  1. Pleased for Paul Craig but it's rude that they're even advertising that it's Shogun in there. He's aged as well as Nu Metal.

Sheva is fast becoming one of my favourite fighters. She's just so good everywhere and dominant too. It's not like Ronda and Joanna where you can pick holes in an impressive package. Usually the deal is the competition catches up with the champ but Shevchenko just keeps getting better too.

Rogan has longΒ been a massive irritant. As adorable as his friendship with DC can be, it doesn't come close to making up for his rubbish commentary. My big gripe has always been Rogan pushing his own narrative over what it actually happening. Many a fight he's hampered because he'll get stuck on some point and won't let it go, even if the fighter he is questioning is dominating all 5 rounds.

  2. The one plus of having proper dorks running the company is they know their gaming and value it. I have no doubt Kenny Omega and Tony Khan are dead serious when they go on about making the best wrestling game ever. With WWE/Vince, they clearly see it as an annual cash grab and not much else.

An underrated part of how WWE got so big over here in 1999/2000 was that everyone seemed to have and loved the WWF games (whether that be Attitude, Wrestlemania 2000, Smackdown etc). The Smackdown game, in particular, seemed to create so many fans.

The last wrestling game I got excited about was the TNA game and that was a mess. Granted, Midway being close to bankruptcy and forcing out an unfinished game was the main reason it was shite, but still they had gamers like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe involved and we were promised No Mercy etc, so it was so bloody underwhelming.

The reveal video is decent enough.

His final season showed what an incredible manager he was. He did amazing things with that squad.Β

It's often forgotten this. Ferguson's last squad was pretty much running on the fumes of his last great squad. Rooney was well on the slide, Rio had lost a lot of his pace, Carrick was still only just coming out of a massive form slump and Fletcher is Scottish. Christ, Cleverly was seen as the future back then.

It was probably the worst title winning side in Ferguson's career, but with the addition of a prime Van Persie, he managed to get it done.

  4. Drew had about a 6 months with the belt - that would have felt like an age 20 years ago. Going by what I've read on here, he was slowly getting the standard champion babyface treatment where fans start to turn on him. Getting him away from the belt is maybe for the best.

Orton v Edge seems like it's booked solely for Vince. Like that time he told CM Punk that Batista v Orton at Mania was going to be "the biggest match of all time" when Daniel Bryan was hotter than a $2 pistol (norm.gif).

  5. Issy tweeted "Quality over quantity" and it's definitely something to consider when discussing Jones. He beats everyone but we've long moaned on here how rubbish the LHW division is, in terms of overall quality. I mean, even Jones is moving up because it's such a dullfest. Jones has the two victories over DC to his name which is very impressive, but he's never faced and wonΒ a run like Khabib's last 3-5 fights. The closest he's come is when he faced Glover, Gus and DC back-to-back - winning via decision in all of them.

The GOAT discussion is always a massively subjective one anyway. For me, GSP is the GOAT and that was before Silva and Jones starting failing drug tests. In GSP's day too, he was defending in one of the better divisions in the sport and, in his prime, usually always comfortably beat his opponents.

Yeah, Khabib vs Ferguson is officially the one that got away now.Β

Ruin my night, why don't you.

In some ways it's probably for the best. Given how cursed that fight is, the roof would probably cave in the second Buffer was done shouting.

Mad when you think over the past few months we've seen Dons like Cejudo, DC and now Khabib call it a day (with Silva next).Β

  7. That was next level stuff from Khabib. Dana was saying Khabib was at hospital with a broken foot 3 weeks ago too, just to add what a hard bastard he is.

I think I said in here that if he wins this then it's hard to argue him in that rare air GOAT convo, but with a performance like that it is undeniable. What a performance to retire on and what a way to honour his old man.

I assume he'll only ever return for a GSP fight, as that was his Dad's wish and dream fight.

  8. This one gets the dick wet.

I'll maintain my stance that it's foolish to bet against Khabib, given his previous, but Gaethje was that good against Ferguson that I've got the itch to do just that. Khabib has hilariously underrated boxing, mainly due to Joe Rogan being shit and refusing to waver from his '"Khabib just got clipped OWWWW" after a light jab' agenda, but you definitely give Gaethje the edge. Gaethje has talked about taking the fight to Khabib and ensuring he's not bullied against the fence, which is something Raging Al managed and, as such, wasn't wrestlefucked. If Gaethje keeps it on the feet, we've got a proper intriguing fight. Gaethje is no slouch at grappling too, of course.

As discussed in this thread, I hope Khabib gets the win for his old man. Proper shite year for him otherwise.

Leaving aside from the sheer fucking madness of finally turning THE chosen babyface star for the first time in nearly 20 years when there are no crowds, what do we think finally caused them to do it? Is it the ratings sinking so low that they're desperate for any buzz on Fox? Did Roman refusing to work during a pandemic cause Vince to fall out of love with him? What do you reckon?

It's probably a number of factors (such as them needing something big to push ratings and a potential Mania match with The Rock). Mainly, I'd put it down to them thinking "why not" becauseΒ Roman turning heel won't hurt their attendance figures or live show merchandise. It's actually pretty smart of them because probably by the time they're allowing proper big crowds in again Roman will be a massive babyface.

  10. I felt sorry for Costa losing to a man with a saggy tit. Clearly a great prospect but, outside of him doing some mugging towards Adesanya, he offered almost nothing. I'm amazed Adesanya never whipped it out post-fight, with all the bumming, cumming and breakdancing he was up to.

LHW title fight was decent enough. For the future, the champion being a man Jones hasn't faced is for the best.Β

  11. I think Khabib is in that rare air GSP/JonesΒ GOAT territory if he gets his hand raised in this. I hope he does too. A lovely moment for him given the few months he's had with his Dad passing. As wand points out, we don't know how he'll handle this going into the fight. By most reports, his Dad was not only a massive positive driving force for Khabib's excellence but he made sure Khabib kept a humble head on him. You only need to look back at the press conference immediately after he went Stone Cold on McGregor's crew. The only thing Khabib was concerned about wasΒ getting home and his Dad skelping his arse.

Gaethje is a monster though. The way he bested a great like Tony Ferguson, in the manner he did, was proper terrifying.

    High level stuff, this.

The poster situation is a strange one, isn't it?

I mean, I don't for a second believe that the UFC doesn't have creative people on the payroll. They could easily come out with something similar, which makes me think it must have something to do with branding and continuity between events or some shit like that.

IIRC, Helwani or Dana said it was down to branding. They feel making the posters they do is better because it's a recognition deal.

    Iron Man 3

During lockdown, I watched Iron Man 3 again. It's one of the few Marvel films that still holds up during repeat viewings, and there aren't any better than it. I really enjoyed it at the cinema but IΒ found it much funnier on repeat viewing, such is the power Shane Black.

  14. Like my astonishing lockdown weight gain, this creeped up fast.

The main event reminds me a bit of the Fury v Wilder. Adesanya is very clearly the better technical and faster fighter, but Costa can end you with the one punch. Adesanya has shown, for all his incredible ability, he can be a sloppy shite too which makes this proper intriguing.

I hope for the future of the division, that LHW title fight is a good scrap. Not sure anyone outside of the fighters families are arsed about a LHW division without Jones or DC about adding a bit of star power and personality.
