  1. I'm loving the special edition of Alien 3. Anyone know why they didn't go ahead with this version instead of what was released?

Its interesting that the alien grew inside of the cow and not the dog but it means the storyline changes slightly.

Fox's creative control. Fincher walked out before final editing citing constant interference. He even refused to have anything to with the director's cut.

The original cut is a mess with the assembly cut it actually comes off ok. You find out more of what happened to the convicts instead of them just vanishing from the original cut.

  2. Thought the tag title match was superb. Best match of the night by a long shot and had me jumping in my seat whilst watching in work.

Couldn't get into the main event once Nakamura stopped selling the knees. It just annoyed me far too much and I was pleased and shocked when Joe won.

Wish some elements of the crowd would just fuck off though. Fight Forever during Roode and Dillinger. Jesus.

  3. There was one Bucks shirt but we're talking £25 a shirt. They did have a different price at one point but they had scrubbed it out with a marker and went with £25. Same with the dvd price. Was something else then scrubbed out and replaced with £15.

  4. Found this part of everything that's being reported very interesting.

"It is noted that documents produced by the defendants show that they never had "any real intention of recognizing Corgan as the company's President in charge of the operations", noting that an email between the defendants and Anthem Media noted, "Mr. Corgan may have an agreement providing him with a title, but in the absence of a document

delegating authority to him, it is a vacuous appointment.""

  5. Just watched Black Mass. Depp is good but the film is so muddled and no one really gets a chance to stand out.

Saying that Joel Edgerton is the spit of tango and cash era Kurt Russell ( if he were looking directly into the sun)

I read the book before watching this and well loved the book and was a little let down by the film. But there is just so much shit Whitey was involved in its impossible to put it into a movie and do it justice.

Get the book. I think you'd enjoy it more.

  6. I love Fifa 16. First one I had played in 6 years and really enjoyed it.

Lots of enthusiasm for getting Fifa 17 and 2 days after buying its going off to CEX to be traded. So annoyed I didn't try the demo first. Hopefully Destiny's Rise of Iron is a better bet.

    Anyone else disappointed with it?

  7. Have to echo the Paxton love and love his turn in True Lies as Simon and also recently loved him in Marvel's Agents of Shield as John Garrett.

Hudson staying alive is a long shot as he's only shown being dragged down by yhe aliens but never expressly killed off but fuck it even a Hudson flashback would make me smile. My biggest concern would be how CGI Bishop would be considering Lance Henriksen is now 75. Obviously he'd be a voiceover if Bishop is brought back and there is no reason why not.

Did you ever find the Director's Cut just a bit off with the voices. Kinda like every charecter is speaking at 90 percent speed. Happens on the VHS, DVD and BluRay.

I am actually concerned with Alien: Covenant. Noomi Rapace having a limited part and Danny McBride being in it and as much as I love Prometheus after a few viewings now its going to have to be bloody good to get some of that Prometheus stink off it.

  8. Wasn't Neil Blomkamp meant to be rebooting it from Aliens as if the shitty sequels never happened but Scott pulled the plug to make more shitty Prometheus films?

Anyway, Blair Witch was fucking intense! I didn't realise it was more of a Evil Dead 2 sequel/remake but yeah I've never been so immersed in a horror ever. They have some great scares and some scenes have you gasping for air. Just a great horror experience.

Blomkamp was asked by Ridley Scott to stop working on Alien 5 and promoting it until he's finished Alien: Covenent. Supposedly he also asked for some of the script so it wouldn't conflict with the Prometheus timeline.

At the moment its indefinatly suspended, more than likely to gauge what the numbers are like for Covenent. But if they just went ahead with it regardless I'm sure it would pull the numbers in. The concept art looks great, Newt and Hicks are supposedly back and even Bill Paxton has expressed and interest in playing Hudson again supposedly.

To retcon Alien 3 and Resurrection would be personally a dream come true but I don't think it'll get done. No matter how much Sigourney Weaver says she wants to do it.

  9.

Still on the South West Coast and been in my shorts since Saturday. It's been lovely here in Brixham all week.

I'm in Woolacombe and freezing my tits off! Are you Northerners full of anti-freeze or something?

It was even warmer in back in Liverpool than here today.

I just put it down to the fact I don't feel the cold like you mere mortals or that I'm a fat get with an extraordinary amount of body hair. More shorts tomorrow. Taking the 3 year old into the sea for the first time and it's 21 degrees.

  10. Do we actually count Bootle as a nearby "town". I've always considered it part of the city and I wouldn't go and tell Jamie Carragher that he wasn't actually a Scouser because he's not from Liverpool, rather a "nearby town".

I was working in Widnes the other week and was offered a lift back to Liverpool but I'd have to get off in Bootle and cab it from there. So instead I just jumped the train to Lime St and walked the rest of the way.

If you are looking for hotels, that aren't gonna an arm and a leg, there's the Olympia Hotel facing the arena itself but it doesn't look much from the outside. The Manor Hotel on Edge Lane is about 20 minutes walk from the Olympia, Devonshire House a little further down Edge Lane or the Beech Mount, which is meant to be quite nice. Again, probably a 20 minute walk or a few quid in a cab.

Technically Bootle isn't part of the city its part of Sefton. Even the court there is Sefton Magistrates. But that's just me being picky. The amount of distance between the city centre and Bootle Town Centre is negligible. It takes about 7-8 minutes on the bus in the morning.

  11.

I've only ever sat in the first balcony (I'll be second row for the upcoming ROH show) but I actually quite liked the Olympia as a venue inside. Scruffy as hell on the outside, and the walk up to the place from the city centre makes you question what you're doing with your life, but it had a certain charm.

That gave me a proper laugh that.

It could be worse though, you could come up from Shiel Rd end and really question yourself. They've reopened the mosque just up the road from the Olympia now, which at least gives the top end a bit of life. And the music shop at least looks nice but I don't think I've ever seen anybody in there.

It could be worse: when I went to Liverpool for the ROH shows in 2007 it was my first time in the city. I booked what sounded like a lovely hotel, the Regent Maritime, in a nearby town called Bootle.

Sadly, what I didnt realise was Bootle is like a war zone (something the taxi driver took great delight in telling me as he took me there: 'Even us Scousers don't want anything to do with Bootle, mate!' - and that the Regent Maritime was a shithole/knocking shop where sailors would go for a shag when they were on shore leave.

Indeed, my room (cell) looked out onto an industrial site, the bed sheet had a massive stain on it and the TV remote only had one battery (and the portable TV was on top of a cupboard). I was woken the next morning by the creaking bed of a couple shagging next door, the headboard repeatedly banging against the wall and a woman with a strong Liverpudlian accent saying 'Urry up, darl, I'm sweatin' like a pig 'ere!' (delightful).

    True story.

Sounds a perfect description of Bootle. To be fair its more of a warzone now than ever with the constant shootings that even the residents of parts want moving because they don't feel safe in their own homes.

  12. I'm pretty much the same as you Benny show wise except I went to the two TNA shows in 2008 as well and the 1PW fiasco on 2010. Sat front row of the 1st balcony for every show apart from 1PW which was so empty we moved to the 2nd row.

Always a good view in the Olympia and yeah its not in good nick bit there's always a good atmosphere for a full show and the place has a old school charm about it. Still can't believe TNA used it in their TNA Impact video game. But there isn't an arena I'd rather watch wrestling in. I fell back in love with wrestling thanks to that 2006 ROH show. Certainly better than falling in love with a toothless hag in the Grafton next door.

  13. Actually supposed to be getting decent 17's, 18's and 19's weather wise next week. That's more than bearable for me. Especially walking a hyperactive 3 year old round the model village.

Going Saturday so hoping to go down in a good mood after the reds put one over your lot on Friday night Gus :)

  14. First 3 matches for the Reach for the Skies tour:

Liverpool - The Briscoes and Kyle O'Reilly vs Adam Cole and The Bucks.

Leicester - Jay Lethal vs Alex Shelley

And London - Marty Scrull vs Will Ospreay.

Can't wait for the Liverpool match.

  15. I'm still half convinced to this day that Ted Dibiase Vs. The Texas Tornado was once announced for Wrestlemania VII.

Makes no sense I know, but it's been stuck in my head for as long as I can remember.

Did they ever get any sort of blowoff from DiBiase costing him the title. I know there was a match between them at UK Rampage but the issue from that match seemed between DiBiase and Piper due to the Virgil storyline. No mention I can remember on commentary about it either. And I remember a lot of Piper's commentary due its randomness and being ever so slightly racist.
