Fog Dude
The results went into the opening post on Sunday evening, and the table was updated later that night. It has since been uploaded here. A bit of movement masks a very low average score of 4.18 points. Mid-table Ratty scored nothing at all, whilst Glenryck edged further clear of the absent Seph. Exact scores were hard to come by, as only top performer and former champion SNRN10 managed more than two and made it into double figures. Rory and the inaugural Cup winner both bagged a brace each. Zebra Kid Mark had a fairytale run to this stage of the FPL Cup, but after sneaking through last week, it would probably have felt unjust had he rediscovered good form for the final. Instead, congratulations go to ultimo the great for an above-average haul when the pressure was on. He's been playing for a while now despite many disappointments in the league competition. He's never set the standings alight on a consistent basis this season or any other, but he can be very good at this on his day, and it just so happens that he's been good enough the past 4 weeks. Well done to the first-ever FPL Cup winner! Go on then, have a trophy: The low scoring can be explained by some unusual late-season scorelines. Sunderland got 3, Swansea 4 and Lyon 6... but Newcastle somehow contrived not to score any goals at all – none of which could've been easy to foresee. Spurs' home reverse to Saints was also tough to guess beforehand. Victories for Leicester and Nice plus score draws at Bournemouth and Man City proved fruitful, but yet another loss for Stoke in the run-in, this time against [FA] Cup finalists Palace, was less useful. I didn't mention the gap at the summit of the standings earlier. TildeGuy closed the advantage of MVP RULZ by 2 points to 31, which would mean it's over if the next card were a regular set of 10. In fact, to keep things slightly more interesting, the last fixtures of the season will see 105 points up for grabs. That'll be in a new thread shortly.
