GamesMaster was better than I ever could have imagined, they nailed the tone perfectly for both the kids and the old farts like us who watched the original show and getting Rab in as the main host was a spot on choice.

There's a couple of guests you'll recognise including a household name.

Presenter's a right scruffy bastard though, isn't he.

  2. Forced myself to get through Zero's missions on the new version of San Andreas tonight. Bloody hell, the plane one was always a nightmare but I'm absolutely certain it was never quite as awful to control as it is now. It only responds to the controller when it feels like it, and will happily lurch from left to right or divebomb to the ground when your thumb is nowhere near the stick. Really dreadful stuff. I only managed to get past it by driving the plane really slowly along the road, because that was the only way I could get the slightest bit of control over where it was actually going to go.

A few missions later, I found myself with only one marker / story mission available, so I headed that way. Amphibious Assault requires you to swim underwater, but CJ refuses - he'll duck his head under the waves, but then he just floats back up to the surface. No control over him whatsoever while he's underwater. Seems to be a known issue, or at least there are people on the internet complaining about the same thing. So, for now at least, that mission seems to be fucked. There are no others available, so it can go in the bin. Load of shite.

  3. The rain effect really is atrocious. I'm currently stuck on three missions on GTAIII - one because I need to drive a police car into a garage to rig it with bombs but the garage door won't open, another because I can't actually see what I'm supposed to be doing because of the sodding rain (I tried saving to advance time and clear the weather but starting the mission always puts me back at night time in the rain), and a third where I need to chase a speedboat but the only other boats that spawn nearby are those super slow luxury cruise type things which are nowhere near fast enough (the speedboat lad just zooms away and the mission fails within a few seconds).

I'm having a bit of a rough time with it, really.

  4. We've got carnage at work at the moment with staff and students from multiple departments across the campus getting positive PCR test results over the last few days. Everyone's been told to still turn up each day though, unless they either haven't been (or can't be) vaccinated (in which case they need to isolate for 10 days) or if they get contacted by test and trace. We've done pretty well at avoiding covid so far, but at the moment it feels pretty much inevitable that we're all going to get ill sooner rather than later...

On a lighter note, I went for the supercharged booster jab a couple of hours ago and followed it up with a massive Maccies to make sure it went in properly.

Also purchased this magnificent bastard (non-Maccies, but whatever) to keep myself topped up over the weekend.

  5. Kunt used to use a shitty little "cheapest one from Argos" mp3 player ("because at some point some cunt's gonna nick it"), so the news that he's now progressed to using actual modern technology really does warm the soul.

I see Prototype and Prototype 2 are reduced on XBox this week, and both can be picked up for about a tenner. Are they worth a look for that money?

They're both great, but a tenner seems a bit steep when you can get them for about £2 each second hand.

if you were around at the time you'll probably remember it, but Eddie Guerrero was fired from the WWE in 2001 and ended up working all sorts of dirty indies in the 2 years before he ended up back here.

Eddie turned up in the UK for that Revival show on Bravo in 2002 as well.

  8. Toploader's version of Dancing In The Moonlight. I can pinpoint the exact moment that I started to lose trust in the general public to the time when I walked past the stage and saw thousands of people clapping their hands in the air and singing along to this song at Glastonbury festival in 2000. I occasionally DJ student nights (or did, before "all this") and it still seems to be popular with the young 'uns even now. Fuck knows why.

  9. You'd think such a level of dismissiveness would be reserved for something completely redundant like the Amico and / or Playdate, rather than a useful new bit of kit that opens up a platform that's been difficult to emulate for years and years and years.

  10. The press release mentions it'll be possible to "side-load your own games via USB stick with full WHDLoad support and an array of options to choose from. Plus, save and resume your game at any time to help you finish those punishingly-difficult classics", which is super news. Looking forward to playing Neighbours The Adventure Game (the point and click one, not the shitty skateboarding one) on the big telly.

  11. And another thing to consider, if there's even a small chance that you might want to hook the Switch up to the big telly at any point, get a proper Switch instead of a Lite. Also, split Joycons are pretty much the best gaming invention of recent years, and you can't do that with the Lite either.

It generally happens when a new checkout has opened and I'm first in line. So I have to load at the front. Unless I just walk backwards and forwards to the trolley?

Just stop the trolley halfway along the checkout and load from the far end, the same as you would do if someone was in front of you. Just because you're first in line doesn't mean you have to walk right to the front of it. That sort of behaviour is almost as baffling as that lad who sits on the bog the wrong way round.

  13. Stewdogg knows. If you're leaving enough room behind you at the checkout that someone else can start piling their shit on before you've finished, you're loading the conveyor wrong.
