I generally enjoy Jones work (docs that is I tend to avoid his shows) but the guy should really be taken with a pinch of sault.

I was going to bring up the Norway case myself but Inverted beat me to it its an interesting read and the complete opposite of what happens here these days.

Incidentally, if you're calling for the parents/guardians to be prosecuted: do you believe that Denise Fergus should have been prosecuted for leaving her son alone outside a butchers while she shopped inside?

We couldn't have that.

 

We would have to look at prosecution for Madeleine McCanns parents as well, wouldn't we? That wouldn't wash with the "voices of the people" on our news stands every day.

I have always loved how the dirt rags and the media in general exploded the second the McCann's were implicated in Maddie's dissapearence.

Seriously though even now I still see children around the same age as Venables and Thompson running wild in the streets and as for the age of criminal responsability there is a vast difference between knowing right from wrong and understanding the consequenses.

Looking back at my childhood I am still shocked by some of the things I did at one time I actually threw a family member down the stairs for getting on my nerves.

We laughed about it years later but looking back it could have been a lot more serious.

His current situation however, has absolutely fuck all to do with Fergus or any other member of the public.

Okay I know Denise Fergus lost her son but I am sick and tired of the Woman and for the record I dont even agree with the majority of what Maggie Atkinson said.

The dirt rags are going to love this.

In 1993 perhaps they were but these days I get the impression that the majority of Brits are easily lead morons who read through the dirt rags looking for something to be outraged about.

I watched a doc about the Bulger case on youtube and listening to the boys being interviewed by the police is chilling and even after all these years its still hard for me to believe what happened.

The doc also showed footage of what was essentially a lynch mod that formed around the house of a boy who later turned out to have nothing to do with the murder and that right there is why the general public cannot be trusted.

Poor David Calvert must have really upset someone at some point in time.

quite frankly I've been sickened by the medias manipulation of her, and the whole sorry mess is a new low in gutter tabloid press.

Apparently the dirt rags are on thin ice and have been warned that they are coming very close to breaking the law and throwing away any chance of a prosecution against Venables.

If true then this is looking worse by the day.

BULGER KILLER SCANDAL

 

James Bulger's killer Jon Venables was sent back to jail on suspicion of child porn offences, the Sunday Mirror can reveal.

 

The reason for Venables' recall was kept secret by the Government but we can exclusively reveal that probation chiefs revoked his licence once the allegations had been made.

 

Venables, 27, has been in constant rehabilitation for torturing James to death. But if he has committed offences involving child porn while being supervised by probation officers the revelation will send shockwaves through the criminal justice system and will also raise questions about the virtually unprecedented rights and privileges he has enjoyed since he has been released.

 

James's mother Denise publicly warned that Venables and Robert Thompson, both aged 10 when they murdered two-year-old James on Merseyside in 1993, would go on to commit other offences if released.

 

The boys were never properly questioned about whether there was a sexual motive in the killing as they became hysterical when the subject was brought up, but police were concerned that sexual abuse may have been committed.

 

The pair were found guilty of murder in November 1993 with a recommendation they serve at least eight years, which was later increased on appeal to 17 years.

 

It was reduced to eight by the European Court, which ruled that the two boys had suffered "inhuman and degrading treatment in an adult court". They were released under new identities in 2001. Justice Secretary Jack Straw said yesterday that the claims against Venables were "extremely serious" but refused to say what they were.

 

Venables is understood to have been masking severe psychological problems by abusing drugs and alcohol on a daily basis.

 

Probation officers became particularly concerned when they discovered that he was publicly revealing his identity. But it was only when he was suspected of child porn offences that the decision was taken to jail him again. All prisoners on licence can be recalled to prison if suspected of breaching a "good behaviour" rule.

 

The Sunday Mirror knows which prison Venables is being held in but cannot report it.

 

Mr Straw said yesterday: "I said on Wednesday that I was unable to give further details of the reasons for Jon Venables' return to custody, because it was not in the public interest to do so.

 

"That view was shared by the police and the DPP. We all feared a premature disclosure of information would undermine the integrity of the criminal justice process.

 

"Our motivation throughout has been solely to ensure that some extremely serious allegations are properly investigated and that justice is done. No one in this country would want anything other. That is what the authorities remain determined to do."

 

Venables will appear before a parole board hearing within 28 days. He could also be charged with the alleged offence and face a criminal trial.

Even if the child porn allegations are BS imo he should have been recalled sooner based on the drug abuse alone and if he is found guilty of a serious offence be it child porn or something else then his new idetity should be null and void imo.

We have the papers saying it's in the public interest to know what he's done. I'm not sure what good that would do. It could put other people in danger with people "suspecting" they know who Venables is.

Unless he has commited a genuingly nasty offence then I dont think it is in the public interest at all but the dirt rags love any chance they can get to bring the Bulger case back into the headlines.

Based on what I have read it was also pretty much the same with Mary Bell.
