  1. Imagine my horror when @neil closed the old YT thread last night, the day before I planned to once again casually drop one of my own videos into it, as though that's acceptable behaviour. Now I look like a right nobber by starting a whole new thread for it.

Anyway, dump your farting dogs and out of date sea shanty parodies in here, as this is the new YouTube thread.

And here's a video essay I did to conclude my dissection of Jim Davidson's mucky panto trilogy. Probably not worksafe.

Was Big Boss Man ever, even once, on a b show, even in passing, ever referred to as Top Boss Man?

Back when my dad used to get the WWF recorded from Sky from a friend when I was about 8 years old, I seem to remember seeing him and the caption on the screen said "Top Boss Man".

Did this happen, or have I got the weirdest case of false memory syndrome?

Maybe there's a (hilarious) subconscious muddling with the Top Cat thing, which was retitled Boss Cat over here because there was a Top Cat brand of cat food.

    This is disgraceful.

Immediately barred from getting likes or RTs on Twitter for inciting violence. Very presidential to the end.

Another copper then pointed out how bright the stars were tonight, in depth, for ages (eh?).

Your subconscious concocted a cover story, using images that wouldn't break your brain. You were abducted by aliens. Norman is an intergalatic warlord.

  5. Fucking hell. It's hard not to sound disingenuous in an RIP thread, but I genuinely loved watching this guy in WWE, so much so, I hung on in a bit longer before stopping altogether, just FFWding through to his bits every week. That video with his son is just unbearable now.

  6. I don't know if this counts, but I was in my thirties before I realised mince pies did not contain mince. Up to that point, I'd always instinctively turned them down when offered, because it felt weird to be eating a meat pie with your Christmas cake and whatnot. My family thought I was mental when I finally twigged it, but in my defence, the whole confusion is basically this:

"Would you like a chicken pie?"

    "No thanks, I'm a vegetarian."

"Eh?! What makes you think there's meat in there? In this case, 'chicken' actually refers to spiced fruits."

  7. Best British Wrestler - Danny Boy Johnson. For a good decade, the unsung hero of genuinely hilarious internet content, and now he's putting that humour into a brilliant wrestling character. Unmatched in consistently great social media stuff this year too, pumping out great videos and posts all through Lockdown and beyond, so put him down for Best Use of Social Media too. Awooga!

Well that guy looks like someone whose opinion I want to hear... 😳

He looks like someone you see losing their deposit on election night.

The only person I’d be as excited to see back would be Dutch, but as they wrote around him in S2, I’m guessing he’s not board

Fucking love Dutch. I used to do that little headroll warmup thing he did when we played football at lunchtime in school, like a prick. If he wasn't up for it before, then moving to Netflix and everything blowing up so big at least increases the chances of any of the actors wanting to come back. And him being in jail in storyline offers up plenty of possibilities if he does change his mind. Sleeping on Kreese's couch because he's just got out and got nowhere to stay, being offered a job in the Dojo to keep his probation officer off his back etc.

Although they could've just done what they did when he wasn't available for the Karate Kid II opening, and had someone in a baseball cap stand with their back to the camera, even though his best mate was getting beaten up.

  10. I know everyone shits on the third film, but since Cobra Kai was announced, there's nobody I've been more excited about seeing than Terry Silver. He's part of that trio of the greatest 80's villains: Silver, Drago & Vigo. Although, if anything, he's aged too well. I want him to come in with a grey skullet ponytail, like Jesse Ventura.

Are we sure that screengrab isn't Dave Lee Travis?

If you haven't seen the Sutcliffe documentary on iPlayer, it's superb. The focus on women and police incompetence is really well done.

Echoing this, it's fantastic. The Netflix one (obviously I guess) covers the same ground and mostly the same interviewees, mostly leaving big Pete out of it like the BBC did, to the point I even checked to see if it was a retitled re-edit. But where Netflix's really falls down is the unnecessary zooming and cropping of all that gorgeously grim period footage. The BBC version, leaving it all in its native 4:3, has some of the best and most evocative 70's local news footage I've ever seen, which Netflix ruins by artificially letterboxing to the point you can only see about a third of it.

I was so uplifted by 'whom' being correctly used that the second 'with' really knocked me for six.

I really don't want to come across all "you owe me a new keyboard, good sir!" but this resulted in me inhaling a bit of pasta, almost fatally.

  13. That's why I liked it too. I figured it'd be a Changing Lanes thing where (spoilers for Unhinged)

    Spoiler

a series of minor transgressions slowly escalated between the two leads, but he's stabbing people in the head in front of loads of witnesses right off the bat

  14. The one minor quibble I'd have is we never got the money shot of them reuniting. I spent all week looking forwards to seeing Baby Yoda running to his daddy for uppies, but after Mando bests Gideon, he just wanders in carrying him. Other than that, I'm still beaming about it 12 hours later.
