  1. Great post with regard to Gatti. He has to be one of the mst exciting fighters ever. I love it at the end of Gatti Ward 3 when they are getting interviewed together and Ward refers to him as Jason of Friday the 13th. I'm currently looking through loads of Gatti stuff on you tube. It kind of shows how good Flyod was-is, that Gatti could not lay a glove on him. That fight was a brutal one sided affair.

I struggle with boxing autobiographies as, like you say they have alot of childhood stuff what many readers are not really interested in and they lack the drink and drugs scandal of wrestling books which i am so used to. I enjoyed Nigel Benns book and have read books on Liston and Duran which were not self biographies but books about them which were very good.

Just watched 45yr old Skelton beat Dallas - he looked ok actually.

Also Jamie Mcdonell just won quite easily, hes one of my favourite british fighters at the moment, so down to earth. Loved the segment on Ringside on him - even if he does like One Direction and sunbed regularly.

Waiting for Wladimer to destroy Mormeck, i expect a second half stoppage with Mormeck not winning a round.

  2. David Haye statement.

"During the post-fight press conference, I was stood at the back of the room. It wasn't until Bernd Bonte said my name and involved me in the press conference that I commented. I was then happy to banter back and forth with Bonte and Klitschko, keen to ascertain whether he (Vitali) would stay true to his word and reiterate his desire to do what his younger brother couldn't do

  3. Chisora is quite durable, but for how long is anyones guess. I do think he will go in there and have a good go for a couple of rounds, but like most opponents of the Klitchkos, once they get hit a few times from their savage jabs they seem to go in to survival mode.

  4. Thanks for posting that, i'll watch that later. Yeh Gatti is one of my top 5 ever as well, it was the Ward fights which got me in to him. I kind of lost out on a lot of boxing from 2000-4 other than the really big fights, as they were my main sessioning days. But it's great watching all the fights i missed out on on yt.

I have read that alverez may fight either Williams or Mayorga. I would prefere to see the Williams fight myself. Either way i think him along with Chavez will be matched carefully for the next few fights just to rake in the money.

If the boxing news 2011 annual is still on sale i would reccomend it to anyone, it has a 40 or so pages on the 4 kings, with all the original reports on the fights at the time.

heres a quality clip i was sent the other day, it's not that recent but it's funny. I would watch the whole clip from start to finish. This guy is the new Naz.

  5. Berto v Ortiz has been postponed, Berto needs surgery on his arm after a training injury. I would like to see Khan v Brook or Ortiz myself.

Saul Alverez is meant to be fighting on the Mayweather Cotto undercard, but no opponent has been named yet.

  6. I didn't see it myself, watched the frampton fight and thought he looked quite impressive. Look forward to him and Quigg fighting before the end of they year. Ringside last week was good with Quigg's trainer having a few choice words for Mcguigan.

See Degale has left Frank Warren, so i would expect to see him back on sky shortly, unless he signs with hennessy, which if he does he would be on channel 5, either way it will be good to see his fights again for those who do not have access to Boxnation. Even if he does seem like a right cock.

  7. houchen - this ones for you and rich - i was such a hulkamaniac at the time i couldnt see past the hulkster. This is great, sorry this is the perfect clip to show the perfect athlete, he not only looked wicked and wrestled wicked but he looked a great laugh as well. Re-open Wentworth especially for Him and Jock Stewart in a falls count anywhere matchup - the freak the ref, pow face the time keeper, meg morris the corner person and major as the enforcer. Lizzie in perfects corner and lou kelly in jock stewarts - what an emalgamation of charachters.........lumberjacks for this match will be.....reb keane, lurch, bundy, demolition, craven (alf stewart from blakmoor) don muraco, joyce barry, erica davisdson, sonia stevens, marie winter, sherri martell, JEFF, SD Jones, brady boone, pork chop cash, kas parker, honay from shortland street as a talent trade - des from neighours......len murphy, vera, the freaks dog......

should have been a tag team - austin and rock sing

  8. All these should be on you tube - of the top of my head in no particular order..... they range from short fights to distance fights. Some of the fighters names might be spelt a little wrong but if you type them into you tube you will get them. Didnt include any of the heavyweight fights of the 70's as i'm not sure if they are on yt in their entirity.

    Bowe V Holyfield trilogy

  9. thing is ward can rough it up as well - also - the geezer who said boxing isnt a sport a few posts up - i would like him to explain a sport to me.... war froch..... people think froch will lose to a u.d is - as ward has hardly ever lost a round ever.

  10. pumped up for the froch fight, can see him losing a unanimous decision, he starts to slow and takes to many punches. can see him losing the first 2 or 3 rounds then struglling to get back into it. I just hope he puts up a good fight and makes it interesting - he normally does. i could see rnd 10-12 being a good old school ruck.

i think the yanks though have the future next 2 best pound for pound fighters in broner and ward, i think they are both something special.

  11. Does anyone know what the situation is with Box Nation for Sky customers? My brother reckons he rang up Sky to keep the channel on and he was told you got to do it via the Box Nation website, but has emailed them and had nothing back at all. Cheers.

  12. Today is the 21st anniversary of the first Benn vs Eubank fight. I'm sure everyone here's seen it but it's worth posting again.

November 18th 1990 at the NEC in Birmingham.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjXWjBAMr2c...nel_video_title

Fucking love this. From the Big Fight Live theme at the start, the hype video with the trash talk and contract signing, the mind games with them stopping Eubank's entrance music, the fight itself, the unexpected but short lived show of mutual respect after the fight. The despair on Benn's face at the stoppage. It's like a movie but it's real life.

And of course the post fight interviews

"He extended me like I've never known one could be extended. He'th won my rethpect you thee, he hurt me up the gutsth...he opened my tongue, my tongue'th open. Karen can we get married now? Marry me Karen"

edit - check the guys youtube channel in the link above it's full of classic fights and they're not broken up into parts either. Pretty good quality for youtube aswell. The full ITV broadcasts of Eubank vs Watson 1 and 2 are on there along with a load of old Roy Jones Jr fights, Hatton vs Tszyu among others. Some great stuff there.

Great find, i could only ever find a crap quality version on yt of this. Thanks alot.
