Tom Zenk
Dopper in the current Sabu thread mention that Sabu is of only a handful of people who have kept the same gimmick over multiple promotions and indies. Â Sabu has had the same gimmick in FMW, NJPW, Japanese Indies, WWF/E, WCW, ECW, TNA, Other indies. Â Can anyone think of other works who have managed to keep there own gimmick through multiple runs? Â I am thinking of the following: Â Nasty Boys (WCW, NWA, AWA, WWF, TNA) Â Â Â there must be plenty more, right?
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted May 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted May 6, 2011 Cactus Jack is another. Actually maybe not, he did divert into other gimmicks. Â Big Sid was himself in NWA, WWF, WCW and his brief stint in ECW. Â Dudley Boyz (ECW, WWF/E, TNA) Technically not in TNA.

LOD were the Road Warriors in AWA, Japan and NWA/WCW  Big Show was the Giant in WCW  The Warrior was not the Ultimate Warrior, different name.  Jericho's gimmick in WCW differed from in WWF, and arguably the same can be said for the others.  I have just thought of Mr. Hughes (WCW, WWF, ECW)
Kiffy
LOD's gimmick never, ever changed. The thread isn't who kept the same name, it's who kept the same gimmick. The answers still most recognisable names.

Paid Members JLM Posted May 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted May 6, 2011 The Dudleys is an odd one because it's not only the legally enforced name changes but the significant alterations to their looks and the specifics of their characters over the years that keeps them off the list for me. Their WWE incarnation largely did away with the stuttering, foul mouthed, presumably inbred Bubba Ray for obvious reasons, and their costumes were pretty drastically altered as well. Â Raven has been Raven in quite a few promotions despite using other gimmicks over the years. Rhino/Rhyno has the same act wherever he goes. Vader too. Â Tonnes and tonnes of Japanese workers, though a number of them just use their real names. Â I think not accepting Jericho is pretty picky. Paid Members neil's bitch Posted May 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted May 6, 2011 I would say most of the "old school" lot of wreslters (pre-1995) would be in the same name/gimmick catagory as its only really been in the past 10-15 years that rival companies have been trademarking everbodys names. Â I think alot of wreslters changed there name or gimmick when they worked for WWF due to trademarks (Such as The LOD for example).
Kiffy
Yeah but what difference does a name change or tweak really make? The original question was who kept the same gimmick, the answer was most of em.
