  1. The action in Edwards/Strong was sound, but it was ludicrous over-booking of the worst kind.

The idea of a third fall being "to settle it" once you've established both are fairly evenly-matched by tying the first two - then having said fall be an Iron Man - creating the possibility of MORE "evenness" and necessitating overtime - just over egging the pudding from the outset, and if the concept of the match promised masturbatory booking, it delivered it in spades.

  2. Sorry my mistake no idea where I got that in my head from, did Carter ever wrestle for ROH in the early days?

Yes. He got choked out by Joe in a four-corners with Matt Stryker and Colt Cabana at Epic Encounter, got pinned by Stryker in a "pure wrestling dream match" at Do Or Die, and pinned Doug Williams at Death Before Dishonor. I believe they stopped booking him because nobody gave a shit. Pity they didn't notice that of Stryker until it was far too late.

    Ugh, I feel dirty now.

  3. Any reason why he never made it big?

Watching his work as "The Technician" Tom Carter, I'd say it was because he had little in the way of a personality in the ring. His execution was sound but he was about as inspiring as his ring name.

  4. "They love Kevin Nash and old school WCW and seem to think their far cooler than the average wrestling message boarder goer because there lads who like a bit of banter."

"They all have it in their sigs and usually gang up on anyone who disagrees with one of them over TNA or old school WCW which is i think what happened to get the name being banned as they kept ruining threads by turning them into bitching threads against an individual. Sometimes the individual deserved it, sometimes they didn't but i guess it happened one to many times."

Pretty fine epitaph. Although you have used "their" or "there" in place of "they're," failed to capitalize an "I" where necessary - twice - and used "to" instead of "too" in your final sentence.

Decent effort, but you aren't going to get the extra 5% for SP&G.

  5. Sorry to sound like an absolute bellend, but what exactly is 'the pCc' I see on some members' sig, and what do the initials stand for?

It stands for pretentious Cunt clique. It means liking bacon, darts, War Games 1992 and correcting other members' punctuation, and thinking that anyone who doesn't like all of those things is an absolute bellend.

  6. I genuinely use some Fin Martin lines in everyday conversation, to this day. My favourite being "(Ahmed Johnson/Big T) looks like he has been sticking to a strict diet of cake".

In regards to the same wrestler, a PS line I always use when talking about some fatty is "been taking advantage of Tesco's two for one offer on butter pies and lard cakes."

There was another caption which slayed me at the time on a photo of Big (gu)T performing the Pearl River Plunge on IIRC Billy Kidman, which stated "Burgers, pies, dripping, lard.. TAFKA Ahmed Johnson has certainly been tucking in since last we saw him." "Tucking in" just killed me.

I actually think my favourite line was from the letters page, when some lad referred to Nation-era D'Lo as a "tub of guts in a silly hat."

  7. Better late than never, re : Steiners debate.

Their appearances in the bingo hall were (IIRC) in the summer of 1995, making it rather moot whether or not there were any no-compete clauses in their contracts regarding ECW. They didnt show up back in WcW until early 1996. They had left the WWF, as mentioned previous, in April 1994 shortly after Scotty had lost a King of the Ring qualifier to IRS.

  8. What about outside fake angles have they ever used the same name twice?

There have been more than one man playing Doink - Matt Borne, Ray Apollo, Steve Lombardi, Steve Keirn, Nick Dinsmore - but none of them have ever been a "fake" Doink, they have all just been "Doink."

  9. Have WWE ever given two wrestlers the same name bcause they owned the copyright for the name?

There have been two Undertakers, two men calling themselves "The Rock," two Razor Ramons, two Diesels.....

... and of course, at least six Ultimate Warriors.
