  1. Today was a bit of a disaster, but yesterday I talked myself out of a decent payday. I went for Min rather than Altior in a four horse £10 acca along with Ruby's other three winners. If Min won I would have won £250. If I went with Altior it would have been closer to £400.

I think I will steer clear for the rest of the festival. I am playing in the Amateur Poker Association Tour World Championships this weekend and want to save some wedge for that.

  2. Raw spoilers:

After what happened on Monday night my brain was triggered into overdrive obviously from what I have just dreamed up.

The Mcmahon's, Triple H and the Undertaker were in the squared circle doing their usual hype up of Wrestlemania in a Canadian city. Then suddenly Chris Benoit's music and video start to play. Obviously everyone is going "what the fuck?" After 20 seconds Shawn Michaels comes dancing out to Benoits music then cut a killer promo!

  3. When was the last time someone stole their opponents finisher and won? Obviously Shawn Michaels won with the sharpshooter in Montreal but I am sure it happened regularly during the Attitude era. I think it could be a great gimmick for someone (maybe Kevin Owens) who beats their opponents with their opponents finisher to embarrass and piss them off.

  4. Doesn't Barry Glendenning co host a show on Talk Sport? Surely that's worth a listen (says he who has never listened)

Indeed he does. He is the co-host with another ex Soccer AM gobshite Max Rushden on the Sunday Warm-up between 10am and 1pm. It isn't a bad show and has a couple of funny recurring features like Footballers are Nice where they ask a different footballer each week what type of pants they wear and how many toilets do they have, Another is Ian Culverhouse which is not to dissimilar to Mornington Crescent.

  5. I have been to DC and I thought it was the biggest dump on Earth and I have been to Hull (sorry Rick). Between the White House, The Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol Building there is a nice green belt called National Mall which contains most of the Smithsonian Museums. Outside that the city is a bit ropey.

Places definitely worth paying a visit are the Air and Space Museum where you can see the Apollo 11 module, The Spirit of St Louis and the Wright Brothers first plane. Arlington Cemetery was a haunting experience, made more somber due to torrential rain and a military procession for a fallen soldier in the Iraq conflict. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Kennedy Memorial was a surreal experience. It was cool to see the US Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence documents at the National Archive but beware that the security is as strict as an airport. If you get chance go to the Capitol Building it is a majestic piece of architecture with some great views at the top of the stairs.

Don't bother with the International Spy Museum, it was ok but it was aimed at kids. If you plan to catch a game at the Verizon Center there is plenty of touts on the outside to get some cheap tickets. I got $120 tickets for a Hockey game for $40, however it was a meaningless game as the Caps were out of playoff contention as well as the opponents the Penguins at the time. Tickets will be at a premium if the Caps or Wizards are challenging for honours, (Just had a quick check and the Caps are storming the Eastern Conference! You may have a better chance scoring tickets for the basketball)

I didn't feel safe in DC mainly because I had a bum stalking me for the four days that I was there. I made the mistake of giving him a cigarette and he loitered around my hotel professing his love for the tobacco plant. The trip didn't get off to the best of starts as when i was on the airport shuttle bus I was almost involved in an 'International Incident'

I jumped on the bus at Dulles and got chatting to some Aussies. I was giving them a bit of needle as we beat them in the Rugby World Cup a few months earlier. We arrived at the Australians hotel and one of the lads said to the driver "Crikey Dingoes mate wheres my bloody bag you Sheila?" (I may have exaggerated on the stereotype slightly)

The driver looked confused and it dawned on him what he had done. He explained that he took his bag out put it on the roof of the minibus to get another passengers bag and must have forgot to put it back in the bus. The Aussie fella was obviously irate and ordered him to find his bag. So off we go retracing our steps to try and find this bag. After five minutes the driver pulled over and here was this camouflage backpack under the lampost outside the Iranian Embassy. Thankfully for our Antipodean friend a controlled explosion did not happen on his budgie smugglers and Vegemite.

So yeah, if I was offered the opportunity to go back DC I wouldn't go, I would more likely go to Atlantic City but I am a degenerate gambler.

  6. Sad news about Iron Mike. I just had a quick look on Wiki and had a bit of a macabre chuckle at this quote...

Monsoon also pointed to Sharpe's known dedication to fitness and looking after his body and noted that "If more people took care of themselves like Iron Mike Sharpe, then about 20 million more Americans per year would live past the age of 65"

  7. I read a study recently which said that the human body is not designed to share a bed with a partner, still the wife takes offence if I sleep in the spare bed.

Maybe the answer is to get a hotel Queen bed which can be zipped apart to create two single beds.

  8.

Think I remember reading something in PS along the lines of WWE dropping Estrada as Umaga's manager because he was so entertaining, which resulted in Umaga getting undesired face reactions. Estrada was quality though, they really should have found something for him to do. He'd be a million times better than that soulless Saxton lad on commentary.

Soulless Saxton is the best gimmick Byron never had!

    But he isn't ginger though.....

  9. The way that they have handled Tyler Breeze has been appalling. Not for a second did I believe he would be a main-eventer,  but at least a solid mid-carder. His debut was uninspiring and has been booked as a chump ever since.

I can't believe they didn't postpone his call-up until February to tie-in with the release of Zoolander 2. They could have start running vignettes around this time to build him up for a month, then he could have debuted on Raw with Ben Stiller or Owen Wilson as guest host to shill the film and give Breeze a rub.

  10. I voted for SCG. Ever since the show started Liam has triggered some wonderful debate and opinions on the forum for the better. Without it we wouldn't have had Butch's fantastic tirade at Shane "Norman Pace" Douglas.

The shows are brilliant as well which provides a balanced debate and it is the first podcast I have subscribed to in years. Keep up the good work lads!

  11. You have to remember Challenge TV also air WrestleTalk TV which has lower production values than Gay Rabbit and show random matches from FWA with its terrible lighting from the early 2000s.

From what I have seen of ICW it is of a decent standard and could easily be modified to fit TV guidelines. There is no need to rush to TV right away though. ICW have been organically growing at a steady pace and the TV will come after time.

  12.

Barrett's celebration after the match was boss. Jumping round the ring then rolling up the ring then holding hands with Sheamus while having his belly slapped by Rusev. They should make a European stable with those three, Cesaro and Neville. I know people have spoken about it before and some aren't overly keen on it but I reckon it'd work.

They should have the Europeans v the Americans at Survivor Series...

That's not a bad idea. They could compete for the Zack Ryder Cup...

I will find my own way out.

  13. I had a spare moment at work, so I ran UKFF Enterprises payroll for 2015/16. There are five employees earning different amounts £12k, £31.5k, £31.75k, £50k, and £100k you can see the annual figures in this link http://d.pr/i/1iRHh

In the example that Briefcase stated the person earning £31750 would pay £80 more in tax and NI but would still earn £170 more than the person earning £31500. I put the three other salaries in their as a comparison for anyone interested.

If you are ever lucky enough to earn £121800 a year that is the point where you will have no tax allowance and would pay a flat percentage of tax, but if you were earning that much you either wouldn't care or find a tax avoidance scheme.

The crux of it is, never turn down a pay rise as your net pay will always go up!

Edit: This was a basic payroll just with tax and NI deductions. There was no additional payments (bonus etc) or deductions (pension contribution etc)

  14. What we need is a white young bloke from England coming to the WWE speaking that ludicrous Brixton fake Jamican accent and bumping in to Regal in the corridor to exchange pleasantries.

Funny you should say that; one day I was having a fantasy booking daydream and conjured up a character that William Regal introduces as his uncle but turns out he is 25 years younger and a Cockney wide-boy, due to his grandfather being a randy bastard impregnating women up and down the land. Weeks of backstage vignettes then follow with William’s uncle showing him how to be a man by teaching him to fish, shave and how to repair a car.

I really need to reduce my medication.
