  1. Wichita Lineman and Massini's Maguire cut each others throats in that last race. Somebody knew that Chief Dan George was good for that last race as well. 33s into 20s in the last 5 minutes or so. Good on them. I am with Taranis in the next. I am not sure that Well Chief gets the trip, but as always I look forward to being proved wrong.

  2. I fucking love this Aintree Meeting. I've had a look at Cockney Rebel, and might have a little dabble. Do you know if it'll have a prep run before the Derby?

Don't know. Was given the tip by a Newmarket trainer and the tips they have given have been reasonable in the past. I am just passing on what I have heard and at 50-1 as it is at the moment a couple of quid can't hurt.
  3. Well it is the Aintree festival coming up over the next three days. Will the Cheltenham winners bounce or follow up that will be the question. Black jack Ketchum should go well tomorrow on the better ground. So should Exotic Dancer. Katchit has looked super all year and Drombeag should go well in the foxhunter. I think Jack's Craic could shake off his bad year and repeat last years success in the Red Rum chase and hopefully My Petra will like the ground in the last.I have also been given a little Derby tip. I have been advised that Cockney Rebel will run very well in the Derby. It comes from the same source that has given me Sir Percy and Motivator in the last two years at big prices. It is currently 50-1 and the person who gave me it advises a few pounds each way, so I thought I would share and you can do what you like.

  4. The big fights that don't happen in those states happen elswhere because usually one of the fighters isn't fit enough to fight, as is the case with Holyfield. He looked tip-top over the weekend but if he dies in the ring or is injured because he sidesteps what are not that strict controls in Nevada or New York it is another stick that the anti boxing lobby can beat the sport with.

  5. Isn't Holyfield struggling to get a boxing license in either New York or Nevada because of his heart problems. i can't see him fighting for a world title anywhere outside MSG or Vegas for a world title can you.

  6. If you take Kauto's race plan from this year, he will probably go for the same races next year, save the Tingle Creek. Namely, Betfair Bowl-King George-Aon Chase-Gold Cup. Whereas Denman can go Warm up race-Hennesy-Lexus-Irish Hennesy-Gold CUp.Thats some serious prize money for two different owners, a mouth watering final match in the Gold Cup, and the mother of all headaches for Ruby over which one he rides.

If you look at it the the last three Gold Cup winners did not even make the race the next year. As for a headache for Ruby you could be right. The only thing I would say on that is that asked before this years festival what was his banker of the meeting he said Denman.
  7. Well after a good Cheltenham I am off to market Rasen today. Nothing serious running but Kercaballec (spelling?) likes it round Rasen but will probably only be about 2's. Katchit was my only winner of the last day of Cheltenham with a lot of my other runners being dissapointing, Honourable Spider, Osana, and Pablo Du Charmil inparticular. Roll on 2008 and particullarly the Gold Cup. I have Denman at 25's and I would not swap that for any other horse that is likely to line up.

You reckon Denman and Kauto Star will run in the same race? Kauto to stud perhaps (George Washington-esque problems not withstanding of course)?
There are plenty of ways of keeping apart until the Gold Cup next year and that is what Nicholls will do. He has already said that Kauto will probably go for the King George on Boxing day and Denman will probably go to Leopardstown for the Lexus the same week. Also Denman can run in some intermediate chases probably around October/November time. Denman and Kauto won't meet until the Gold Cup and while both may be trained by Nicholls they are owned by different people. Kauto can't go to stud anway because he has a slightly bigger, or should I say smaller problem than George Washington. He is a gelding.
  8. Market Rasen was bitterly cold with frequent snow showers but Gidam Gidam obliged at 11-8 and Kercabellec at 5-1 so a profitable but cold day was had.I also saw today that Simon will go for the Grand National. Just had a punt on him each way at 25s. Should definately place.

  10. Only saw the last 2 yesterday because of work. Did Taranis at 5-1 in the morning, also did Monet's Garden so that went down. Did Character Building, Adamant Approach, Chief Yeoman, and Limited Edition each way so that was 2 placed and 2 fallers. Did Mighty Man in the World Hurdle to win, that obviously came second. Poor McCoy might not have a winner at all. May just have a little look at them as well, but nothing major. I am well up for Cheltenham so I hope to preserve as much of that as possible today.Good luck ro everyone else today.

  11. Day Two and Denmania is running wild.As most of you are aware I was on Denman ante post at 8-1 and also at 6s and 4s so it was a good day for me. My ante post on him for next years gold cup at 25-1 is also looking pretty good a he was the class horse of that field and will definately improve when he moves out of novice company next year. The majority of my list were non runners and I did not have time to update it that much but I did pick out Burntoakboy in the Coral Cup. He was 16s when I reccomended it and he won today at 10s. I did Well Chief in the Champion some time back but today I did Voy Pur Ustedes as the better ground made him come more into play and I am pleased I did.If the ground gets a lot drier for tomorrow then Black Jack comes right into play as will Mighty Man. I also fancy really strongly Chief Yeoman in the Jewson.Good luck all tomorrow, another day like today and I am going somewhere really nice for a holiday this year.

  12. I understand your price issues with Denman and your small field issues, but all the really good novice chasers seem to have run in small fields all year, so it will be a shock for all of them. Denman though can make the pace or come from off it. My Way De Solzen would have been the worry for me, but Alan King has taken him out of the Royal and Sun. That is a shame really because I am not sure My Way has enough speed for the Arkle and the Ryanair looks like it will be one of the races of the festival.

  13. My banker I would say will be Denman in the Royal and Sun. I am already on him ante post for the Gold Cup for next year. My list that is a couple of pages back will get updated a bit over the next day or so. Pablo Du Charmil is out of the Arkle, Overstrand as predicted is out of the Champion Hurdle and Kazal is out of the Brit. Kazal won today at Naas at 5/6. I had quite a few quid on him. I may not go two for each race. Some of my profiles have alternate selections and some don't.
