  1. So I've been re-listening to a lot of these shows again (from around 1999 - 2004) and really enjoying them.

I've uploaded 4 of the Tom Zenk shows to YouTube for your listening pleasure since he's probably my favourite guest:

    https://youtu.be/9tOZQiev-Ps
    https://youtu.be/6ijcMHRNXks
    https://youtu.be/ChabOwZCRXw
    https://youtu.be/XmkBJvOElFs

    Other guests that were great:
    Frank Shamrock
    Bobby Heenan
    Jim Cornette
    Bruno Sammartino
    Don Frye
    Larry Matysik
    Bad News Allen

    Memorable moments:

When 'Star in Seattle' burned Dave Meltzer (Jim Cornette was the guest) https://youtu.be/2reTIOHdb9M
Bret Hart buys a house from Monty Burns https://youtu.be/GpgOnIe1UGU

Does anyone else have any thoughts on the old Observer Radio shows? Favourite moments or guests?

Out of curiosity, is anyone looking for any Silver Vision tapes to complete a collection? I’ll be possibly clearing out my mums house soon and I’ve got most of the Coliseum tapes right up to the Tribute series (most of it) and a fair chunk of the PPVs from 88-97 and some beyond. Best of Raw 1-6 too. They all play, most have sleeves in good nick, a few have the transfers/hologram cards/stamps they came with.

Notable exceptions ; I’m missing UK Rampage 92, WrestleFest 92 and… I think that’s it? I’ve got the lesser known ones like Crunch Classic, Invasion, US Rampage 91 & 92. Yes, I’ve got Year In Review 1992 where the master got lost and it will never be on the Network.

There will be some where the quality isn’t amazing. Survivors 89 and Rumble 93 have weakened a little, they were my first. Rumble 91 has volume a bit up and down and I bet SummerSlam 88 is the same. Mega Matches and SuperTape 92 are probably in the same boat and Battle of the Superstars 92 was from a car boot when I got it so sleeve is slightly tatty etc.

I won’t be doing it for a while yet but I’d happily earmark tapes in advance for a fair price plus postage. Wouldn’t be as cold as just whacking them on eBay.

    Interested in these:

    WrestleMania IV (3/27/88)

    Royal Rumble '89 (1/15/89)

    WrestleMania V (4/2/89)

    SummerSlam '89 (8/28/89)

    Survivor Series ‘90 (11/22/90)

    Royal Rumble ‘91 (1/19/91)

    SummerSlam ‘91 (8/26/91)

    Survivor Series ‘91 (11/27/91)

    SummerSlam '92 (8/29/92)

    Survivor Series '92 (11/25/92)

    Royal Rumble '93 (1/24/93)

    WrestleMania IX (4/4/93)

    SummerSlam '93 (8/30/93)

King of the Ring '94 (6/19/94)

King of the Ring '95 (6/25/95)

    SummerSlam '95 (8/27/95)

The rarest one I know of is WF 281

Taking it 2 Xtremes, this was a cut down version of the TLC Video they put out and tends to get good pricing but I guess some of the late releases where DVD was well and truly up and running. I expect Summerslam 2005 being the last VHS will be quite rare with numbers made

Bit like how Now 35 on Vinyl is worth a bloody fortune

I have a King of the Ring '01 (6/24/01) / Taking it 2Xtremes (Double VHS)

He's still majority share holder and major roles are held by his daughter and son in law unless I've missed something, so how gone he actually is and for how long is still to be seen if it is just intended as a PR move from him until the heat blows over.

    Agreed, Tommy.

The people who think Vince has really retired are the same people who actually believed Elon was really going to buy Twitter. So cute and naĂŻve.

The shocking inability of wrestling fans to spot when they're being lied to by conmen is amazing.

At one stage, the tape of the [redacted] show was sent directly by [redacted] to the playout centre rather than processed by Herbie and co in their office in Dublin like all the other footage.

That lasted until one episode of [redacted] included an advert for a tape trader.

Only 3 companies ever delivered direct to playout, I believe.

Cage Warriors which was edited by Ian Dewhirst, which we never had an issue with. And I think maybe RQW did it too, and Mark Sloan may have edited some 1PW footage? I'm not 100% certain.

Do you remember who it was? You have some memory, John!

The tape traders of the day were in uproar claiming this new channel was going to put them all out of business. The two guys behind Outcast Video (quality trader btw) in particular had a proper meltdown in a thread on here when plans for TWC were announced.

Any threats from any of the traders Herbie?

lol nah, I've never even interacted with any of them.

Of course, hindsight is a wonderful thing; anything Alex Shane got his fingers in was doomed to fail

TWC had nothing to do with Alex Shane though. He helped us run and book International Showdown in 2005 and did a great job. That was his only involvement besides being part of the FWA, which we aired. He also introduced us to the guys at Cage Warriors which we ended up airing. And I think he was involved with RQW (with Len Davies) too, which was on the channel for a brief period.

I've had a few dealings with Alex Shane over the years and they've all been positive. But of course, that's just my personal experience. 🙂

Re the above. I'm sure I read the other day that when Gendry got to The Wall, it was dark, and the next time you see them on the rock, it was light. So they kinda acknowledged some time had passed.

Yeah, it seemed like dusk. Just watched it back to get those screenshots.

Are we also assuming their days have 24 hours? We know their seasons are off. Winter last 100 years. So what if 1 day is 70 hours?

if they spend a couple second showing us evidence of the fact that they at least camped there overnight then it's easier to reconcile the timeline in your head and no-one would bother making a question of it at all.

They did though. It cut to them sitting in a huddle completely frozen, for what could have been days. They even found Dennis Pennis dead.

That to me means "significant time has passed - you decide how much". They were all asleep - that indicates they were so knackered that they fell asleep while surrounded by wights.

    got%2002.png

    got%2003.png

  10. I don't really care about the travelling time - let's say it took 4 days then. So what? Did you want them to waste 3 episodes sitting on the ice talking about life?

And who says gravity is the same as Earth? Maybe ravens can fly faster in Westeros. Why weren't these dorks complaining about the fact that Wights don't really exist, or swords can't go on fire out of nowhere? Or virtually everything else not being based on Earth physics & reality?

  11. You missed my entire point.

I've said I don't take it seriously. I didn't throw a "tantrum" either, so stop exaggerating in an attempt to change the narrative here - as if I'm flipping out in a massive uncontrolled rage.

I said it's a stupid & flawed system and clearly explained why with specific examples to back me up. I was just asking if it's a necessary feature to have, and I asked in the exact forum that I'm supposed to ask in - this isn't off topic, is it?

The voting system encourages pandering. Another example would be @David in the MMA forum. He's a great contributor, but people don't always agree with his opinions - but he argues them well and is a valued contributor. But he has a shit rating purely because of this dumb system. The only way a poster like David can ever get a positive rating would be to turn into a pandering lick arse & go around agreeing with everyone. Is that good for the forum? That is my question/point here.

I like the system as a way of saying "I agree with this / I like this" without posting only that with nothing more of interest to say and clogging the forum with noise.

This bit makes sense. But in my case, I posted a joke that was hilarious but some dry shites (& Ed Sheeran fans) didn't get it, so it got downvoted. That's the equivalent of someone not agreeing with your Top 5 Movies list. It's not a proper use of the voting system IMO.

It should be used when people agree with your point or your argument, or when you've posted something really informative (like Lister does in the politics threads).

And to be clear - it doesn't "bother" me (or I wouldn't have posted about it above) - it's just stupid & massively flawed. All the other downvotes I accept, but the 26 I got for a joke about Ed Sheeran being in GoT that his fans didn't like (since they have no sense of humour) is simply bullshit.

I'm sure that post will soon get you back up, Herb.

No point giving a fuck about that now, is there? It's too late for me. Too easy to be downvoted, too hard to claw it back.

Just wondering why it's even a feature. It changes how some people are posting. Popularity contest trumps discussion now.

Pretty sure we're going by UK air time, which finishes around 10:15pm every Monday.

    Cool - good to know. I wasn't 100% sure.

Even though I commented on the episode above, there were no spoilers. But I did assume it was the US air date since once it airs there it's out in the ether. Even though I pay for Sky Atlantic, I still torrent it because myself & the missus like watching it a bit earlier in the evening.

  15. I know, I know. I sat up - was fist bumping my wife for the last 20 mins annoying the hell out of her.
"7 seasons we've been waiting for this!! Let's fucking go!"

And then the last 30 seconds - holy fuck.
Tyrion: "You idiot. You fucking idiot"

    I love Bronn.
    Jaime: Brickon.
    Dickon: Dickon
    Bronn:
    looool
