  1. Very excited for Download.

There's a bit of something for everyone, but it's hanging with mates all weekend getting nostalgia hits from being like 9 or 10 and then bands I'm into today. Just overall will be lovely.

Actually I've seen a fair amount of "aww that's so sweet he's like her dad" kinda stuff. But yeah the occasional "whys he being all creepy with young girls" from people who hate him anyway.

I did find the photos and support to be more like a caring older brother sk glad it's not been taking too weirdly by too many.

I guess he can hang out with Cora more now.

I manage to avoid Twitter these days as much as I can but I assume there's already a "he's replacing AJ with her" discourse on there?

I do feel for Punk, but I did expect this to happen sooner than later. He is someone who has months out of action, through different reasons then trains like a mad man in a short period of time, putting a lot of effort on a fairly broken body and once he starts taking more and more bumps and risks gets injured again.

All in on Gunther to take the title now.

You seem completely unwilling to accept that they might have changed who Brock was going to be eliminated by when they replaced him with Bron (reported a good day before the Rumble by the sheets).   So by your logic you think Brock was going to come in, piss his pants at the sight of Bron & Omos and throw himself out, because it’s entirely impossible they changed anything…just replaced Brock with Pat.

Christ you're so boring. I read this, had an unmandatory nap, woke up and read it again and I need a proper sleep the second time round

I mean we saw Vince.. and we saw what happened with Jericho and TK.. so it's not completely out of the question we get Lesnar this weekend.

From websites I've read he was due back soon, maybe even as soon as this weekend as the Rumble match is a perfect place to set up a Lesnar feud.

But it seems horrific even for the company to go and put him on screen when admittedly he hasn't been named outright, but his circumstance around his contract seem to indicate he was involved and while Jericho was rumour, Vince is someone who thinks he's invincible, you'd hope TKO heads would go "just for this weekend, stay up in the mountains".

I can't believe this could potentially be the end of the Dads. A truly dark day in this forum's history.

    It was time.

Never again will I have to explain to friends when talking about this forum, 3 foot floral football tributes, shitting backwards on a toilet or why McColls is an institution that you lot did not label me Shitehead in what may have been my early 20s 😂.

Finally got my pub quiz team name and I'm very happy.

My preference would be Lesnar beating him for it off the motivation that its a title he's never held, then point Gunther at a World title. Gunther looks no weaker in defeat and can move on with his head held high, and the next Intercontinental champ doesn't lose out by not ending the record-setting reign of Gunther, because they get to beat Brock Lesnar for it.

Oh, and as an aside... we get to see Gunther vs Brock Lesnar.

I reckon we probably won't be seeing Lesnar on TV for a fair old while at the moment.

It's 1:56am I'm now singing Brand New Combine Harvester by The Wurzels. This is not how my Thursday should've gone.

  10. Jesus Christ.

I know we regularly talk about just how vile this business is in general, but if what's been reported comes out as true, I hope she takes every penny she's entitled to from him. Reading some of that was absolutely horrific, but just off what you know about the man himself over the years, reading a sentence that he's named different sex toys after wrestlers genuinely doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

If it does come out that Brock was involved in this to that extent as reported and that the company clearly hasn't actually even dived into an investigation just tried to sweep even further under the carpet, fuck the lot of them.

  11. I have a real suspicion that they'll go down the route of Cody and Punk eliminating each other in a joint elimination, Gunther winning (maybe over Drew last or he's the one to take both Cody and Punk out at the end as they battle each other) and Rock to show up at the end of Reigns title defense.

That way they can have WrestleMania go Gunther Vs Rollins (which would never main event a night given all options) to start a show and have Gunther pelt him through the mat, Reigns vs Rock night 2 and Cody vs Punk in a grudge match at the end of night 1. There's more upside there for a Rhodes win and him to move post WrestleMania to fight Reigns at SummerSlam and "finish the story" (sorry) after beating since Reigns; Brock and Punk, maybe try and get Cena back for a one off before then, really sell Rhodes as the future. Punk can redeem himself before facing Gunther, or be a first challenger for a healthy again Rollins if he comes back to take the belt back.

Gunther can vacate the IC title and make that the main takeaway of Elimination Chamber. A 6 man chamber of Drew, Zayn, Jey Uso, Jimmy or Solo, a returning Sheamus and LA Knight would be tasty and the potential for a shake up. Can use that to tie the eventual Jimmy Vs Jey match they'll do at Mania as well.

  12. Chris Colt was one I went on a bit of a deep dive on a while ago and it absolutely could be the best episode of the lot. So much tragedy in his life, controversial gimmicks, choices of lifestyle post wrestling and while wrestling and how he died, it's one of those episodes that will be a solid hour about a name you've maybe not heard too much about.

I wonder if they have too many possible challengers for the WHC at the moment with Punk, Cody, Gunther, Drew etc and Priest is just in a holding pattern until after Mania now. They could definitely reheat him, but at the moment it's hard to see where he fits in with plans and as he technically has the briefcase to use until July, I wonder if he may just be circling the runway for a few more months.

I expect them to pad out WrestleMania with him vs Finn, but at that stage you're turning one of those two face and having yet another face turn who has no mates because of how horrible they were as a heel, I can't see too many of the Raw face side coming to his aid in beat downs after he was the leader of his group of troubled goths the last few months.

Finn costs him at the Rumble, maybe taking a chance thinking he's more likely to win late on, he costs them the tag belts in return the following RAW and then it all implodes.

  14. Last night just made me want to see Gunther absolutely destroy Rollins in a few minutes at WrestleMania for the title. Huge chop, lariat, powerbomb, win. Have Seth go in still "unable to fully walk healed" and take the challenge because he won't back down, then go off recuperate some more and come back around SummerSlam fully healed for revenge.

Last night also made Damian Priest look like an idiot and the momentum is gone with him.

The world champion you've been trying to take the title from at every opportunity for the last 2 months, hobbles to the ring, looking like a fluorescent hipster tellytubby (and yes I have to admit I both loved the suit and hate that I want it) to tell people he's injured and vulnerable and currently unable to compete and instead of legging it down to the ring or even just finding him backstage, giving him a hiding and dragging him back, he's hanging out in his club house with "two guys, a girl and dont Google me".

It's like they've either panicked writing wise or just not even bothered, you could try to play the line of him expecting Drew to turn up again, but at this stage it just feels like they've given him the briefcase off the back of Puerto Rico and the Bad Bunny match and hype but never had any plans to pull the trigger.

  15. Part of me can see Netflix going down the Disney+ route of having a detailed area for WWE like Disney has for Nat Geo. That way the user interface will be much easier for wrestling fans to get around and not clog up Netflix's home screen with tons of half naked muscle men. Would make it easier for parental control points as well.

That would all but be the death blow for the Network itself. I imagine in a post takeover world, the way they've looked at cost cutting and streamlining in different areas, getting rid of the physical sale of DVDs and the likes this is the next stage, take the running costs out of their hand and instead be paid for someone else to do all of it.

As such, it gets Netflix more subscribers from people previously subscribed to say TNT or WWE that then realise all their other favourite shows are available.

The writing always seemed on the wall for TNT losing its rights after the takeover themselves and the correlation with AEW. That's surely where their TV rights will go now as well in the next round of renewals, use TNT Box Office for all big shows and probably stop using the Fite Network.

I've got to say it does feel easier for fans this way. Instead of paying £10 for WWE, £30 for TNT, £9 for Netflix, instead in 2025 you're realistically paying £12-£15 for Netflix with WWE as a further subscription tied into your monthly amount. No raise in fees for non viewing audiences, but a huge saving for those trying to do it all.

  16. Is this the same knee he bunged up a few years back? MCL tears have a lot less time on the shelf compared to an ACL to a point he'd be touch and go for Mania depending on the surgery route he chooses. If it's the same knee he's done before it may be advised to him to undergo a lot more strenuous surgery and recovery.

As much as his cackling, wish Joker routine isn't for me, you have to feel for someone who's potentially twice now at the top of their business had the rug pulled from under them in something that just was so unfortunate to happen.

It would be interesting to see what happens should he have to vacate, does the title become the main prize at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber becomes the right to fight at WrestleMania while they rush The Rock out after Reigns match at the Rumble?

It's absolutely outrageous if Kurt angle has an episode but somehow Jeff hardy has evaded one yet again

The thing is Kurt has been very open about his struggles when he was physically messed up and seems like he's come back out on the other side better. They could even play it as the all American boy who got corrupted by the bright lights and glamour of New York.

Jeff on the other hand would have narration from a current co-worker talking about how messed up he was and is under contract with an owner with enough spare money to start his own wrestling company because he was bored. The sheer amount that wouldn't be talked about for fear of litigation or sealed up, it'd be a dreadful episode.

Harley Race and Beefcake I must admit I don't know enough about their history for why it would make a Dark Side episode but I guess that's why it'll make an interesting watch. Even for someone who loves wrestling I'd be learning something, not treading over old ground.

Black Saturday has all the makings of a great sleeper episode depending on what talking heads they have lined up for it.

5 years ago a regular member of our Monday 6-a-side football group was diagnosed with cancer and was dead within a month. An absolutely lovely bloke with 4 boys, we were all devastated.

I proposed we all chipped in for a floral tribute and the boys donated good. We raised quite a bit of money and not really knowing how such things worked or how much such things cost, I called the local florist and asked if they could do a tribute in the shape of a football.

They asked how big and I just said whatever you can do for the money we’d collected.

On the day of the funeral, those from footy that could get out of work turned up and just as the hearse was making its final approach to the chapel, I heard a loud “Fuck me!” from my mate Ashley. We all turned to look at the hearse and saw the BIGGEST floral football you could imagine. I mean, this thing was comedically huge - easily comparable to those big yoga exercise ball things.

It was so big, all the “Dad” and “Brother” tributes had fallen off the coffin and were face down around the edge, meaning all that could be seen was this massive fucking football.

I can’t remember laughing so hard and trying so hard not to. None of the couple of hundred people who showed up knew who we were or why there was just a big football on the coffin.

I still laugh about it now.

I'm crying with laughter so much in the pub someone's just asked me if I'm okay as I think they think I'm having a meltdown.

This thread will take some beating come next year's awards.
