  1. They could maybe bring in Starrcade as a massive event on the level of Wrestlemania I suppose. I think it would take away from Mania if they put it in a stadium or something though.

Why, though? It's an event that's 15 years past its sell by date. What's the point in looking back? Wrestling fans are a nostalgic bunch, granted, it's in our DNA. But you can't be relying on your Hogans and your Stings and Starrcades forever. We might like a trip down memory lane but the rest of the world want something new, fresh and exciting. Can you remember when you first got into wrestling? I bet it wasn't reruns of early AWA matches that had you hooked.

  2. So essentially build up the Survivor Series then?

What, you mean with epic storylines~? No, I mean another Wrestlemania. An event that goes beyond anything else. It doesn't have to be a replica of Wrestlemania, just something on that level of supreme grandeur and spectacle. They have the facilities and resources to pull it off IMO.

  3. If a wrestler was to get upset over a 'You fat bastard' chant then they should have no place being in the ring. You get guys like Triple H who put on matches after suffering severe burns when their pyro malfunctions and others who continue to perform when all their friends and family around them are watching them pop painkillers just to get out of bed, and you expect other wrestlers to be offended by a schoolboy chant and make a success of it. Not a chance.

  4. Now WWE have the network (or certainly when they kick it into fifth gear internationally) I wonder if they can remedy the shite pit that is the 9 months outside the Rumble to Mania period by having two Wrestlemanias a year. One every six months. Obviously they'd call it something different but if they had two mega events a year at polar ends of the calendar year they could give themselves something to really build on.

  5. Indeed, I think such chants could be counted as a public order issue.

I think it is the responsibility of someone in authority to stop the match and announce on the mike that such behaviour will not be tolerated.

 This has to be turned into an angle. A match going to a no contest because a chant's got the feds escorting fans out the venue.

  6. I had my first wrestling-related (sort of) dream last night. It involved me travelling to a Man Utd game (who I don't support) with fellow UKFF member air_raid (who I know nothing of). It was a random dream with no set storyline but was notable for me questioning why he ordered so many VK's from the bar.

  7. Funnily enough I just came on here to ask what you thought of it Loki - glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, she's stunning. Beyond beautiful. She is/was at the time of filming only 23 years old. Crazy.

*MINOR SPOILER* - The yacht sinking scene is probably my favourite scene from any movie in years. When they hit the freak wave and they're rescued while 'Gloria' is playing - great stuff. I'm a big Scorsese fan and usually have a watch of the behind-the-scenes videos and whatnot and like most of his biopics, it's incredible just how true-to-life they are.

  8. I'd rather be running All Star than any of the other promotions, but not if my primary goal was to have fans chanting the promotion's initials.

This sums up the philosophy of too many indie feds. It's ironic how many people want to break into the business but don't see it as such. If you're not doing it for the financial gain then you're breaking into your hobby.

  9. Interesting post that Ian. Vince is one of those people you think's been 60 years old for the past 3 decades and will be for the next 3. I think Raw and the other shows have so few promos and so many matches now because it's easier for them to sell the show to international markets. It'll be interesting to see what happens now they have the network. It'll be ironic if every wrestling fan's dream turns out to be WWE's biggest nightmare. It's like being able to drink unlimited amounts of Coke for a fiver a month. You'd drink gallons for the first few months but by the end of the year I'm guessing the novelty would have worn right off.

  10. I re-watched The Wolf of Wall Street yesterday. It really is a great film regardless of all the 'u should see the blonde girl in it, well fit/they take loadsa drugs! Wehey!' hype it got when it first got released.

I know there are a lot of work-rate perverts on here who'll think it's typical Yank over-the-top stuff but I'd put it in my top 20 favourite films.

  11. Wow. 800,000+ likes as well.

As a half-drunk joke, my mate wrote a status saying that he's donated money to UKIP because they'd bring in a policy that would legalise rape. Not that funny in of itself but when you read the comments it's baffling how many people believe whatever they read just because it's on Facebook.

  12. I used to fall for this hook, line and sinker when I was younger. I really thought J.R would sit down with The Rock and whoever else backstage before the show and get their thoughts on their opponent that night.

He'd kayfabe them for TV, but JR did have conversations with the wrestlers before the matches. One of the things he recommends wrestlers starting out in WWE do is to strike up conversations with the commentators to make sure they know your moves and certain things you're going to do in the match that you want them to highlight. The "he told me about this move today, he calls it the ______" type comments are often real.

I guess that makes sense. Cheers for clearing it up!

  13. He also used the "I tried to talk to this kid backstage but he was so focussed" line which wrestling uses a lot, i.e just making up fake conversations the announcers have had with the superstars.

  14. That's something I've often thought about, Loki. It would pretty much book itself if you had a talent pool with the right chemistry. There's always be space for extra 'exhibition' matches and at the very least it would give everything they were doing a reason. You could have one tourney every month with the semi's, final and other grudge matches at the PPV. You could probably go the whole way and give every tourney a different theme (general, women's, tag, cruiser, weapons, international, legends etc etc.)

  15. I've recently started reading about the Egyptian pyramids and some of the facts (or more precisely, unanswered questions) are baffling. I've never cared much for the Loch Ness or Big Foot-type theories and some of the helmets who talk about the moon landing being faked and 9/11 being an inside job are enough to stop me looking further into things like that. Can anybody recommend some good books or online sources on the pyramids for a novice in the field?

  16. Jericho still talks about him winning the world titles like it's a good thing. I can't think of a single small wrestler who has ever had a legitametly successful run as world champ in any major promotion. Jericho, Mysterio, Guerrero, Benoit... They all flopped at the box office.
