  1. I'm working my way through Pride 2004 Heavyweight Grand Prix at the mo. In many ways I prefer it to the current UFC event, perhaps because it feels more like wrestling?

Awesome star studded fights, featuring some real legends such as Big Nog, Fedor, Cro Cop, Randleman etc.

    Bas Rutten commentary goodness

Cro Cop being interviewed laying down prefight :)

  2. The problem with the whole European thing is most people don't understand about it fully. I don't for one, I just know I don't want unelected officials in Brussels making decisions for us in Britain. Last year when we had the European elections there was little really to explain the whole thing to the average Joe. Instead we were flooded news of the MP expenses scandal.

  3. Farage Attacks Bilderberg EU President As “Quiet Assassin” Of Nation States

Good on for exposing this, shame elsewhere it was reported Farage causes offence to Belgium. Goes to show how the mainstream media manipulates the news!

"Perhaps that because you come from Belgium which is, of course, pretty much a non-country".

Yeah, the 'mainstream media' really could do with an injection of anti-European, xenophobic pomposity. You know, for balance.

My point is Farage was exposing who this non-elected person was, granted he didn't make himself look good in the process though. What Farage added on about Belgium is sadly what the media picked up on as opposed to the problem with the

    EU President.

  4. Anyone had any election leaflets/canvassers yet? Had a massive barmy with a UKIP activist today regarding their policy of wanting to scrap the Welsh assembly. Had the audacity to say that as i'm a member of Plaid Cymru, I have no balanced opinion. Great way to win votes!

Perhaps their standing on it is for a united Britain instead of devolution?

  5. I'm with Kiffy on this. I'm also mid 30s and I don't ever remember there being a local bobby that knew everyone's names and all that. I think that happened in Dixon of Dock Green in the 50s, but I reckon it's pretty much a race memory now.

Each generation thinks things have got worse because life as a kid is always sheltered from the realities of that era. The media bang on about asbos and hoodies now, but they were banging on about yobs in the 80s, punks in the 70s, mods and rockers in the 60s and Teddy Boys in the 50s.

Britain hasn't got worse in the last 50 years, it's got infinitely better. People generally don't die of rickets and polio, the mentally ill don't languish untreated in loony bins, there aren't food shortages and mass flu epidemics. Hotels don't have signs outside saying No Niggers, No Irish. Women aren't laughed out of the workplace. Everybody has a phone, a car, a tv, internet, a microwave. Of course there are things that we've lost, and that are worth lamenting, but this whole idea of Broken Britain, or "England's gone to the dogs"... it's just bollocks!

I don't mean to be getting bogged down in this but it looks like you've got it round the wrong way Loki. I meant we knew the coppers name not that he knew everyone else's name. As has been said it's because he came to the local school to talk about drugs etc. You would then recognise him riding his push bike. That's how he was part of the community.

I do agree with there generally, things have got better. A lot of how we view the state of the nation is via what is reported in the news and on TV. We are forever being told statistics. However mistakes are still being made in the management of the country and the coffers. People generally would like the police more if they knew who their local copper is.

By way the anyone see the bbc programme Wednesday night about giving unemployed people in Wisbeach work trials for the programme to see how they compared to the economic migrant workers? I got the impression from it Brits expect more than doing the jobs they were offered, such as spud packing and Asparagus picking. On the programme it was stated local people weren't applying for the menial work before the foreign workers came over.

Have our expectations been set too high?

  6. Back onto the topic of politics and government.

When you get a chance check out this video:

John Harris - It's an illusion 2, at BCG Conference London

The video is by John Harris and relates to how government deceives us, I think there is a bit on there about our ego too and how we are fighting our own ego.

If you don't have time to watch it have a butchers at this website about standing up to government and the illusion of the system we live under. You might not agree with it all but please take a look.

    EDIT:

There is no left or right...

  7. Yeah, except you come back to threads, yet still didn't acknowledge previous questions and just start posting something new.

So I don't know if you intentionally avoid questions or you just post stuff with no intention of ever reading responses or the rest of threads. Either way it makes what you post worthless, and trying to have a discussion with you incredibly frustrating. Seriously. So frustrating.

I have replied to Loki now, Sorry I can't be on here 24/7

Not sure if it was worth the effort lol

If I recall last time I replied to Loki in another off topic thread he went a bit quiet...

  8. Did you? What was his name?

He said his name was Bobby.

    :sneaky:

I'm just guessing he doesn't know, because it's just one of those Daily Mail things people say about some mythical England that existed before now that is actually total bollocks.

Loki, I don't see the point in questioning me to be honest, why would I lie that there used to be a local copper you would recognise and know the name of. It's a bit daft. I couldn't tell you the name of the policeman when I was a kid because it was bloody years ago!

I'm 34 mate. Lived through 4 different prime ministers so old enough to have noticed changes like this through life's experiences.

The fact we often don't know or at least recognise by face our local copper just goes to show how things have changed. We live in a faster paced world with a bigger population and less of a village way of life with a lot of people needing to commute to work spending more time away from their local area.

  9. Don't bother, I doubt he'll be back to answer, like all the conspiracy threads he starts.

    Ha, ha! :)

I think my ears were burning....

By the way you can always try PMing me if you have a question, I don't seem to be receiving thread updates at moment, don't know why?

Something to add relating to government in a moment.

  10. The Dr Who Movie with Paul McGann (1996)

Sky +'d it off Watch the other day, saw it first time around but couldn't remember the story or if any good. On a second viewing with 14 years passing since first seeing the film I was disappointed. Dr Who has been brilliant in it's latest incarnation since 2005, but this film version didn't do a lot for me. McGann was a good pick for the role, then we had the intrigue of what happened to Sylvester McCoy but it didn't take long for the film to lose my interest.

The problem was the lack of English quirkiness which is the essence of Dr Who, yes sadly the whole thing was too Americanised and serious.

  11. Yeah, I like that video. Though the cameraman really did pick that fight a little, he's pretty antagonistic to a couple of young officers.

People love knocking the police, but I wouldn't want to do that job. It's a thankless task and we expect them to always be on our side in any situation.

You could call it antagonistic but the whole point of the video was to make a point that police are not doing their job properly. This video demonstrated this, that was the whole purpose, not to start a fight. In fact the police officers seemed the more aggressive, the filmer simply stood his ground and knew what was right.

I've got nothing against the police when they do their job in a proper and correct manner. In the good old days we had a local policeman, otherwise known as the Bobby on the beat who was locally known and approachable.

  12. It would also seem that in the months since Griffin was on Question Time the BNP's membership hasn't "went through the roof"

That's because they stopped accepting new members due to them being forced to stop being a white only party.

The police, who we pay for via council tax, not doing their job correctly.

Don't they pay council tax too? Isn't that like going up to a BBC employee and saying "I pay your wages" when they do as well.

Of course they pay it too, what's your point though?

My point is that we ought to have a say in how they do their job as the public they are serving. If they aren't doing their job correctly this should be exposed and be disciplined accordingly. The same goes for politicians or any civil servant.

  13. 9430_137457248093_808303093_2411606_5892140_n.jpg

I love how nobody wanted to be in the room with his fucker, so he's had to take his own 8x10 promo shot with a digital camera. Somebodies actually married this bastard if you look at his left hand. Poor cow.

Isn't that actually the right hand though? Or is it in reverse because of the mirror?

  14. I seem to be watching loads of stuff thanks to Sky+ ;)

Big Bang Theory, Glee, Heroes, TUF 2, Egyptians (channel 5), Celebrity Quitters, CBB7, Flavor of Love season 3 and got Sons of Anarchy recorded.

Celebrity Quitters is good for Derek Accorah and Paul Danan, 2 great characters in totally different ways, thanks to Sky+ I flick through it on +6 :)

TUF 2 doesn't look as good other seasons I've seen, still worth a watch though.

Flavor of Love is brill! Great for bootilicious home-girls

  15. Has the UKFF been advertised somewhere recently? There appears to be an influx of new members, and some truely awful posters amongst them.

yes i'm new, i only logged on here to try and trace an event held on 16 th jan. I'm new to the scene, so might ask some stupid questions, but any help is appreciated.

Where was the show? The town and venue would help a lot more than the colour of the ring.

Yes it would make things a lot easier but unfortunatly i dont know the location other than approx an hours drive from st neots in cambridgeshire which makes it bucks, beds, cambs area.

Was on sat 16th jan, and had mens and womens matches, but other than that dont know a great deal more i'm afriad.

January 16th, Potters Bar, Hertford, Premier Promotions

Good man, you've put him out of his misery :)

Perhaps he was blindfolded and abducted

Welcome to the forum mate, hope you enjoyed the show. Premier are bloody good.

  16. Watched the first episode of Glee last night (recorded the second of the double bill).

    It was fun!

Some really funny characters (the principal is brilliant) and a lot of funny moments.

It got a bit lame at times, especially towards the end when there seemed to be no jokes at all for the last 10 minutes or so and it was all the emotional crap. But there was enough good that I'll keep watching, though I realise this means I'm going to have to endure a lot of singing if I keep up with the show.

Only time will tell if the good outweighs the bad, but for now I'm definitely willing to watch a few more episodes to find out. A good start.

Apparently this show did E4's biggest rating ever or somesuch. No-one else I know watched it apart from my friend I watched it with. No-one else on here watch it either? Who was watching??

The mrs and are watching Glee, it's good for a giggle.

    EDIT:

Didn't watch all of the first ep but got the idea of it. It reminded me of that Australian comedy where the same actor played 3 parts(?) but more cheesy in an American way on purpose :D:p

My son who is now 9 wanted to see it but I think there were a few bits not right for his age. As has been said often it goes over their heads. Funny watching some programmes where you laugh as an adult and they don't get it and ask why it was funny :) He watches Big Bang Theory which seems to be fine. I find some of the stuff on the wrestling is worse for a 9 year old, TNA can be cringe-worthy and their ahem T&A.
