I've noticed ads for his company are all over the MLW website. Does he own part of it, or is he just throwing money their way so they give him all the shows he wants?

Probably works for free in exchange for banner ads. He doesn't need the cash that MLW would pay for a host, so he's probably best off getting free plugs for his business. Makes sense TBH. Alice Radley worked for free.

  2. Ah, the plot thickens. So basically Bruce takes Conrad's shit because he's on a weekly retainer just to be his mate? This makes so much sense now.

lol - I doubt he pays Bruce. Well actually, who knows....

He paid Ric though - at the start anyway. They met at a convention (that's how much Conrad discloses) and Conrad invited Ric to hang out with him for a fee (which Conrad omits from the story, but Flair has referred to a few times before, much to Conrad's chagrin), and then they became "mates". But I'd say he still buys the drinks and whatever other expensese are involved with them being friends.

EDIT: Found the clip. It was the Orndorff episode.

You can almost hear Conrad wincing and going "fuuuuck - STFU Ric!" Then quickly avoids the question & moves on ASAP:

  3. In fairness, when I bothered listening to it, the Flair podcast was much better than you would expect. Going in you imagine you were getting him pissing tears every time someone gave him a compliment, but he was good fun for most of it.

The Flair podcast was great at the start - when they had Bret on - around that time. Flair was hilarious, he has a great memory, the show had a format, Conrad was well researched & kept some structrue, and he also knew when to STFU. The latter Flair shows were a bit of a rambling mess; the main problem was that Conrad no longer acted like a host - he started joining in on the laughing & interrupting, like 3 friends in a pub.

There was even one show where Flair & Conrad were both drunk, and it was complete shite. Just shouting and laughing. That was the turning point for me when Conrad had turned from a good podcast host into trying to be "one of the boyz". It's a shame, because for the first 10+ episodes of Woooo! Nation he was an amazing host.

I remember Flair unintentionally buried Conrad once (the Orndorff episode, I think) when he told Orndorff that Conrad pays wrestlers to come over to his house & hang out and he should avail of it - he pays like $5k or something, for legends to watch matches with him & hang out, and that's how they met. You could tell Conrad was freaked he said it, but it was true and he also couldn't tell Ric to shut up.

  4. When he blurts out "fucker" or "motherfucker" at Bruce I cringe, he sounds like a total tosser in the way he says it.

Yeah, that's the main thing I'm referring to. He sounds stupid when he curses - maybe it's his accent. He's too over-familiar with Prichard. Sure, call Prichard out on is bullshit, but stop calling him a motherfucker for no reason.

  5. Watched dear Zachary after reading this thread and don't think I've saw a more powerful documentary in my life. Ended up buying the book the dad wrote and reading it in a day after.

One of those programmes you see and just can't stop thinking about for a few days afterwards.

Saw it 8 years ago and I still think about it occasionally but regularly. It's the definition of tragedy. Those poor parents, and small child.

  6. PCW added a poster for their Kris Travis tourney without Pentagon Jnr on it, so myself and some others were reasonably concerned.

Had a great chat with Fludder about it.

Not sure how they can do the likes of what they did with Riddle and expect anyone to trust them.

    What a fucking tosser.

  7. I'm really in to geek culture based docs these days. I think I've seen every computer game based doc that's available to watch online, like wise with skate docs.

Assume you've seen Stoked - The Rise and Fall of Gator (2002)? Amazing doc.

  8.

Watching Judge Rinder and two lads are on there regarding a bet they made for McGregor vs Aldo. Amazing!

I never knew it went that far between David and Herbie.

It was Gooner I bet £100 with, and then he weaselled out when I looked for payment. Tried to laugh it off as if I was dragging up old posts. "Lol, why are you bringing something old up?" (via PM)

  9. And here is Dean Ambrose, Rich Swann and Drake Younger's interpretation of it.

    Class!

It must have been a running joke in CZW amongst their wrestlers. Because when I casually passed comment to M-Dogg 20 about how naff their theme song was (CZW sent it to us to use on TWC), he was all over it & started singing it - he knew all the words. We had commented that it sounded like it'd been sung down a phone. And of course Jody & Jonny had been to CZW too in the BOTB2 tourny. And Alex Shane & Burridge were on the same IWW tour, so just decided to join in.

I had to convince Alex Shane to take his top off - he didn't want to at first and commented that he doesn't even wrestle with his top off. Ironically, I told him to stop being so gay and just take his top off, we'll lash on a strobe, and I'll film him playing drums. It was just a goof in the TWC office one evening before an IWW tour kicked off in March 2005.

  10. Speaking of drumming, Herbie, I watched a Chris Hero interview recently where he mentioned that for the Wrestling Channel, you created a commercial for CZW where Alex Shane, Sonjay Dutt and Jonny Storm mimed the CZW theme and were pretending to play instruments. Have you any memory of this? I vaguely seem to recall it.

Alex Shane, M-Dogg 20 (Matt Cross), Jody, Jonny, Burridge. It was during an IWW tour and we were slagging off the CZW theme song, so decided to make a video for it because M-Dogg knew the words.

Anyone else get the feeling we're being worked?

It never ceases to amaze me how whatever happens someone will always cry 'work'. You probably thought Benoit was a work.

Morons do it with everything so if it ever turns out to be a work, they can say they called it (and link to it, becasue they saved the URL to the post) and get 500 internet cred points.

  12. Who is acting the cunt? People with experience with 'illegal substances' commenting on recognisable behaviour are being cunts? I'd say that's simply relevant to the conversation.

"She's gotta be sniffing something. She's got that coke fiend look to her"

"She looks like she's been sold into slavery, he is her master and she is frightened to leave or incable of leaving due to her daily dose of forced happy pills."

    "A fucking coked up dummy"

"She looks like a smack head"

None of the above would really matter except that people know full well her fucking Dad is on here - have a bit of respect for the guys daughter.

  13.

Some of the comments on here are not at all necessary.

I strongly concur with that. Some people are really acting the cunt.

Normally it wouldn't matter, as the people involved wouldn't be reading it - but they know Ricky is on here and are intentionally trying to twist the knife. It's a pussy move.
