  1. My favourite is when Schaub repeats something Rogan said on a previous episode and Rogan disagrees because he talks such shite himself. I remember Schaub repeated Rogan's "Russians are the hardest" line only for literal Rogan to spend ages going full "pull it up Jamie" picking apart what shite it is. Poor Schaub was just hoping for a nod of agreement but instead Rogan spent the time making them both look like fools.

I would say he also ruined their main event scene for the past few years too.

Good for matches against smaller workhorses at Survivor Series ever year though.

Nah. This narrative that Brock is lazy and shite started when WWE were daft enough to use it in their 'Mania build for his feud with Reigns. Hoping Reigns would gobble up all the Internet points for shitting on Brock being part time but all it served to do was hurt Brock. The fans turned him babyface not long before that because they were loving the Suplex City stuff.

THEY ruined their main event because of that infamous Plan that never worked.

  3. Jones is definitely going to try his luck with this. He's been after a fight with Brock for ages now and you know it will do the business.

I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Brock has at least one big fight if the money and the opponent is right. One big pay day before he retires in the mountains somewhere. You know Dana is going to be making a play when he gets word of this; he's said multiple times in the past he's always open to do business with Brock.

  4. Brock has been the glue that has held their main events together for ages now. It always felt like they realised whoever got a shot of the belt sunk it so Brock got it back.

    Brock will always have offers.

Like always, if Vince gets a sniff of him joining anywhere else he'll throw some money at him.

Dana is 100% getting in touch, as he always does when Brock's contract is up. Only a short time ago Brock was walking into a heavyweight title fight prior to Vince throwing him more money.

  5. Aldo v McGregor gets a pass because the finish was so unexpected and outstanding.

One that comes to mind is Sonnen v Silva 2. The build up felt absolutely massive at the time and, after the first fight, some were building it up as Sonnen being the one guy that has the skills to negate Silva. Even aside from the smacktalk, it just felt like an intriguing fight. IIRC, Sonnen barely landed a glove on Silva. Summarised perfectly with that shite spinning back fist he tried.

  6. The DC run is a good example. DC bossed the division a few times but never really got his due because we all know he's just keeping it warm until Jones is back. As discussed, if Reyes wins it only heightens the sense of lower standards now Jones isn't about.

Wouldn't be surprised if the belt gets traded around for a while. Not unless someone really improves and gobbles everyone up.

None of us want divisions to be dull so hopefully Jones being out the way let's some other fighters shine. Similar to what happened when Mighty Mouse lost.

  7. I disagree. Top 10 HW is far more intriguing than LHW. Stipe, Lewis, Ngannou, Reem etc are a far more interesting group of fighters than anything else at LHW and are much bigger stars than most of them too.

Jones isn't leaving the division if the fights are there to keep him about.

  8. Yeah. The winner of Stipe v Ngannou makes the most sense. Ngannou and Jones have done a decent job hyping up that fight on twitter. The Stipe/Jones fight sells itself really - winner is declared the GOAT.

Jones at HW is such an exciting prospect. It's felt for a year or two he's stagnated fighting at LHW but as David points out, it's not exactly thriving with big time fights. Jones has been open in the past that he wants to make up for all the money he's missed out on and is inspired by Conor's want for the big fight. Bet the mad bugger calls out Brock Lesnar too.

If Jones bins the 205lbs division altogether then we can immediately designate it to "worst division in the sport" status.

It will be interesting to see if the division can improve now Jones isn't about to pad out his record. It's come on a little bit over the past couple of years but with Jones out of the picture I can't say there are many fights I'm too arsed about. Wonder if Gus will move back down now?

  9. Is there a proper movie or telly show wrestling has pinched from more than Mad Max?

Hopefully they try some fresh things during this and it isn't all that expense just to badly recreate the feel of a random Raw in January. I'm on about Vince dressed like the baddy in Fury Road and Jeff Jarrett playing a flaming guitar from high above the corporate dance truck.

  10. Fair play to him. Dana obviously shat it when he realised Jones wasn't playing about. I wonder what sort of offer they made him?

Hardly screwed up this time, has he?

We know how these things usually end up. He could be done again in an hour.

I think we can use this a general Jones thread.

It isn't so much satisfaction that a man had his eye almost poked out, but rather a sense of karma coming home to roost to an extent. Cormier is fucking terrible for putting those chubby fingers out there, and after yet another poke to Stipe earlier in the fight I was like "Yup, here we go again."

So yeah, hopefully the dude is okay, but if this had happened to him a few years back he may have thought twice about doing it to other fighters.

Oh, and fuck DC. Good riddance to the crying lump. Back to the booth he goes, where he'll hopefully stay.

Not DCs fault people kept attacking his fingers with their eye balls. Poor guy always had trouble shoving a kebab down his throat after fights (he managed because that's what champions do).

    Brave.

  12. I'm still a little baffled DC thought he could once again win a stand up fight with Stipe. I thought at the very least we'd see a lot more grappling from him, or at least intentions to do so, but not so. That first fight and how it ended really had DC convinced he was the superior boxer. I'm sure the nonces on here that hate on DC will take great satisfaction in how that eye poke went down, after the first fight. Proper crap refereeing though.

The rest of the show was very forgettable.

  13. With regards to the body shots, DC was very keen to point out on the DC & Helwani show that his coaches have noticed and drilled several openings they've spotted to hurt Stipe. Be interesting to see if that is the case.

Regardless, I still favour Stipe. I think I've favoured Stipe in all three fights. DC is great but he's old, battered and, realistically, completely undersized compared to Stipe. DC seems to reckon he just needs to wrestlefuck Stipe and it will be easy, but everyone seems to write off Stipe and they tend to lose.
