  1.

Hope they just use the one belt going forward

Me too. As much as I love the world title belt (although it's not quite as nice as its predecessor the original Big Gold, which was the nicest belt ever), it's definitely had its day.

Edit - Wyatt, I keep thinking you're SpursRiot with that avatar of yours!

  2. Just finished watching the Heyman documentary and it was every bit as good as I hoped it would be. Ian summed it up better than I can and like he says, it's the best documentary they've done in years (even better than the brilliant Ultimate Warrior one from earlier in the year).

Fitting that it comes 10 years after the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD which i'd argue is still WWE's best ever documentary.

  3. AHH. I read the first sentence of your post and I'm refusing to read any more! I am the biggest Paul Heyman mark going and I can't wait to watch his DVD. Glad to see you liked it but I'm trying to avoid any 'spoilers' if you can call them then.

Actually, I know I shouldn't do but if someone could point me in the direction of a not-so-legal place to watch it until mine arrives then I'll be very happy. Don't ask "well what's the point in buying the DVD then" because I'll have had my money's worth out of it after the fifteenth time of watching it!

  4. The opening Kane/Reigns match was a fun TV hardcore match. Though I've always found the kendo stick being under the ring annoying. Logically there could be a reason why a table, chair, ladder or trash can is under the ring but why would a kendo stick be there?

You see, I've never understood why people say this. There are loads of different kayfabe ways to explain why there are various foreign objects under the ring, such as the company always keeps a choice of weapons under the ring in case they need to announce a hardcore match/match that needs different foreign objects, or perhaps a wrestler put it there/paid an official to put it there before the show started etc. You could even argue in kayfabe terms that it's simply a hangover from the attitude era when weapon use was widespread and the company hasn't changed the rules on what's allowed to be stored under the ring.

Out of anything in the world of wrestling logic, I find this is as easy to explain as any.

  5. It's a great idea for FSM to offer a free download of this month's issue. I hope there'll be a few former readers of PS and the WWE mag who'll give the trial issue a go. I myself haven't read either of the other two magazines for quite some time now but it's a shame to think they're stopping. I don't think wrestling fans like change.

Would you consider someone who uses flouride free toothpaste, not through any allergy or sensitivity but because of things they have read online on various sites, to be a tin foiler out of interest?

Not at all. I would want to check the evidence myself before jumping to that conclusion. However, insinuating that all dentists have impure intentions rings my alarm bells immediately.

Fair enough. I do believe it is more to do with indoctrination through how they are taught, but I still don't think that is any kind of justification when it is fairly common knowledge how toxic mercury is..

The fluoride thing always reminds me of those early Alex Shane articles in FSM where he'd talk about Nazi's putting fluoride in the water supplies and Triple H only climbing to the top of the ladder because of the logo on his trunks and its hidden subliminal messages.

I've yet to come across a seasoned conspiracy theorist who isn't a compete nut job.

  7. The thing with Billy Joel is, i always knew i was a fan, i just didnt realise it.  I borrowed a greatest hits album from a colleague 10 years ago because i wanted a copy of "River of Dreams", and upon listening to it realised at least a dozen other tracks on there i loved were actually Billy Joel songs, speaks volumes about how versatile a performer he's been over the years.

I just find i can immediately identify with almost every single song as if i wrote them about my own experiences, in that way his music resonates with me unlike any other artist.  Sure, there's lots of artists i enjoy listening to because their music sounds good, but no one touches me time and time again like Billy, i even enjoy his song about fishing for fuck sake.

    I agree with this entirely.

I only caught the last five minutes or so of that BBC 4 documentary, hopefully it's still on the iPlayer. There's been some great music documentaries on BBC4, there's one above The Eagles that's always repeated which is worth watching too.

I dont know how to make links read anything other than the URL on the new boar, but i've yet to find a Billy Joel song that's anything less than spectacular, and this bad boy is no different.

    Pressure..

Can't tell you how much it sticks in my throat that Richie Freebird has seen him live and I havent.  Green as fuck i tell ya.

I really like that song, it's my favourite Billy Joel song, it should be considered one of his classics but I don't think it is.

You're a good man, Matrix. I'd somehow never heard 'Vienna' by him until very recently and it's gone straight up there with some of my favourite songs ever. I really need to discover more Billy Joel songs (I'd struggle to name ten of his tracks).

  9. Out of anyone from the past decade or so in WWE, I'd say MVP was as big a waste of opportunity as anybody not called Chris Masters. On that basis, I'd like to see him given another run.

By all accounts Lashley has come on leaps and bounds recently so him returning could be something to look forward to.

I'd like to see a Bully Ray return but as Ian said, that looks very unlikely. The same goes for Angle. Personally, I can take or leave Jeff Hardy but there'd be no harm in him returning so long as he's cleaned himself up.

AJ Styles and Samoa Joe are the interesting ones. If they're ever going to make a name for themselves in WWE then it's now or never. As much as I like Roode, Storm and Aries, I don't think any of them have what it would take to make a real difference in WWE. There was a time when I thought that Roode was the next big thing but it's not a view I hold any longer.

  10. Apparently Spike wants to keep wrestling on the network. They just dont want TNA. They've apparently spoke to two groups.

Might not even be active promotions. It might be a case that someone has said "if there's a timeslot available, we can get something together". The hardest problem in starting up is getting a timeslot on a network. If there is one up for grabs, there's surely someone out there.

Do you have any more info on why exactly Spike want rid of TNA? The Russo story is an obvious excuse for them to throw them off the air but there must be more to it. Were they expecting the ratings to grow more than they have? Even if they got ROH or GWF then it would take a while for them to build up a million viewers a week for the show or whatever the precise number is. Do they just think there's too much stigma attached to the TNA brand now?
