There was a lady with long red (dyed) hair in the crowd who featured prominently in the background a few times. Should I have recognised her?

A lot of indy wrestlers with connections get comped or have an in for the NXT shows with so many shows in the area. Pretty much that. Wrestling is still the wrestling business ;-)
Any idea who she was as I may be in love?

If it's who I'm thinking of, she's a northern irish wrestler called Lauren laroux.

  2. I've never actually seen any of the Posse's finishers — Rodney's was a blockbuster, and I think Abs' was some sort of a powerbomb, but I've never been able to imagine The Gas Mask, an inverted full nelson slam. I do remember seeing Rodney have a reasonable match with someone, and thinking "that wasn't as bad as expected," and I suppose he was then sent to Memphis, as I never saw him again.

If I'm remember correctly, the gas mask was a double handed choke bomb, but he would hook under the armpit and grabbing the face like a reverse full Nelson.

  3. The Sami Zayn return vignette was excellent, it's made me want to go back and watch the title match again. Zayn/Joe would be brilliant. I'm presuming it's happened numerous times on the indies, but would love to see it in the setting of NXT

I don't think it actually has, I mean Joe signed with tna in 05 when zayn was only starting to come through the states, it's probably happened, but not as a big time one on one.

Aye, that was the game series i was talking about when i mentioned Wrestlin Mpire. An absurd series of games; fun for what they are but not the second coming of a WWE 2K-beater that it's die hard fans claim it to be. That actually stems quite nicely to my thoughts on the latest ICW developments (spoilered for spoilers)...

They are now running a storyline where Red Lightening has become the majority stakeholder of ICW due to some convoluted storyline involving Mark Dallas taking out a loan to run the Hydro next year blah blah etc. ICW is meant to be the 'alternative' to WWE yet here they are with silly dueling authority figures. Fuck sake, i can't imagine how tiresome that set-up was to stand through.

ICW have always done the heel stable thing though, at least this gives red lightning a reason to be on shows other than "he's a good heel"

wouldn't being good at what he does be enough to use him on a show or in a storyline?

Yes, he should be used because he's a good heel who cuts good promos, but you have to keep some elements of kayfabe. And "dallas didn't sack him because people chant you're a wanker at him" would be stretching it a bit.

  6. I've been watching some old episodes of NXT lately. The match where Charlotte beats Natalya for the vacant Woman's title has one of the worst spots I've ever seen. Charlotte puts on a figure four, and Natalya just doesn't sell it. Not even like Sting style no-selling either. She just does nothing then CHARLOTTE starts selling the hold, while the commentators talk about how Natalya's "reversed the pressure", even though she quite clearly hasn't.

It's probably the longest match I've seen Natalya in, and I was expecting a lot better, given her reputation. Was it just an off night or is she just really really over-rated?

That match was atrocious and I blame natalya. She was trying to be all "look at me leading the match" but what she was actually doing was horribly overtelegraphing spots, there's a bit where she puts on a sharpshooter and just puts her face on charlottes foot for the reversal, think there was an apron spot where she just left her leg dangling in front of charlotte as well.

God nattie is shit isn't she

  7. Could the ambrose thing be a red herring? As soon as the authority promo started I thought "yeah we're getting the authority screwing seth" and when roman won I thought "survivor series 98"

    Could be wrong though.

  8. Didn't Austin once say he could have a 2 year run if he wanted, but at the time nothing interested him, and he moved quite well when he got in the ring on tough enough that time. I just think this isn't another false alarm, the Heyman thing maybe, but I feel like we'll know one way or another after the podcast.
