  1. Why did you take part of his post out and ignore it?

Because I'm sick of reading how nice people are. It's got nothing to do with anything - I'm a lovely guy really, but I can't wrestle for shit. Fair enough, the rest of it might have plenty to do with it, but the point about how nice a guy he is has nothing to do with anything as I say.

  2. I can't believe Rainz is in the shit list! He's one of the nicest blokes on the scene

Might be very true, but it doesn't have a hell of a lot to do with being a good wrestler really. Also, the injury thing is very true. Sykes has also been known to do a similar thing.

  3. First of all I feel I owe the UKFF an apology. I know that for the past five months I should have been watching TNA, getting into the new "Monday Night Wars" and enjoying the "guilty pleasure" that is Kevin Nash. But gosh darn it, I somehow felt compelled to watch the best promotion in the U.S. instead.

    WWE?

  4. Can't argue with much in the End of an Age review :

This one is pretty much doomed from the outset

    - agreed, as soon as you heard the words "non title" you knew who was going over. They should have made it some sort of gimmick match - 2/3 falls maybe?

I'm still not quite sure why they did the angle at the of the cage match if they were going to junk Jacobs the next night - logically it didn't make much sense.

That seemed really bizarre to me as well. The only thing I could think is that perhaps Jimmy gave his notice after the first night, so they decided to cut it all short on the second.

  5. I've voted for Lesnar vs. Mir II because of everything surrounding it. If this category was doubled with 'Match of the Year' I'd vote for it in that too. The quality of the fight wasn't as high as some of the others when it comes to straight blow-trading etc. but the lead-up to and fallout from that fight alone makes it excellent, especially when you see Mir's life end in hamburger-faced fashion. A close second for me would be Bisping/Henderson - again not a fantastic fight technically but marvellous when you consider what the two went through on TUF prior to it. Guida/Sanchez would go third for me.

  6. When was the first Triple Threat match in the WWF? I searched but couldn't find any results.

January 21, 1997 - it was between WWF Champion Shawn Michaels, Sid and Bret Hart. Michaels won by pinning Bret with a crossbody while Hart was putting Sid in the Sharpshooter.

Cheers. I thought it would be late 90's.

  7. Hey guys, four guys are coming back to ROH. Three of them are worth anything whatsoever:

It was announced yesterday that Rocky Romero and Alex Koslov would be returning to Ring of Honor on December 18th & 19th. The company announced today that Jack Evans and ***** **** will also be returning to the company to work the December dates. ROH has a brief history of the competitors and their time in the company, which you can read here.

So who can guess what the name in stars is?

    Teddy Hart

    Fuck's sake.

  8. At GBH 8 the main event has been changed to Dragon vs McGuinness...the crowd will pop for it I guess, but personally I have no interest in seeing another Dragon vs Nigel match. What price a 60 minute draw?

To be fair, it seemed the logical conclusion once we found out BOTH guys were going to be leaving at that show. Bit harsh to give Dragon a title shot and shit on McGuinness' last night, at least this way it will be 'their' moment rather than just being one guy's moment at the end.

  9. Let's just hope Nigel's title reign ends with a bang rather than a whimper. It could potentially be his last match in ROH, if he decides not to sign a new deal.

See, I thought about this today and I can't quite decide, but I think Nigel has to be back in ROH now. Without the exposure of a company like ROH to push him up into WWE or TNA, he might not get the deal that he'd be hoping for, plus the extra teaching of being on TV would surely help his status in either company. So I predict that Nigel will clear up his injury, return to ROH for a little while, put over the new champ and then, as Gabe put it, "go and make his money".

  10. DDD - How can ROH 'need Bison Smith like a hole in the head'? He's a genuine big guy who can do power moves and looks legitimately tough, that can actually wrestle. If you hate Albright as much as you say you do because he stopped being the big powerful guy who does "big powerful guy" moves, how can you then go on to rag on Bison who does just that AND is actually American (unlike their usual NOAH imports) so he can cut a promo and identify with the crowd too?

The only anti-Bison comment I could accept was that he costs too much, and even then that's purely speculatory. In my view, Bison is exactly the kind of addition ROH needs - someone with charisma and wrestling skill who can come in and work towards a main event push quickly.

  11. Revealing themselves to be 'Project 161', the AOTF debut at ROH's PPV 'Man Up!', their 161st show. Group consists of Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black and Necro Butcher, with Lacey. Feud with the Briscoes erupts over the tag belts (and the power they bring) after they use the tether remaining from the Briscoes/Steenerico ladder match to hang Jay by his feet. This develops and Jacobs/Black eventually win the belts at Final Battle 2007, in the Manhattan Centre. Some time prior to this a woman named Allison Wonderland also begins to accompany them. They lose the belts within the month to No Remorse Corps' Davey Richards and Rocky Romero, but they gain a new member in Joey Matthews. They're also joined by Zach Gowen in February, around the same time as they begin courting Austin Aries, who is on a losing streak. Lacey eventually persuades Aries to go against Tammy Sytch in an attempt to get him to join AOTF.

We're now at ROH's Take No Prisoners PPV. Tyler Black wins a four corner survival which entitles him to an ROH World Title shot later that night against Nigel, which he loses but takes many plaudits for. Meanwhile, Aries reveals he has not joined AOTF - he's stolen Lacey from Jacobs. Jimmy responds by (allegedly) spiking Lacey outside a gym with Tyler Black and Joey Matthews present in their car. At this time the Briscoes relinquish their belts due to Mark's injury, resulting in AOTF winning a one night tournament to reclaim the titles, beating Steenerico. Two different combinations of AOTF also go on to lose one and win one against Steenerico in non-title matches following the tournament. Meanwhile, Austin Aries sets his sights on releasing Necro Butcher from Jacobs' power and the three get involved in a feud of sorts. Matthews and Gowen, having both lost respective matches for AOTF during this time, are not 'kicked out' but are not seen again after this point. Aries also defeats Jacobs in a match which means he can pick Jacobs' opponent for their return to that venue - he chooses Necro Butcher in a No DQ match.

AOTF defend the belts a few times (twice against Aries and Bryan Danielson) whilst Aries faces Jacobs and Necro in a threeway, with Necro's status in the AOTF uncertain. This should take you nicely into Death Before Dishonor - I wrote more but it only just dawned on me that this is as far as you need to go right now :)
