  1. Was there any sort of storyline or did they just gradually start to announce it?

They started pretty much immediately after his turn at Survivor Series which had been preceeded by Vince claiming that he'd written Shane out of his will due to his mutinous actions.

  2. What was up with Shane McMahon being announced as "one of the owners of the World Wrestling Federation" in 1998/1999?

To make him seem important, like Vince, to donate some of Vince's heat to him. And because at first, no one will have known who he was.

Apart from one or two die hards who spotted "the ref from Rumble 91" or "the agent trying to keep Savage and Flair apart at Mania VIII."

  3. Second half of the show results :

El Generico pinned Chris Daniels after the turnbuckle brainbuster for the World Television Championship.

World Tag Team Champions Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin beat The Briscoes, The All-Night Express and Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli :

    (I) Rhett Titus pinned Jay Briscoe after a flying kneedrop,

(II) ANE eliminated after Hero used the loaded elbow,

(III) Haas pinned Hero after a double spinebuster.

Davey Richards pinned Eddie Edwards after a running soccer kick for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The world title featured some stunning spots including Die Hard on the apron and a flying double stomp through a table from Edwards and a double stomp from Richards while Edwards was in the ropes. After numerous attempts to illicit submission via a cross armbreaker from Richards, Achilles lock from Edwards and ankle locks from both, Richards took Edwards down with a barrage of spinning back kicks, the final one which sent Eddie down to his seat. Davey then sprinted the length of the ring to kick his tag team partner flush in the face, then pinned him.

Both men stayed down for a long period of time after the final bell and needed help back to their feet, after which the two men had a heartfelt embrace. Fans chanted Eddie's name in appreciation of his reign, before Davey cut an extremely emotional speech thanking fans and the other wrestlers for keeping him going during some personal tragedies and giving him "something to believe in." He seemed genuinely overwhelmed and sincere when he claimed "this means everything to me."

The king is dead, long live the king.

  4. I'm so excited about the announced card, I had almost forgotten about the possibility of Kevin Steen showing up!

    EDIT

Results from first half of the PPV

    (1) Tomasso Ciampa pinned Colt Cabana after a powerbomb onto the knees.

    (2) Jay Lethal pinned Mike Bennett after a flying elbow.

    (3) Homicide pinned Rhino with a sunset flip as Rhino attempted a Gore through a table in a no-disqualification match.

    (4) Michael Elgin pinned Steve Corino with a spinning powerbomb.

Rhino and Homicide went all over the place. After the decision Homicide decked Nana but that was enough distraction to allow Rhino to Gore him through the table. Looked in rough shape afterwards.

Steen came out in the crowd, introduced by Corino to a massive pop but the security escorted him out. He return after the decision as Elgin and Martini were beating up Corino and Jacobs, only to swerve by saying "Fuck you Ring of Honor!" and booting Corino in the gonads. He was taken out by security who carried him out on his back over their heads as he laughed maniacally and gave everyone the finger. What a man.

  5. I think he just did two German dates of their European tour and got on the first bus home.

He wrestled Yoko on these shows :

    Vienna, Austria - July 29, 1993

    Dortmund, Germany - July 30, 1993

    Offenbach, Germany - July 31, 1993

    Munich, Germany - August 1, 1993

    Berlin, Germany - August 2, 1993

    Edinburgh, Scotland - August 3, 1993

    Earls Court - August 4, 1993

    Toulon, France - August 5, 1993

    Sheffield, England - August 6, 1993

    Then left.

  6. i cant bye it from there. its in american. will silvervison have it?

Why can't you? If you have a debit card, you can buy from there.

Fucking hell GFL, send me my password reset then damn it! I'm getting anxious! Want it paid for by the preview show! How long does an automated email take???

  7. I know part of why he went back to WCW was him not liking JR and competing for the lead announcers spot and of course JR would have been considering going to WWE about the time Schiavone left.

Not really. He couldn't have "gone back to WcW because he didnt like JR" because the two were never in the WWF at the same time. Nor was the time he went back anywhere close to the time Jimbob left WcW.

He went back to WcW in 1990 when JR was still prominent there and the two coexisted for about three years until JR left WcW because he felt slighted that Eric Bischoff was promoted to Executive Producer over himself, even though he had much more experience working in wrestling television.

  8. Ah right, thanks. I was beginning to wonder if there was a whole 3-man Orient Express period I'd completely been oblivious too!

    There was.

Aldo Sato was briefly rehired in summer '91. The three-man Orients got beat by Tornado, Steamboat and Smithers on the 1991 SummerSlam Spectacular. Incredible to think three guys as high profile as Davey, Von Erich and Ricky The Dragon actually needed a warm-up for Warlord and Power & Glory, who were glorified job fodder by that point.

  9. Sorry, wasn't sure if I was misreading this - if the Marty vs Martel match you are refferring to was from before Survivor 90, the Shawn vs Kato match can't have been the same night (as in the same taping) can it? Kato didn't turn up until early 91, I thought - it was definately Sato & Tanaka at the Survivor Series that year.

You are misreading it. The Michaels/Kato match he was referring to was the same night as a Jannetty/Tanaka match at MSG I also mentioned in the quoted post.

  10. I seem to recall a match with Pat Tanaka that ended with a nasty sitout tombstone on one of the home releases taped (I believe) at MSG which was pretty good.

Of course, the king of "while in the Rockers" Marty singles matches is the one with The Model off Greatest Hits.

  11. I wouldnt be surprised if Taka is still up there now.

In which case, all his AJPW junior heavyweight title defences get an extra star out of me. Kaz Hayashi v Sunny's axe wound w/Taka is surely the Flair/Steamboat of our generation.
