  1. Its a PG show......for Kids.

The women and overall content were like that in the 90's because it was the 90's. Everything was violent/loading with sex/for adults, but its a different time now. The networks involved have a bit of say on what appears on screen, (I believe that was the reason for Daniel Bryan getting released during the nexus stuff for example).

That and ratings have slowly been going down for years, and we've only really had decent women wrestlers on mainstream tv for like 2-3 years tops. So is the decline all about women wearing more clothes? Not at all. Would WWE get more out of portraying women in a positive light to get younger female fans on board, potentially for the entire lives? Yes indeed. And even then, they still have the odd one or two "hot" women on TV, to fill that demographic. It's not like they are all wrestling in Bhurka's is it?

I just have no idea what you're basing this "ALL WRESTLING FANS ARE VIRGINS WHO HATE SEX" stuff, other than personal opinion. I'll be the first to admit, it's a hard sell to a person you want to date, ("I like watching the men in pant do a fight"), but it's like saying Coronation Street viewers are all base jumpers, who only sleep with people in mid-air. It's an opinion based on absolute fuck all.

  2. [scotswizard garbage]

Is this your new gimmick now? Saying wrestling fans don't like women? (At least that's how it comes across).

For me, I don't mind a women wrestler that's easy on the eyes, but if their entire reason for being employed is because they "look ok" and can't wrestle at all, I'm not really interested.  I'm a fan of wrestling, so I want to see women wrestle and put on a good match, like some of the blokes do as well. If I wanted to stare at "sexy" women, I'd look at porn.

  3. Dipped my toe in the betting waters today, by placing a bet on Sutton to beat Arsenal tonight. Only something small (Plus I get a free bet in return) but the odds are pretty good so hoping Sutton can pull it out of the bag for me. Not going to happen like, but it would be nice.

On a side note, anybody bet on the horses? Its the only thing I've ever bet on previously, and I tend to go off a combination of the odds and the stats of the horse (win records/weight/etc). Have come up quite well in the past on those, so might keep an eye on that again.

  4. My major memory of him was from the Legends Vs Jeff Jarrett match in WCW, George Steele turned up, did his schtick, leading into Jimmy Snuka splashing Jarrett as well. From there I went back and saw his stuff with Macho, from all those years ago.

What was the deal with WM3, was Steele supposed to be in that match with Savage?

  5. Anyone ordered DVDS from wrestling superstore.com?

    Are they reputable?

Yep, they are a sister site for "Figures Toy Company" who produce action figures/tshirts and other merchandise (including at one point having rights to make replica belts for WWE/TNA, and currently hold such licensees for UFC/ROH). I ordered a replica belt off them many moons ago, and it was sorted fairly quickly. Plus if you catch them on twitter, they are normally fast to reply/get in touch.

I would only say, as you're probably aware, they are a US based company so double check your regions on DVD's/Blu-rays.

  6. Since this has popped up:

Are Accumulator bets worth doing? I very rarely gamble, and only tend to do so if I'm physically at the horses. I hear stories from friends all the time "I won X ammount on Acca's " and wondered if its worth doing. I've seen a few pop up here and there that are low bet/high reward (obviously if it comes in), although I imagine you have to be the luckiest person in the world to get some of this stuff right.

    Any advice on those?

  7. One of Trumps advisers, Kellyanne Conway, (the one who made up the bowling green massacre via her "alternate facts"), has been banned from a US TV show for basically talking shite every time she's on.

Also just seen some of that news night stuff, how are some of these people in the places they are? In this case, how have these certain people risen to the point where they represent the President of The United States? Its baffling. They must know that by appearing on national television and stating that 99% of all media is lying, they look like fruit loops? Half they time they are being asked fairly straight forward questions, and then kick off about it. Either that or out right say something is wrong, when it isn't, despite what facts there may be.

  8. Just read a transcript of that press conference, I'm not sure he answered anything with actual answers. A whole lot of "The media is lying..except this one place I like", and how much he respects certain people and what there supposed qualifications are, ["He went to college", "They are well respected" etc]. Even slags off the BBC at one point.

  9. It depends on your view.

Slapnut, for example, you choose not to watch, which really is the wrong kind of heat, as you're choosing to not watch the product at all than see Stephanie. Whereas 'Chaser is saying he wants her to get a beating from another wrestler, which is basically her getting a reaction of some kind.

I think if you want them to get a beating/get hurt in anyway, you've been worked.

  10.

Apparently ITV want a wrestling show on one of their stations, but dont actually want to pay the money out like they did for that World of Sport taping. Hopefully for TNA's sake they can get a nice little deal for them to air on ITV4 or something. I reckon that'd be perfect for TNA.

There's definitely something afoot. The meeting with Jarrett/Anthem people and ITV is today.

JR just posted this on his blog.

Had a meeting in Leicester with ITV so the matter of World of Sport returning to ITV isn't a dead issue by any stretch. Meetings are being held this week in Manchester to discuss the future. If pro wrestling returns to ITV, that would make WOS the most watched wrestling broadcast in the UK from day one thanks to the terrestrial power of ITV. ITV can be a star maker much like the early days of wrestling on TBS and eventually the USA Network.

Despite my negativity of TNA....I would much prefer to watch them over that WOS show that popped up over new year. Thats strictly as a fan, and not anything against stopping people working etc. For me personally, that WOS thing was dire.

  11. Who cares if they think it's best thing on earth? To them it very well might be

Butch has highlighted it, but yeah its not just that they "enjoy" it, but like almost everybody on that board are in complete denial about some of the garbage that has happened there. It's almost like a cult (the bad kind) where TNA is lord and saviour, and all other wrestling (epecially WWE) is wrong

  12. The segment on Smackdown 2003 where Kanyon dressed as Boy George and gets severely beaten for being gay has the singing dubbed over with a really out of sync "who better than Kanyon?" promo like some low budget anime.

IIRC, Kanyon had been off TV for a long time, but was brought in to sing a song to Undertaker, as an apology "present" for Big show.

The song was "do you really want to hurt me" but he said "big shows really really sorry", and got battered because it was stupid. Kanyon wasn't out of the closet at the time I believe.

  13.

I may have died and gone to heaven. Freshly cleaned bog in Cologne Station with no chod-shelf. I could have cried with happiness.

A week in and I must say I'm loving the chod shelf. The UK should convert.

What the hell is a Chod Shelf?

  14. Myself being uninformed in these matters, I'm surprised to find out Disney didn't 100% own Paris ! Good news though, if it leads to improvements etc.

I've been Disneyland Paris a bunch of times, (as a younger lad up to my early teens) and enjoyed it a lot. The last time I went the "studios" part had just opened and I got to ride the Aerosmith Rock'n Roller coster 11 times straight due to having n

  15. The apparent plan is indeed Goldberg Vs Lesnar for the title, for the above reasons, although would it be worth making it a fatal 4 way including Owens and Jericho? That way it could potentially last a bit longer / cover up some of goldbergs short coming in the ring?

  16.

Austin Aries has been cleared, I'm guessing that's Nevilles next feud for Mania.

Heel/heel cruiserweight match at Mania? I don't see it. I think we'll get a multi-man or Jack Gallagher VS Neville, with Gallagher winning the title from Neville at some point. Aries will then take the title from him- quick transitional reign for Gallagher. That's my guess anyway.

Apparently, according to Meltzer, Neville/Aries is up there for Mania if Austin Aries is ready to go. Even though he's more of a heel commentator, it'd be easy enough to switch him into a face role.
