Don’t know when this is coming out but it seems there’s a new Bisping documentary in the works.

I know there’s been one or two already. That ‘My Destiny’ one by BT Sport (I think) a while back was incredible. But now his fighting career is over I’m down for the whole story being told in full. There’s so much to Bisping’s story - before, during and after fighting - that I think a proper in depth doc is in order.

Yeah, It's been filming for a good while now. I remember Bisping saying a few months back they've got the likes of GSP and Dana lined up for interviews. Hopefully somebody decent is making this because it's an incredible sports documentary if the people involved have talent.

  2. Very impressive from both fighters. One of those fights that helps solidify my notion that I'm a soft shite; a brown belt only if somehow my arsehole sputtered that much, during a scrap, it went everywhere.

I'm amazed both saw the decision because they looked absolutely knackered in the 3rd.

Fair play to Perry too. He was getting some right pelters this week but I thought he comfortably handled Gall.

Probably in the minority here, but I think that cinematic wrestling is shit and that Boneyard match is an appalling way to end a glittering career on.

    Get out.

I mean, he's probably going to wrestle again when Vince asks, but I quite like how they went about this. To create such a good docu-series about the guy and finish it with him retiring is something different from how they usually do it. A few mates that are lapsed fans have checked out the documentary off the back of the retirement news and have been very positive about the docu-series (despite the t-shirts).

Even Taker has come to the realisation he's not good enough to have the traditional classic send off match he's craved so settled on the AJ match because it's brilliant. He'll never top it doing a traditional match.

  4. Some of names mentioned have, in the past, shown they can be credible. It's just WWE have them do absolutely bugger all of interest for months before they thrust them into a title shot. For someone as work driven and detail obsessive as Vince, he isn't half lazy and scatterbrained when it comes to his telly shows.

Kane and Ziggler are definitively those guys that can kill a champion dead.

  5. The Vince stuff was once again absolutely fascinating. Particularly the bit where they talked about his autograph signing at Starrcast, when Taker mentions he didn't speak with Vince for months and then did a big old eye roll after he said "everything is fine now". I wonder how much that has played into 'Taker deciding to tell Vince he's done? There seems to be more to that.

Undertaker seemed so relaxed and affable in the final episode, be comparison to the first few. Reminded me a wee bit of Austin in recent years after he dropped the gimmick and mellowed out.

  6. A depressing read. However delighted that the women and men involved feel empowered enough to speak out.

Has the Ashley Massaro abuse been revisited during this? It will never not be infuriating that those involved were never truly held accountable. If not, I hope she gets some justice.

  7. The Rousey/Tate season was the last great one they did. It was on fumes prior to this but Rousey being mental didn't half make this must watch telly week-to-week. It was all very forgettable after it.

The most iconic moment from that:

  8. I'd love a proper book on the sleazy behind-the-scenes stories that have went on during the Fertitta era. Stories of Dana only getting fully on board with women's MMA after he and Rousey took multiple private jet rides together etc. They've done well to keep most of it under wraps.

  9. I hope this gives others of some influence inspiration to go after the Tories. Not tweet about it and throw your hands up in the air, but be as stubborn and focused as Rashford has been. He's been very clever the way he's framed it as a social issue and not a political one.

  10. What do they get if the show does under 300k? IIRC, anything outside of Jones, Conor, Nate, GSP usually does well under 300k these days. It's why they were so keen to sign that ESPN+ deal where they get a fee per show. Do champs get a cut of the gate and show sponsor money etc?

I'm just spitballing here, but maybe the co-main with the points gets a reduced cut of their points? Generally if the co main is a championship bout it's a (weeeelll) big show intended to do big numbers.

  11. Truth is, and David's post on this in the other thread pointed this out, it's murky trying to figure all this out because it's hidden for the most part. A lot of "he says this, but he said that". Personally, I'm only going on what the likes of DC, Bisping, Mighty Mouse and Helwani have talked about over the years, which obviously isn't every champion ever.

  12. Apparently the reason Brock decided against the DC fight was he realised he'd not get the money he was after fighting on ESPN+ only. He maybe thought fighting on ESPN+ would naturally have a squeeze on the draw potential. The points only matter if the show does well. Again, pointless Mighty Mouse having points unless he gets a percentage fighting on a co-main big show - and we don't know how co-main PPV points work.

  13. Out of interest David, do you have any articles (The Athletic, holla) pointing to this? As discussed, I've read that champions that don't draw negotiate for big show money as the points mean they'll only get enough for a pot noodle. Going by what fighters have said in the past (DC and Bisping coming to mind), I assumed all champs get the option of points - whether or not they take that or the guaranteed money is part of the negotiation.

Are PPV points even worth what they were pre-ESPN deal? I'm not so sure anymore.

No one knows for sure but the rumours are they do not. Apparently the reason Brock decided against the DC fight was he realised he'd not get the money he was after fighting on ESPN+ only.

  14. Indeed. He probably feels he's a bigger asset after battering Diaz so deserves more - which is probably true. However, if they're offering PPV points on top of his base fight money then that's a good deal with the potential to make some proper money.

Fighters go on about wanting Rousey/McGregor money but it's worth noting Rousey and McGregor, at their peak, seemingly fought all the time against all comers (obviously aside from being their two biggest stars). It's a balancing act. Truth is almost all fighters are dispensable since they've got into bed with ESPN; there is less reliance on the PPV cash.

  15. You hope she had smart people around her that ensured she got a slice of that Rousey fight. Madness if she just got her show and win money for that ($200k), while Rousey got $3M just to turn up.

She got absolutely buggered if she didn't.

Regardless, $500k per fight for her last 4 bouts has obviously made her more financially secure.

    Does she get PPV points?

I really don't know. It's just if she does then she'll have made good money on a few fights. Silly business if she didn't negotiate champ points for the Rousey fight at the very least. We do know she's been making around 500k per fight from Cyborg onwards. Certainly should have enough to have a good break for a couple of years and comeback when she needs a pay day.

Thing is, I seriously doubt she's made anywhere near enough dough to see her through the rest of her life, let alone set up a child for their future.

Maybe she has investments and suchlike that will provide a return, but failing that I think she'll be back.

I'm wondering how much she's made off PPV points. She was champion when she drew that huge number with Rousey. Nunes has also headlined UFC 200 and co-main evented a couple of Jon Jones cards - notably Jones v Gus 2, which apparently did around 700k. Whether or not it's enough to live off for the remainder of her life I doubt, but she's surely made some serious coin off at least two or three shows.

  18. It's between Fargo and Miller's Crossing but I give the edge slightly to Fargo, purely down to how often I've watched the bloody thing. No Country For Old Men, True Grit and Inside Llewyn Davis are in the tier just below that - all great films of course.

Sadly, I've never taken to Big Lebowski. Initially I thought it was mainly due to how heavily some people hyped it, but every few years I dip in again and it never seems to resonate with me.

  19. Da 5 Bloods commands every second of your attention during it's run time. I've just watched it so feel a little bit dizzy after it all, but it's definitely one of Spike Lee's better efforts. Not the masterpiece that is BlacKkKlansman, but it gets close in some parts.

Personally, I find Spike Lee films to be a mixed bag but that's two undeniable films he's released in a row.
