Pride mode is gonna be awesome. Just seen this aswell on how the weight classes will work for Pride on Undisputed 3

UFC Bantamweight, Featherweight, and Lightweight = Pride Lightweight

UFC Welterweight = Pride Welterweight

UFC Middleweight, and Light Heavyweight = Pride Middleweight

UFC Heavyweight = Pride Heavyweight

So Pride Lightweight is gonna be fucking ridiculous. You'll be able to match up anyone from UFC or Pride's 155 roster or anyone from BW and FW aswell. So fights like Faber vs Pride Gomi, Edgar vs Aldo, Aldo vs Cruz, KID vs Gomi, Pettis vs Torres etc will be possible. Something tells me Pride's Lightweight division is gonna eat up most of my time on this game.

Steve Bunce on Boxing and MMA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...p;v=GziEc2On8Cg

I like Buncey and he's right in some respects here but he's being harsh on MMA outside the UFC imo. I don't think he knows enough about it. Sure there's some shit MMA shows going on just like there's some crappy boxing cards but there's plenty of quality MMA promotions besides the UFC. They're not as successful as the UFC brand obviously and he's right the UFC name dominates the sport and to a lot of people it is the sport. But he makes it sound like every MMA show apart from the UFC is shit which he is clearly wrong about.

Quote posted by Shane Carwin on The Underground:

"I got a surprise call today saying that a rumor is floating around about me retiring. I guess some people must be wishful thinking. For me the choice to have a surgery was easy. My Doc did not tell me surgery was the "only" option for a normal life. He said to KEEP FIGHTING surgery is the only thing that will stop my body from locking up. I could probably even continue fighting and risk it happening in a fight or while training. What my team and I decided was that I have no interest in just "Fighting and crossing" I want to be a champion. The UFC Heavyweight Champion to be specific. So I am going to have this surgery and be back better then ever. I have a lot to accomplish and I intend on punishing everyone they put infront of me. To beat the best you have to be able to train like the best. So surgery will allow me do that.

I may be an older fighter but I have less cage time then most if not all of the Athletes in the UFC. I have accomplished a lot in a very short amount of time. I have a lot more to accomplish. I will be back to the guy that is big and hits you so hard Joe Rogan gets a headache. I am going to knock people out and finish fights. The UFC is going to have to get special financing just to cover the KO and FoN bonuses they are going to have to dish out to me.

See you soon"

-Carwin

If only his actual promo's contained that sort of personality and charisma.

The UFC talk about their plans as far as the UK goes in 2012, in which they mention Scotland. I'll believe it when I see it to be honest.

Since making the UK market a priority a few years ago, the UFC visited the country eight times between 2007 and 2010. And even though shows there have tended to do big business, 2011 nearly came and went without a return, until the promotion managed to wedge one into the final stretches of a hectic schedule.

While some in those parts have claimed they've been neglected, UFC executives say they have already planned another event for the UK in 2012, and possibly a second.

"It's still a work in progress but it's a work we're prepared to do, committed to do," UFC managing director of international development Marshall Zelaznik said on Thursday. "Dana and Lorenzo are coming. We're committed to this market. We love coming here. The fans have been very supportive ... We're not giving up on this market and you can expect to see us here next year and I hope more times in the years to come."

The UFC has faced some troubles in the market due to unstable television contracts that have "disjointed" programming in Zelaznik's words, but each time they've brought the show to town, fans have turned out in droves. During the UFC 138 pre-fight press conference, he announced that Saturday's UFC 138 event, headlined by Mark Munoz vs. Chris Leben,at the LG Arena in Birmingham, would set a gate record.

Because of time zone differences, North American TV audience sizes are often affected by events held in Europe as well, though Zelaznik did not mention that as a factor in their scheduling decisions.

The UFC's ambitious international schedule -- Scotland and Italy are two European nations they've spoken of visiting in 2012 -- is ultimately to blame, according to the company. There are only so many shows they can produce, leaving someone, somewhere disappointed as a result.

"In a perfect world we'd be here more times a year, but as you know, you've heard our mantra, we're trying to get everywhere, and there's a lot of pressure to bring the event everywhere around the world," he said.

Still have no idea where they could have it in Scotland. The venues are too small or outdoor, it will only happen when Scotland gets a good indoor venue. There is just no point in having a UFC in Scotland when they could put the same show on in England and get twice the attendance, it's not like when WWE have there nothing house shows up here in Braehead.

The new arena at the SECC currently getting built?

Also, who said it would be a numbered show? You could easily do a Fight Night show in Scotland with current facilities.

The new arena at the SECC won't be finished until 2013 (at that) it will still only hold 12,000, How many non numbered shows have they done outside of the US? I doubt they would come over here for a 1 off fight night show as its just not worth there time to do it. That only really leaves Braehead and that can only hold around 6 throusand I think.

Metal, noticed you know a bit about UFC's Sunderland contingent. What do you make about De Fries fighting Broughton now? Huge step up from the Thompson fight for him.

As I mentioned before, I train at the same place De Fries trained (up until he left 3/4 months ago) and I've seen him in quite afew local BJJ tournaments. His ground game really is one of the best in MMA in the UK, certainly the best at HW imo. He is a 4 stripe Purple belt in BJJ under black belts Rodrigo Cabral/(formerly Aaron Naisbett, my trainer) who study under Leo & Ricardo Vieira, who are two of the very, very best in the whole world - Ricardo is a 9x World champion!

I take it that you train at The Dungeon? The only fight i

If the venues in Scotland are all too small why do they keep mentioning the idea of having an event here? Surely they would have already looked into this and ruled Scotland out?

They actually had a UFC Fight Night pencilled in for May this year but it got scratched for some reason. If I remember right it was gonna be Braehead.

I love that they've come back to Birmingham, the NEC is only a few miles from my place so it's really cool for me. But I am surprised they keep just going to the same couple of cities when Scotland, Wales, Liverpool, Nottingham etc still haven't had a UFC.
