which Im not a fan of), Transformers (which is crap), Fast and Furious (the best part of which was the hilarious actor in the controk room), Gringotts Bank and The Simpsons, and Fallon (which are crap). The only thing which tops it is Rise of the Resistance, which is excellent. It has the best queue as well. Really well done, and worth the giant queues.

    - Guardians is really good, a great addition to the park. Again, theyve nailed the queuing part, which plenty to keep you occupied. We had Everybody Wants To Rule The World playing the first time, which was perfect for the ride. Cant remember what we had the second time, but it wasnt half as good, and didnt make the ride as enjoyable.

    - Iron Gwazi in Busch Gardens is new, and is better than Velocicoaster. Hands down the best ride we did. Another one which is just a waist constraint, which seems to be the key for an amazing ride.

    - Avatar is still as jaw dropping the 6th time you do it as it was the first. More rides like this!

    - Like Punk said, Hagrids is another superb addition to the park. Great stuff.

    - Bourne. Looked absolutley jaw dropping, and super unique. Unfortunately it had technical issues which stopped our show about half way through.

    - Some things are looking dated now; Universal needs some serious cash injected into it, its feeling really old now. Men in Black should never still be open. Aerosmith ride just now feels slow after youve been on Velocicoaster and Gwazi, and it just needs a new band there instead (they were playing Queen on the way in, which might be indicitative of something). Hulk, Ive never been a fan of, just dont like it. Animal Kingdom has never been all that, but it needs quite a few new things to keep up with the others.

    - Covid has ruined a load of the eating (out of the parks) there. Every place there has 'Now Hiring' adverts. 95% of the iHops and Denny's are shutting around 9pm, which seemed crazy to us. Bob Evans shuts at 4pm, and things like Cracker Barell shut early too. Even the fast majoity of fast food places like McDonalds would be drive through only from a really early time. Your post park eating options are very limited.

  12. Just cheeked the odds, and it's almost a coin flip for Diaz/Ferguson, which is insanity in my eyes. Its the Nate Diaz hype train in full affect, as there's no way he should be this close in odds to Ferguson. As Wand says, Ferguson has fought a murderers row of talent in the last four fights, so the fact he's lost 4 in a row makes no difference in relation to this fight for me. Think Ferguson is way above in class than Nate at this point, so am going for him.

  13. What makes the KO even sweeter is that Rogan, DC and Din were completely caught up in the 'Losing to decision is a morale victory' narrative, and were completely shitting on Edwards for at least a round and a half.  Din's 'Edwards couldn't even look at his coaches which shows he's embarrassed and has mentally quit' comes across particularly stupid now.

Think the rematch will be a mirror of the Nunes/Pena fight, though.

  14. I thought MVP won easily as well,  but rewatched it,  and Perry did have quite a bit of success, so wasn't as bad as I first thought. I think the damage MVP was able to inflict with his punches sort of skews the success Perry was having.

Thought it was a cracking fight, too.  Exactly what most people were expecting. That sixth round shows how crazy BK can be.  MVP's face was looking untouched after five whole rounds, and then by the end of the sixth,  his eye was all swollen and his nose was messed up too.  Shows you how gruelling BK can be.

  15. Looks like you had a great time, ebb! I Just watched that Rory fight too, which is the first time Ive seen a PFL fight. Do they do that really annoying sound effect for every fight? The one when it tells you what speed they are throwing a punch at. Incredibly annoying and utterly pointless. Who gives a damn what speed a punch is? Its annoying enough that its on screen at all times, and then a hundred more times annoying that they use a video game like noise every time it changes.

  16. Outstanding thread! Dont think its been talked about yet in the thread, but I seem to remember the PS1 costing an insane amount! I kept the box for years, and can see the Electronics Boutique handwirtten price tag on it for well over £300. £329 maybe, which for the mid 90s is a lot of dough.

I played Tekken to death on it, but for some reason the main thing I think about is that it had a cardboard case. Dont think any other game had that! What was the reason for that?

Ill throw two games into the mix here:

    Die Hard Trilogy

Liam brought this up earlier in the thread, and it brought back some great memories. What a game! Not sure what the rational was behind doing three mini games, but it worked so well. My favourate was the arcade shooter, played that for hours on end. All three were great, mind.

    Psychic Detective

Speaking of ahead of its time, this definately falls into that catagory. Watching the youtube clips of this, Im not sure why the hell I bought it. Think it was in a Dixons '2 for £50' deal or something. Can remember playing this for ages, and always getting stuck at the same point. Funny to think we used to live in a world where if you got stuck, you simply couldnt continue, and would just have to play something else. I remember doing that plenty of times on this one.

  17. Can you believe that Garbrant vs Cruz was over 5 years ago? Since then hes gone 1-5. That Cruz win was a star making performance, despite him clearly being a cock. I wonder how different his career would have been if TJ was busted for the PEDs before their two fights. It really does look like those TJ fights took a part of his soul, as hes never been the same as that Cruz fight ever again. Maybe he bought into his own hype after the title win (wouldnt put it past him).

  18. Very entertaining main event. Wand wasnt holding his breath in seeing the old madman in this one, but the madman we got. He was on full on berserker mode for this one, and he was either winning or going down in a blaze of glory. The pace and energy he put into R2 especially was crazy/stupid (in hindsight). Hill comes out of it looking great. He took the best of what Santos had, and fought through it and delivered a nice little flurry to finish. He looked good on the ground too.

Speaking of looking great, how great did Neal look? That first round was a masterclass, and then he resumed business in the third to finish him off. Super smart fighting, and super smart corner work too. Worth checking out Saud's end of R2 speech to Neal. It certainly did the trick.

Everything else on the main card was fun to watch too. Usman looked like the modern day Brett Rogers. Only takes half of a punch from him to ring your bell. Spivak looked very good too.

  19. I think he's also the guy who turned his back on an opponent with a few seconds left of the round, to go back to his corner, and the other guy caught up to him and lamped him in the head? Think this is him! Would keep a mad pace, too.

Maybe the video would help but I find Nash's podcast way too slow. I had to take my phone out during a walk on more than one occasion during the first episode to make sure it was actually still playing, because he tends to gather his thoughts a lot. A bit of pre-game wine and medicinal, perhaps, for Big Sexy. I'll probably give it another shot though.

This was very noticable on the first episode, but three episodes in now and hes definately fixed this. Even during Ep2 its gone, so he must have listened to the feedback and worked on it. It carries on being a very good listen. Nash speaking about anything just seems inherently interesting.

  21. Is Pitbull, even on all the offical graphics during the actual event, ever called by his last name? I know its not an official graphic, but it just looks plain wrong.

That Spike Carlyle seems to ring a bell. Looking at his Wiki, he had a few UFC fights a few years back. One of them must have been a good watch, as I seem to remember him.
