Norwich City 3-2 Liverpool.

Norwich end the season in style, pulling off an incredible upset against the reigning champions. The writing looked to be on the wall for City when Javier Pastore easily got the better of the defence to make it 1-0 after just 3 minutes, but 22 minutes later Didier Drogba equalised after winning an aerial ball and bombing forward before unleashing a powerful drive just outside the six yard box. City were playing well, but were still undone by Diego Forlan, scoring against them in almost identical fashion to make it 2-1.

The second half saw Liverpool create some god chances only for Neuer to prove his worth as one of the best keepers in the world. A city break then saw Neymar square for Rafinha, who'd joined the attack from right back, who would lash home with his left foot to net another surprising equaliser. Then on 72 minutes the seemingly impossible happened, as a Neymar cross perfectly found the head of the towering Drogba, who headed home for his second of the game. Despite a nervy 20 minutes, City held on for an incredible win.

Norwich City 3 Drogba x 2, Rafinha

Liverpool 2 Pastore, Forlan

Liverpool's impressive unbeaten streak came to an end against a spirited Norwich outfit. Liverpool couldn't get their natural game going and dropped their 1st points of the season on the field.

Apologies for the lateness, was busy over the bank holiday weekend and had to work as well.

The final table is below and on the first post:

Let's have a breakdown of the final positons:

Champions - Liverpool (carmellaisagoddess)

Although it was already known that Liverpool had won the title, carmella still had an unbeaten season to defend which they were close to achieving but was taken from him in the last week by El Nicko Loco's plucky Norwich side in what's likely the result of the season. Overall though carmella's side dominated again but have shown they are fallible which will give encouragement to others that a hat trick of titles isn't a formality.

2nd - Man Utd (C/WMark Please!)

Man Utd managed to hold on to second despite even though at one stage they looked like title challengers. Some poor results recently meant they lost ground on Liverpool but good form throughout most of the season gives C/WMark hope that a better end to next season could see him as a serious title challenger next term.

3rd - Arsenal (Fox Piss)

Arsenal just take a podium position on goal difference over Wolves. A good season for Arsenal but a shock result or two and poor performances against the top two cost them the chance to challenge for the title.

4th - Wolves (blackcountrywwfc)

Just beaten into third place by Arsenal, Wolves finish a creditable fourth. A dip in form with defeats against teams below them towards the end of the season cost them dear, as with two wins from those defeats they would have finished second.

5th - Norwich (El Nicko Loco)

The headline makers in the final week of the season, Norwich held on to fifth place after a stunning win against Liverpool, though the back and front pages were instead filled with pictures of Delia Smith pouncing upon a helpless El Nicko Loco after the final whistle blew. A huge upturn in form in the second half of the season showed that with some extra time on the training field a struggling team can rise up the table, especially seeing how close the teams outside of the top four were at times.

6th - Brisbane Roar (stunstone316)

After pitching up a tent in fifth place for most of the season, Brisbane were knocked off late on by Norwich and just failed to gain their place back. Some poor form at times cost them dear, and whilst they kept in fifth for a lot of the season it may have created a false sense of security.

7th - Aston Villa (TezzRexx)

Villa just missed out on a top half finish but still had a creditable and improved end to the season. A better level of consistency overall could see TezzRexx become a top half regular next season.

8th - Bohemians (wmxxx)

Former two-time champ wmxxx had by far his worst season in the league thus far. Bohemians failed to gel and poor start and mediocre middle of the season kept them down near the bottom, but wmxxx showed his former self with a 6-1 thrashing of second placed Man Utd could be a statement of intent for next season.

9th - Fiorentina (Lawz)

A poor season for veteran Lawz, with missed matches costing him dear as decisions were forced to go against him at times when he may have been challenging for fifth otherwise.

10th - Everton (rohpete)

Despite some decent results Everton never really got going this season. Having spent most of the season avoiding the bottom a tenth placed finish will likely be viewed positively by rohpete as it could have been worse.

11th - Torquay United (TUFCfan)

Finishing eleventh on goal difference, Torquay managed to avoid finishing bottom after a shock last game win against Arsenal. After a traditionally slow start, some improved form in the middle of the season made it seem like TUFCfan would guide his side into a familar mid-table postion, but his side hit a brick wall, dropped down the table and were very lucky not to finish bottom. Some more time on the training field is need for next season.

12th - Middlesbrough (El Espanacas)

The hard luck story of the season as El Espanacas wins the wooden spoon. After a very poor first half of the season it looked like Boro were likely going to finish rock bottom but they suddenly found their gear and the results started to come with important wins against Bohemians, Brisbane, Torquay and Villa. Failure to beat relegation rivals Everton was their undoing in the end as a win in that game would have seen them finish a point above rohpete's side. They were off the bottom for a few hours but they had to rely on other results which didn't work out in their favour. Nevertheless, an impressive end to the season should give El Espanacas confidence for next season.

Thanks to all who finished the season. There might be another cup/tournament before the next league season, I'll just have to check with stunstone.
