  1. When watching Classic Corrie you forget just how good the Don Brennan character was. Loved how they slowly turned him from babyface to a full on heel.

Speaking of Classic Corrie, Les Battersby will arrive within the next couple of weeks.

Quite enjoying this Ian Beale storyline atm.

I am hoping its the Covid that kills him in the end though especially as no one is wearing masks on the show.

EastEnders had been making more of an effort to get the actors closer to each other with plexiglass etc.  It sticks out something terrible when the "couples" are still keeping their distance in their own homes.

  3. I know the soaps have a habit of stealing storylines from each other, but EastEnders and Corrie are practically running the same story leading into Christmas. EastEnders has "Who left Ian Beale for dead?" and Corrie has "Who left Adam Barlow for dead?" Both attacks were very similar too.  I know they've had their work cut out because of Covid restrictions, but that takes the piss.

  4. 1993 should've been one hell of a year for Bret if the rumours were true. They apparently wanted the Warrior to lose to him via the sharpshooter at the Rumble and then he was originally meant to regain his title back from Hogan at SummerSlam.  Instead 1993 became the year when you first noticed how thread bare the roster had become. By the time they got to Survivor Series it looked awful. Looking back, the New Generation era was pretty shit.

Yeah. Fuck those Talking head shit shows. They’re all scripted anyway so better to watch the thing they’re pretending to have watched.

They were fine until Channel 5 went overboard with the format

Comic Strip didn’t have the cultural impact people who love it think it did, launched some careers but most were already known or started on the Young Ones. It was very good, but it’s never the top of the list of things the main cast are remembered for now.

The 80s one will be a bit crap anyway, 60 minutes on Countdown and The Tube, maybe 15 to 1 if they can be bothered. Could pad it out with Desmonds but that just crept in at the end of the 80s, most of its run was in the 90s.

I'd assume Saturday Live would feature heavily in the 80s episode

In fairness, Lenny Henry is a bigger 80s icon than all of those except maybe Vivien, who is a character.

Just seemed an odd choice as Lenny was always a BBC guy during the 80s.

  8. Sunday 27th Dec  9.00pm Back to the 80s with Lenny Henry

Monday 28th Dec 9.00pm Back to the 90s with Vic Reeves

Tuesday 29th Dec 10.00pm Back to the Noughties with Davina McCall

Wednesday 30th Dec 10.00pm Back to the 2010's with Jimmy Carr

All decades will be focused on Channel 4 programmes from the past. Sounds pretty decent. Although they should've had someone from The Comic Strip Presents to host the 80s show.

  9. It's the same over on Digital Spy, you get the odd poster that spits their dummy out because nobody backed up their point. They usually pop back up a week later when someone talks shit about them. JRPO is obviously reading these posts now but trying to save face by not logging back in.

So, the Christmas Radio Times is out. as expected I shall only be watching ITV3 on Xmas Day, other than a quick jump to BBC2 for Morecambe and Wise. No Bond film again this year either, fucks sakes.

With the passing of Sean this year I thought ITV would've went back to tradition and aired a classic Bond movie on Christmas Day. Instead there's a pre recorded episode of This Morning and more cooking shite with James Martin taking up around 5 hours combined.

Any chance of getting HBO Max over here?

It would surprise me if we get the full HBO Max service in the UK anytime soon because of their agreement with Sky. Although most of the programming will probably end up on either Sky Atlantic or Sky Comedy. For example Sky has just purchased the rights for The Fresh Prince to air on Sky Comedy from January and it includes the Reunion show that's available on Max. Although it seems odd why Sky splashed the cash on The Fresh Prince knowing that the BBC was going to add the full boxset to the iPlayer from January also.
