  1. The wedding was a great laugh but the rest of it wasn't for me. But this is perhaps because I had no idea Bron Breakker was a Steiner. What a shit name. Then this kayfabe unknown lad beats a guy who will be in the title match later and ISN'T added to the match?? And LA Knight keeps his spot? Did I miss something...?! 😂

The wedding is worth catching though, and the fans were great. Couldn't see any corpsing though which was a shame!

  2. As mentioned above, the show was focused and decent throughout. A nice vibe to it, good fans. The Lesnar section was just great, Big E was great, Heyman as usual. Bianca got a super reception and Becky asked a question I don't think has ever been asked at a contract signing before... "What if I...just don't sign it?" Fun segment too, I thought!

  3. I enjoyed the show. Some ups and downs in quality but I'm not so fussed about that when almost everyone has character (even those that only feature on Dark etc).

Like most here, I am not an Adam Cole fan whatsoever but was very relieved to see him join his mates. He will be perfectly fine as another Young Buck dickhead.

And talking of the Young Bucks, what a cage match. That's the type of bout I'll try and get non-fan friends to watch. I know a few people who have seen videos of Orange Cassidy and think he's great so a shame he was only really on the pre-show.

Enjoyed Jericho/MJF a lot more than I thought I would, and was totally rooting for Jericho towards the end (and wincing with MJF every time he alluded to the lower back pain, the worst!)

I still think topping off this show with a Hangman Page coronation would have been perfect, but I get that all eyes are on the show and ending with Danielson (and to an extent Cole) really did make the whole thing feel more big-time.

Finally, I also enjoyed Britt v Statlander but I've no idea why they didn't build up the challenger more with some backstage promos or just more (wacky fictional) background on her. I've only ever watched her in AEW and have a soft spot for her quirky ways but other than that, I've no idea what she's all about.

  4. I didn't sit through the whole thing but I thought they were 'bullshit' chants too, aimed at the fact the top guy on the roster just got beat by someone who had one arm handcuffed to a cage. It was original (to me) but pretty dumb too.

  5. Skimmed through the show. The commentary is unbearable. I like Pat McAfee and Jimmy Smith is decent but it's just what everyone has to SAY. Just a collection of aliens on another planet.

Anyway, the main thing: they made Bianca Belair look like a fucking moron. A total loser. Marking out like a little girl and then the 'match' itself. That should never have happened to her. Awful.

Let's try and be positive: I liked Seth v Edge, wasn't sensational by any means but they'd put effort into the story leading up to it. And the return at the end... he looked amazing. What a guy.

  6. It's great that all we have really is nit-picking. I thought the QT Marshall segment took too long to get to the point, still not liking the Team Taz dynamic, and the start of Thunder Rosa/Penelope was sloppy (and Penelope was wearing totally different attire to her Dark/Elevation stuff, what was that all about? Doesn't matter at all but it was weird to me.) Also weird was Jon Moxley ripping on Christian and Hangman.

But who cares about any of that! Again, nearly everything mattered. Everything had a reason and enough continuity to make you wanna care. I want to see Arn Anderson's son get a kicking from Malakai Black, to find out if the Lucha Brothers eventually turn on Pac, to witness Jungle Boy finally get a title around his waist, and jeepers Miro against Eddie Kingston!

  7. I don't know if any of them went over 2 minutes! I had it on in the background, I'm fine with a bunch of squashes but I think they need to throw some backstage bits in between to mix it up a bit. Jade's whole package is amazing, I hope they take their time with her and she continues to improve. And yep Kingston is great. I believe him when he says stuff like his favourite entrance music is Pretty Peter Avalon's 😂

  8. Yep as Gooner said, as much as we want Hangman to succeed, in character this would be the exact time he could disappear for a couple of months and it would make sense. And there's so much else going on to distract, the time would pass quick and it would be something to look forward to. And it opens up options for the Dark Order's potential reaction/journey too. Whatever happens, I have faith the shows will generally be fun, interesting, and keep you thinking of the possibilities, and that's all you need really, isn't it.

  9. It's also mad how several times (Gage, Juvi, Hikuleo, probably more) they've ended Dynamite with an announcement or cliffhanger revolving around someone who has never ever been on the show and is likely a one-shot deal only, yet it doesn't feel out of place whatsoever. Anything can happen up to the very last seconds.

Also, I can forgive all the rubbish in the two hours because 1) the good stuff is so good, and 2) even if something is rubbish it still makes sense, there's still a reason for it, it still adds to the continuity they're building. After I watch it, if I think about it too much, sure some parts felt like they were crap - but at the time watching it first, it mostly just feels unpredictable. And that's much better than boring.

  10. I was skimming through the show and saw Karrion Kross was getting his Raw debut. They built it up, they gave him a video package showing his dominance, he got the entrance (alone) holding the NXT title he's defended by battering everyone in his path, we see him laugh as jobber-era Jeff Hardy comes out... and about a minute and a half later babyface Jeff pins Karrion Kross by cheating for no reason. I'm still in disbelief.

  11. The Cena part and the main event in general felt fairly genuine to me in terms of crowd noise - but not the rest of the show. There were so many parts when there were fairly artificial-sounding cheers for something that wasn't that great, and then deathly silence. And it would never match with the crowd shots either. It's not about hating the product, as a life-long viewer it just seemed obvious, and it really took me out of the whole thing. In addition (no spoilers), the opening segment of Raw that was just on was the same - it didn't feel real at all, really off.

  12. Agree with most of the comments above. It was a rare occasion though were I felt like there was too much going on to fit in the time. The second match in the show being a forced break-up angle was great but the aftermath felt rushed (but then almost the entire storyline was off Dynamite anyway); the next match was a number 1 contender's match and announcement of the first-ever 3-way singles match (I think?) in AEW was kinda just brushed over too. As mentioned above the immediate end of the main event took the shine off the big title change. But this is all just nit-picking. Much rather have too much stuff going on than a bunch of repetitive robotic nothing like Raw.

Also, it took me a while to warm to Darby Allin but I finally did for sure this week. I like Miro but I really wanted Darby to fluke it and Miro to go off the deep end afterwards! I hope the lad has a well-earned rest now. Doubt it, though...

  13. What do ya'll think of this Cody promo on YouTube addressing the QT thing (starts at 2:40)? I suspect something similar will be said on Dynamite itself as they've definitely done repeat promos with the likes of Don Callis and Omega on different outlets - but I liked how this whole vid was put together to announce a simple house show.

  14. Awesome show from top to bottom. Haven't smiled so much in ages at the ending and like most of you, I wasn't that interested in many of the acts involved. I also think it helps that these streetfight-type matches feel a little more "real" sometimes compared to the over-produced and safe WWE style - as in, the props being used on Dynamite look a bit dodgy with sharp edges etc., and folk getting thrown into them could get more than a splinter or two. And then I thought Statlander looked like a maniac and could easily have believed that she re-injured herself within seconds of her return! This stuff keeps you on the edge of your seat. Well me, anyway.

Same with the Pinnacle beatdown - it felt like one of the FTR lads was in a real accident to me, and they just went with it. It being off-camera (unless I missed something) made it feel more genuine, even though at the same time the whole segment had clearly been edited in advance.

Every segment had something going on, right down to Red Velvet getting a beating. Even the match I cared least about (the women's tag) was fun and Tay Conti is just getting better and better.

It feels far too obvious, but I'm gonna go with Moxley getting written off next week thanks to the Bucks. It'll be about time they made up their bloody minds.

  15. Didn't enjoy it that much, the show was alright. Absolutely fuming that Big E was cheated and the commentators didn't care. "It's no disqualification," one of them said nonchalantly. I immediately imagined Jim Ross yelling "Well that's a damn shame! A damn shame! That big nasty bastard has screwed Big E!"

Good to see Carlito from my boy stable make an appearance, and I love Bianca Belair and was super chuffed for her. In general though I hate people winning Rumbles from the early spots, it happens far too often. The winners worked damn hard but it just makes later huge entries (Strowman for example) look like complete mugs for not doing more.

  16. I assume triple-threat tags are one of the hardest match types to work in, so even if it was weird and clunky in parts, I didn't mind. It's strange to see them all smacking and booting each other in the face though, we don't often get groups so willing to kick the fuck into each other on a regular basis in actual matches.

That opening match and segment though, it was wonderful. Laughed my ass off, smiled, cheered, was a little upset and curious at the end - just great stuff. Don Callis again was a great prick.

  17. I only watched the main event which was decent, but laughed joyously at

    Spoiler

super babyface Drew disrespectfully scoffing at the prospect of his Royal Rumble opponent by saying "It'll be like fighting my dad, mate!" right in his face. Hahaha

For some reason, I love awful matches ... sometimes. For example, the Undertaker vs. Big Bossman Hell in a Cell match at WMXV is something I enjoyed at the time, and still enjoy to this day.

I wrote a review of that match for this very site a couple years back (posted by Onyx2). I never want to see it again haha.

As mentioned above I also enjoy the Doomsday cage match, you can't beat the Booty Man and his frying pans!

  19. When it comes to quick, mad pins like these the first that springs to mind for me outside of Survivor Series matches is Steve Austin vs Yokozuna on the Summerslam 1996 pre-show(!) Austin won after 1 minute 52 seconds because the top rope broke off when Yoko went for a Banzai Drop. Slightly better in that he didn't just fall down like at Mania 10, but yep, a potential classic between legends ruined, heh.

  20. I haven't followed wrestlers on Twitter for a long time but I just read through Big E's feed, some brilliant little stories. Definitely worth a few minutes of your time.

As for Raw, like some others I was hoping to see a short video and it's the only reason I read the results, but what they did was fine for their position. They can do other things on the Network, they can work on something else, they did have Woods and Kofi discuss Brodie on Raw Talk - and I also thought that some of the more iconic shots of Luke Harper and action revolving around him involve Dean Ambrose. They can do what they like, eh.

  21. This totally sucks, for his family and his fans and colleagues, he still had so much more to give. Only 4 years older than me, it's terrifying. I don't remember ever wanting to post a comment in these types of threads, who cares about my opinion etc., but I lost my dad to cancer this year and this brings back to the surface some of those feelings. In June he was fine (on the outside) and exactly 8 weeks later he was gone. It's been the same kind of timeframe since Brodie Lee was on our screens hitting a home run, at the peak of his powers. These things can be tough to comprehend.

I managed to catch some Brodie interviews/podcasts too this year and he just sounded like the man - passionate and determined and excited for the future. Another good guy taken far too soon.
