Been watching the good The Office, about halfway through series 3. Very funny and nice to see where all the gifs and memes specifically came from.

I've been rewatching this over the last month and the main takeaway I have from it now is how much of an absolute bellend Jim is. I detest that prick.

I was thinking of starting a Twitter thread detailing how much of a knob he is, episode by episode, but let's be honest, I'll give up by episode 3.

I was watching a Season 5 episode the other night and the office are all debating if Hilary Swank is hot or not. He acts as though he's above the discussion and just wants everyone to get on with their work, then when he realises nobody is listening to him he has to take charge of the whole discussion like it's some type of Powerpoint presentation.

He sulks because Charles Minor has the audacity to not think he's adorable. God forbid somebody doesn't think the sun shines out his arse.

Sorry. It's probaby not healthy to be this fixated on a fictional character being an utter dickhead but here we are.

Jeremiah Green, the drummer from Modest Mouse has died aged only 45.

Bloody hell, that's awful. One of my formative bands that lead me to discovering music existed outside of Limp Bizkit and Slipknot. I'll give We Were Dead... a spin tomorrow in his memory. RIP.

    Man vs Bee

I'm a sucker for anything Rowan Atkinson does. A very easy watch with relatively short chapters. It's Mr.Bean-esque daft slapstick. Apart from going toe to toe with the bee, there's a nice background element to it too as he tries to make money to go on holiday with his daughter etc. It won't win an oscar but it made me chuckle.

I think with anybody else it could've been terrible, but Rowan Atkinson is so good at physical comedy he turns it into something surprisingly decent.

  4. I don't mind the Mox bleeding trope. Looking at it from a kayfabe point of view, he's been busted open so many times now that it makes sense that his head is held together by papier-mâché and the slightest touch would cause him to start pissing blood.

  5. I only watched Home Alone recently. I mean I watched it as a kid, but remembered hardly anything about it. What I found interesting is that the booby-trap stuff only takes up about 10-15 minutes of the film, whereas in my memory it was the entire thing.

It's class and the Old Man Marley scene in the church is lovely.

I haven’t seen 5 yet but from what I gather I can be confident in it’s placement here, but having recently watched Die Hard 1-4 my code is 14325.

Absolutely bang on this. Obviously the first is a stone-cold classic. 4 is underrated, I really like it but it gets shat on a lot. 3 is fine, 2 is boring as fuck and 5 is disgraceful.

And HOOK running off Big Bill, a literal giant of a human who looks like he could tear a normal person's head off with his bare hands, was quite frankly ridiculous.

I loved this. Hook has kinda plateaued for me the last few months, so someone the size of Big Bill thinking 'fuck that' and running off brings back some of that hard-as-fuck aura he had a year ago.

Stokely is still shite, though. If they're so desperate to have a smarmy smug heel manager running a faction they already had Smart Mark Sterling on the books. Instead he's lumbered doing his best with two dullards whilst Stokeley is actively dragging down decent mid-card acts like Ethan Page and the Gunns.

There's no way Statlander would have won the TBS title, surely? I've not read anything suggesting this was the plan; but if she had, it would have been a big mistake. I don't think you'll find many people complaining about the role Jade Cargill is playing in AEW right now, she's the best thing their women's division has to offer, and one of the few female wrestlers they have who genuinely feels like a megastar.

She was getting big reactions just before she got injured and I remember thinking at the time that she was much more suited to taking the TBS title than Athena, who was getting that 'shiny new toy' push.

I don't think it gets remembered much becuase she got injured, but there was definitely a period of a few weeks where the crowd organically got super into her and she was red-hot.

  9. I really enjoyed the Pure, TV and World Title matches. Garcia/Wheeler are always good together, Samoa Joe is having a great run at the moment and Jericho/Claudio was a proper main event with a great finish. The Jericho ROH title run was really good fun actually.

I'm a massive fan of commentators taking offence to wrestlers then getting soundly beaten, so if we get Caprice Coleman vs Jericho on a throwaway Dynamite I'd love that.

Briscoes/FTR suffered a bit from that forced-epic thing for me. I didn't believe any of the near-falls for the first twenty minutes because they're always consciously trying to out-do their last match. Gunns/FTR should be a decent program, the Ass Boys are great dickhead heels and really good in-ring considering they've only been going a couple of years.

A couple of the matches were rough. I know he's got his fans on here but I'm not big on Rush or his brothers, and all four guys timing seemed off throughout this match. The less said about the finish the better. Athena/Mercedes was ugly too. Athena is much better suited as a heel though and her dominating for a while before getting dethroned by Willow would be ideal. And whilst it was a decent match, the faux-MMA offence in the Swerve match was embarassing. That stuff hardly ever looks good so I don't know why they bother.

They've got the talent to make an entertaining if inessential weekly show, but I can't see ROH ever getting above that level.

Throughout his NXT run it was the same with Blake, I struggle to sit through his matches. I am pretty forgiving when it comes to wrestlers not having "the look" but my god he has a bad look.

He looks like George Costanza's dad.

  11. This William Regal stuff is some of the worst writing AEW have ever done. What an absolute mess. Moxley looked like he wanted fuck all to do with that segment and even Regal looked like he was cutting his promo with a gun to his head.

Look at the other times things haven't worked out for them. Their reaction is usually pretty good. Exploding ring fucks up? Send two of their best promo guys in Mox and Kingston to arm-wave it away. Punk has a meltdown? Strip him of the belt, don't mention his name. This Regal stuff just keeps getting muddier and muddier. At this point, they're going to make MJF vs Danielson all about Regal whilst Regal is having a laugh in the Performance Center with HBK.

Why they didn't just have Regal never show up again after the Moxley 'run' promo will never make sense to me.

  12. A recent stand-alone Christmas special I really enjoyed is Click & Collect with Stephen Merchant and Asim Chaudhry. Watching that has become a bit of an Xmas tradition these last few years.

Imagine a British Jingle All The Way with Stephen Merchant in the Arnie role and you're not far off.
