I suppose the main thing is that unlike a certain billion dollar wrestling company that will go unmentioned, during the pandemic Tony didn't fire a single wrestler or staff member as "cost cutting measures" when he easily could have done, actually hiredĀ moreĀ people and gave a lot of pay days and exposure to indie wrestlers who had all their work completely dry up over night.

I'm not saying it wasn't a good gesture, but TK was far from being the only one to do so.

I know that Impact didn't and I'm not aware of NWA or ROH (previous ownership) releasing anyone either. In fact, it probably did a lot to fuck up ROH and hasten its eventual demise in the end.

It's quite hilarious that Tony Khan is calling foul play on people paying Bots to bad mouth AEW, all the while Brawn Strowman is claiming Tony Khan is bad mouthing CYN to hinder their growth. Both are farcical in the grand scheme, both are from the minds of paranoid individuals.

It'd be more surprising if that lot weren't banding around conspiracy theories.

  3. To be honest, even in the late 90s and early 2000's I hated the way a variety of suplexes became the norm in every match, as I generally wince at moves where there's a lot of impact on the neck.

I suppose the Steiners were a part of it but the likes of Benoit and Taz seemed to carry it over to the WWF and its remained the case ever since.

Imo, they're a bit like tope's and wrestlers standing around waiting to catch someone diving from the top rope. These moves often aren't as impressive looking to your average punter as they may be for a wrestler. I reckon there are often substitute moves that would be much safer to do without ditracting much, if anything, from the match.

  4. No company has received more online distain over the years than TNA, which has bled into Impact to some degree.

Yet I can't even imagine Scott D'amore having an online rant about the lingering LOLTNA narrative, despite it being from a regime nothing to do with his one.

Yes there are a few weird overtly anti AEW accounts, but Khan and his company generally gets an easy ride from the wrestling media and the online presence on the whole.

I've seen just as many Twitter accounts encouraging pile ons on non-positive AEW takes.

  5. I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but interesting that the Briscoe Brothers will seemingly be a fixture going forward.

Personally I think the Good Brothers aren't worth the money they're on so I'd happily take this swap.

  6. There's a part of me that still wonders, once the dust settles, if he'll find it hard to adjust to simply being a bog standard talent after being used to being an EVP elsewhere.Ā

Its ok at the moment I'm sure, the excitement and hoopla of Wrestlemania etc, but give it a few months and reality bites...

I mean, the AEW hyperbole is nauseating at the best of times, but too many wrestlers have spoken of their relief at leaving the WWE shark tank to make it pretty clear that the working environment isn't ideal.

This is one of my main gripes with modern day WWE, just far too much content.

Back to basics with a 2 hour Raw, less belts would go along way to help everything mean more but it's just not how they're set up to operate now unfortunately.

Its seriously off putting knowing thereā€™s an expectation that youā€™re going to have to invest 5 hours a week at the very least.Ā

I canā€™t imagine that would have been much fun Ā even at the height of the attitude era, let alone these more sterile times.

I know we live in a time of boxsets and binge watching, but at least most Netflix or HBO productions are carefully written and mastered productions which have been designed to keep the suspense/intrigue going throughout.

For any 3 hour wrestling show thereā€™s no way to avoid several ā€œchuck midcarder C and F together for a 15 minute match to fill a segment.ā€

While ratings are down, Iā€™m still astounded they remain as high as they do.

That said, I donā€™t believe for a second that ROH will be its own indepenent brand and that Tony Khanā€™s excitement and lack of discipline will mean it will be just another AEW show/production and added to the weekly chore.

. Who's betting his first promo tomorrow night on Raw they'll try and get him to shit on AEW and talk about how he thought the grass would be greener elsewhere, but "there's no place like home" in WWE.Ā

They love the ā€˜coming home to WWEā€™ line, to the point of obsession.

My whole house had it for the best part of a week. I was still testing negative. I work up last night feeling like i did after my vaccine...Sure enough two lines. Was due to be best man at my bro laws wedding to.

I know i can do what ever i want but to go to a wedding full of grandparents would be disgusting. Im utterly gutted. I dont even know where to start. Had a little cry.

No, its shite mate and I don't blame you. I missed a close friend's wedding yesterday.

I'm finding self isolating to be a million times tougher than being in a general lockdown, when at least you know that everyone else is stuck indoors too.Ā

I really suffer from 'FOMO' at the best of times so it's harder to stomach when all I've seen on TV all weekend is packed football stadiums, wrestling, concerts and events going ahead as normal.

Its a weird feeling knowing that what basically are cold symptoms wouldn't stop you going usually, but yet know in your heart of hearts that you shouldn't.

Conrad Thompson did a Supershow interview segment thing with Jeff Jarrett, Eric Bischoff, William Regal and Jeff Hardy last night in Dallas. Few decent little stories, especially with Regal HD was brilliant.

Anyway, Jeff Hardy was clearly off his fucking head, the rest of the panel are clearly uncomfortable when he's talking, he was asked one question about Triple H and blabbered on about fuck knows what and made no sense, guys a mess and needs help

You'd have thought that Bischoff would have called an audible ....

  11. I avoid Covid for 2 years when thereā€™s fuck all going on, but the week of a mateā€™s wedding I was really looking forward to today?

    Depressingly predictableā€¦.

Mainly cold symptoms for me but I had to take a day off on Monday due to a pounding headache to the extent I couldnā€™t keep my eyes open for more than a few seconds. Bastard.

Like @Fatty FacesitterĀ the coughing has wrecked my throat.
