If you like 3 I'd say go for Blood Dragon next, it's a small standalone DLC set in 80's Synthwave like future. Really stupid but I remember enjoying it a whole lot.

Currently £2.99 for an Xbone / Series download code on Amazon, which is a bargain considering how much fun the game is.

  2. I was at that show, it was a total surprise. I can't remember the exact setup, probably Jackie Polo slagging off Liverpool and egging someone from the back to come and take him on. The Brookside theme hits, Jimmy wanders out, crowd goes mental, then you can see the rest of it in that video. I've been watching wrestling for going on 35 years and that's definitely one of the top 5 wrestling things that I've witnessed in real life.

  3. Went to the One Stop to buy some eggs this afternoon, but couldn't find any on the shelves. I wasn't sure if they even sold eggs, so I went to ask the lad behind the counter. His reply of "ooh, we do sell them but I wasn't here this morning so I don't know if we laid any today" cheered me up no end.

  4. The touts and T-shirt lads were out in full force outside Manchester Arena the other night too (Queens of the Stone Age, who were tremendous). Right in front of the arena stewards / security people, which I thought was rather brazen. You used to have to wander down the road away from the venue to find that sort of thing. I guess the staff have got more pressing priorities these days, rifling through everyone's bags on the way in and all that.

  5. The Infinite Wealth demo at the end of Like A Dragon Gaiden is ace. The first minigame I came across is a Pokemon Snap sort of thing called "Sicko Snap", where you get on a bus and take photos of lycra-clad hunks who are getting up to all sorts of strange and amusing antics all across town. The full game will be well worth the 50-odd quid just for that alone, I reckon.

  6. That "G' Wed" show looks like the sort of shite they put on at the Royal Court theatre in Liverpool - the sort of stuff that they advertise as being "written by, starring and made for true Scousers". I've had the misfortune of attending a few such shows over the years and they're always fucking dreadful. "Reds and Blues" was particularly awful, about two families living next door to each other trying to get along but they can't because one family supports Liverpool and the other supports Everton. Of course they realise at the end that they all love football so they should put their differences aside and get along like normal people. "Shed" was another cracker, with Sinbad off Brookside in the starring role. He went off on a 10-minute monologue about the government, which included all the usual complaints ("dey don't curr abarr uzz in Lipewl" etc) along with some of the most horrendous over-acting I've ever seen. I think he might have even forced some tears out during one of the more "emotional" moments. It made me feel a bit ill, but the mostly over-60s crowd went absolutely apeshit for it.

It's "go 'ead", anyway, not "g 'wed", so they've got it wrong before the shitty trailer even starts. Fuck off.

  7. I've got the day off work today, and I was quite looking forward to spending most of it playing Like A Dragon Gaiden. The sodding thing crashes at the start of the first chapter, a full-on console shutdown as soon as the title of the chapter appears on screen. I changed the HDR setting, which seems to fix similar problems with other games (basically just don't use it), but it's still not having it. Hope anyone else playing the Game Pass version on Series X is having more joy!

Edit: leaving the Xbox unplugged for half an hour before having another try seems to have fixed it (in combination with leaving the HDR setting turned off).

Presumably the Warhammer 40K DLC isn't too far away either, or the Back To The Future one.

The Back to the Future DLC is out on November 16th, £6.49 for five new jobs and ten new achievements/trophies.

  9. Nah I wouldn't worry about it. That flyer is from a company that pretty much gives free tickets away for events that haven't sold well. The good people of Huddersfield clearly knew it would be shit and chose to stay away, hence the offer of tickets "for admin fee only" (usually a fiver).

  10. I'd probably recommend playing Alan Wake 1 first, followed by Control. Alan Wake 2 explains enough for it not to be confusing, but the story will have way more impact if you're already invested in what's been going on. The first one's really good (the remastered version has got the DLC included) and Control's an absolute masterpiece (an all-time top 5 for me), so I say get stuck in right from the start if you can. But if you can't be arsed, I reckon AW2 will still knock your socks off. It's really quite an exceptional game.

  11. Being wary of spoilers so probably shouldn't say too much, but there's a chapter of Alan Wake 2 that was so unexpected and so incredibly well done that it absolutely blew my mind. Remedy have done great things with music in their games in the past, but this goes way beyond anything they've done before. Stunning!
