    Speaking of being in charge, or ‘leadership’, these things people are digging out are fascinating;

You sort of just get this impression of someone, I’ve said before, who is utterly in thrall to the idea of the ‘old school locker room leader’ and spent his career trying to fast forward to that point, and now he’s age appropriate people still aren’t buying it and he can’t handle it.

My hot take on the whole situation is, he sounds an awful lot of hard work.

I think what made it worse is that he did some MMA training for 18 months and then came back to wrestling thinking he was a hard lad or some sort of shooter. I bet Punk feels he's similar to Lesnar who also left WWE, had a stint in UFC, then came back.

    Probably.

I know 4 people who haven't been fully paid. Dozens who chased their money and got it after threatening to go public.

This man is a con artist and always has been.

At this stage, if you get burned by 1PW/Gauntley it's your own fault. How many warnings do people need?

I would hazard a guess there are more than 30k fans of AEW in Europe.

I don't watch any wrestling anymore, and I'm 70% tempted to fly over from Ireland to go. Make a weekend of it.

The crazy bastards just might do big numbers here, based on spectacle and buzz.

I never knew about the YouTube channel! I just had a scan over the videos uploaded on there, can't wait to get stuck in to those!

It's so much better with the visuals. I've watched them all now. The 2 hosts are so funny. Like, I can't actually get over how sharp their wit is on the fly.

I love OSW, but Wrestle Me has to be my new favourite.

Tempted to get stuck in with WrestleMe but a bit overwhelmed with the hundreds of episodes. Is there a good starting point?

Watch the YouTube channel, because some guy (BanyaBat) syncs up footage with the podcast and it's amazing:

So this is the perfect starting point because there aren't as many episodes. I started with the early Wrestlemanias and the 1987 Slammy episode is gold.

On the strength of this video alone I’m gonna finally give Wrestle Me a go!

Been meaning to anyway after seeing nothing but positive comments on here about it but this video has sold me. And I’m off to watch a bunch of ‘Supercock’ Rick’s squash matches now.

Will also give this a shot. Always up for a good wrestling podcast, with so much crap out there.

  7. RIP.

First time I went to Disneyworld in November 2016, he was staying at our hotel (Art of Animation) and I'd bump into him most mornings at breakfast and make some wrestling small-talk while we queued for our omelettes. Feel so sorry for his kids. Seemed like a great Dad.

  8. Been watching the Tales of the Territories series. The Andy Kaufman episode was amazing, but the rest of them I just find it so hard to believe a word any of them say. Old carnies remembering stories wrong, or exaggerating them, or just making them up. Exactly what I expected TBH, because we've heard it all before in shoot interviews.

Funny moment in the AWA one though where Madusa calls out Greg Gagne for not having paid the same dues as everyone else, and then the moment where Ken Patera tried to proclaim his innocence over the McDonalds thing and nobody believed him and he got livid.

More likely to blow out a knee or face plant though, I'd guess.

You shouldn't be diving off a balcony in Doncaster for a handful of fans anyway, but if you want to and you've planned it out to be safe and some fat cunt breaks one of the tables I can write off carrying on as adrenaline or inexperience and understand it. That said you'd think an experienced crew would have worked a way out of it by cutting him off and working in a safer table spot.

And they call us the marks. Almost crippling yourself for £50. Maaaaan...

Rumour that Punk could be fired today ...

    From Fighful:

    • SRS has heard from reputable sources who have said they heard Punk was injured in the melee, though no one has outright told him to
    • SRS definitively states that Punk was "absolutely wrong" about the Elite leaking the Colt Cabana rumor to him, Dave, or Bryan
    • SRS says he sat on a story for 3 months that AEW talent had felt that Punk had cost Cabana his job and that the Bucks were the ones to save it. He reached out to Cabana for confirmation, who essentially told SRS that he didn't want to talk about Punk or the situation, so SRS was hesitant to publish w/o confirming
    • SRS says that no one is rushing to his DMs to defend Punk, though there are people who see his side
    • SRS says people believe Steel will try to get his job back at NXT but that's not expected to happen after the melee
    • SRS got a phone call from a very well-connected person in wrestling at 5 AM that Punk was under the impression that he was going to be let go. SRS noted that this person never broke news to him before.
    • SRS makes the point that Punk wants everything to be covered fairly yet won't talk to the media
    • SRS is asked about the Brian Last report that multiple people were suspended and that Punk/Omega talked. SRS says information is all over the map: he's heard Steel has been fired, Punk is supposed to have a meeting today and was expecting to be fired, etc. but cannot verify anything as of yet
    • SRS thinks that WWE will at least reach out to Punk if he were to be let go from AEW and see if an agreement could be made
    • SRS says that if he were Tony he would quickly launch an investigation and found out who was at fault in totality, especially with the physical aspect, and then suspend talent and fire Ace Steel
    • SRS spoke with a top WWE talent that said they need AEW to thrive for the sake of the entire industry and fear another monopoly even with HHH at the helm
    • SRS says the call he got last night implied that WBD was not happy

    Who's SRS?
