  1. And Water Cannons won't do anything now especially if as people suspect the worst is over it's just big talk from Dave as far as I can see.

    EDIT

They really should just rename Clegg's position in Government to Bullet Catcher.

  2. Cameron has hidden behind his podium while the rest of his cronies were thrown to the Wolves and Cameron deciding to get tough and green light water cannons now is a fucking joke.

    Too little too late Dave.

  3. Is it safe to assume that the worst is over now?

I don't want to tempt fate so I right now I would just say there is a good chance that the worst is over.

I may get some flak for this but I can't help but feel that parts of England were left more vunerable so Cameron and The Met could have a massive show of force in London.

  4. Maybe, but if this level of rioting was happening in, say, a South American or African country the government here would have issued similar warnings about travel.

I meant the fear that violence could spread to other countries.

  5. Other countries are getting nervious it seems.

18.00 France, Austria and Italy have issued advisories to their citizens warning them to exercise caution when visiting the UK, especially in city centres after dark. MPs in Belgium say they fear the violence could spread to other countries in Europe.

    Probably an over reaction.

  6. Sky News reporting that Wolverhampton, West Bromwich and Birmingham are back off again. The government, fairly or otherwise, are going to look daft if 16,000 policemen are presiding over a ghost town whilst the rest of Britain burns..

Even more daft considering people have been saying that it's possible they will simply hit softer targets while the Police are on guard elsewhere.

  7. 17.15 Earlier today, China questioned whether or not it is safe to hold the 2012 Olympics in London. Now, Robert Mugabe, president of Zimbabwe, is saying "Britain is on fire".

You have to laugh at the cheak.

  8. Does anyone actually believe Cameron's those reposnsible will be brought to justice nonsence? at best some of the most visible and dumbest offenders will be made an example of.

  9. 17.06 A Health Protection Agency building in Colindale has been instructed to shut down by police. Evacuation of a site so far in north London gives some indication that the police are expecting trouble all across the city tonight.

    Hopefully just a precaution.

  10. Probably a bit like North Korea. No riots there.

If what I read a while back is true they instigate riots in South Korea instead.

    EDIT

17.02 Police are calling up all available reserves, including volunteers and retired officers:

The Met is facing a significant challenge in responding to the unprecedented levels of violence we have seen on the streets of London. To free as many police officers up as possible to police the streets we are gratefully using those volunteers and retired officers to support us. If you are a MPS volunteer or a retired officer who wishes to come and assist us at this time please contact 020 7109 6526.

  11. Wouldn't it be smarter not to announce facebook is going down? it would probably throw the more organised element into a state of confusion.

Can't deny that I'm not too sure I like where this is going though.

  12. 16.30 Emma Barnett has been speaking to Twitter about whether or not they are going to do anything about rioters inciting violence using the social media site. They have refused to do anything saying "the tweets must flow" and claiming freedom of expression.

    This won't end well.

  13. 15.50 Nick Clegg was booed by crowds who shouted "go home" during a walkabout in Birmingham this afternoon.

Clegg may as well just resign he is a national joke and no one takes him seriously.

15.47 More than 30 people charged in connection with the riots have already appeared in court, Scotland Yard said . The latest figures show that 32 cases have already been heard in court, with 18 people remanded in custody. It comes as a senior officer revealed that police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) are considering using ''virtual courts'' to deal with high numbers of offenders.

    WTF?

  14. Agree with Vito and the beeb reporting that cells are full is just as stupid, seriously may as have it's open season now give us a good photo/video oppatunity role across the TV screen.

  15. Another worrying thing is the general sense of lawlessness that's out there today. My wife just phoned very upset as she was nearly driven off the road by some chavs in a couple of hatchbacks who are chasing one another through traffic on the road between Guildford and Godalming, driving on the pavements and doing handbrake turns in the middle of the road. We spotted a whole bunch of boy racers out last night as well.

There's clearly a feeling amongst the twat classes that it's game on.

    That really is worrying.

Police are apparently ready to use plastic bullets if it comes to it though I really hope it doesn't go that far.
