  1. Yes! Paul Nicholson has been my favourite since he beat Phil Taylor earlier this year- a true heel. It was the first time I'd heard of him (I only watch darts now and then) and his facials were class. A proper smug, antagonising villain.

  2. I really like those covers, DJ Kris. Just had a look at the thread, and you've got Randy Orton as the champion and Triple H as the challenger on your WrestleMania 25 one. It was the other way around.

Bloody hell, well spotted! We always used to jake that my covers were excellent but each one contained at least one error and it became a game trying to spot it. Like Where's Wally :D

Like where you have Bruno Sammartino VS Brutus Beefcake on the back of your Wrestlemania I cover? ;)

  3. Anybody watched Falling Skies yet? Doesn't start until 5th July here on FX but it started is the States a few days ago, really loved the first episode :)

Looks good, the missus has already set up the Sky+ for it I believe. I'm hoping someone makes a quality post-apocalyptic TV series soon, and I don't mean fucking zombies. A bit of a Fallout 3, Book of Eli and Mad Max hybrid. I'd love that. Make it happen HBO!

  4. My thoughts Chesty

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

I'm not upset that Bean is dead to be honest. He was very good in his role (to be fair, it's Sean Fuckin' Bean) and him being in this series drew me to it in the first place, but there was little more you could do with him. Plus, virtually EVERY other character in the series was better. Seriously, is there a bad character? At all? Everyone and everything is absolutely great. It's quite literally up there with The Sopranos based on the first series. Let's hope the second series continues with the same strength.

And it's a shame there wasn't more of Drogo killing people, but hey we have the Conan remake coming up soon

  5. Fucking awesome. There is SO much unresolved and they've also sowed the seeds for some new storylines already. So if they're starting filming next month, it's going to be ages until it's back on TV. That's going to seem like fucking forever, I need my fix now!

And for the benefit of those that will catch it later:

  6. I don't know about iPhone, but that sounds pretty good for a smart phone given the fact you use it that much for browsing. I have my HTC Hero on charge overnight and it drops to 'red' battery at around 8pm tonight.

Have just checked, it's only on 'amber' at the moment- soft warning- it's lasting a bit longer today. But yeah, I have to charge it daily without fail. Fucking smartphones. This has to be the next thing to concentrate on for engineers- increased battery life.

  7. Not really 'less commercial' as everyone will know who she is, but Claire Richards (former member of Steps) has done a naked photo shoot. She's put a few pounds on since her Steps days, but personally I think she still looks cracking. Nowt wrong with a woman with a bit of meat on her

That's actually the nicest pic I've seen of her. Never liked the look of her, but there's something about her here that makes you want to roll her in flour and aim for the damp patch.

  8. I want to copy some .pdf's over to my HTC phone. Where should I put them so that Adobe Reader on the phone will be able to see them? Ta.

they went into my sd card, it seems to find them just fine

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Adobe Reader (and also MS Office reader programmes) scan your phone and SD card to find files that can be opened.

  9. Can anyone recommend any decent free workout apps for the iPhone? I've just signed up to the gym and I'm essentially making note of what reps and weights I'm doing in the Notepad. I'm looking for an app that will do all of this in a more detailed way, and maybe a few extra things with it such as calorie consumption and all that.

Won't help you when it comes to logging reps for weights, but I recommend Noom. It is Calorific and Cardio Trainer combined. Calorific is a decent calory counting & consumption app whereas Cardio Trainer is a fantastic...err cardio app. Uses GPS when you're out on a run/jog/cycle/kayak/cross country skis (I'm not kidding) to determine distance, speed, climb and calculate number of calories burned. It is also set up for many, many other cardio-based activities and you can log historic workouts and they estimate the number of calories burned.

Edit: Not sure if it's available for iPhone, I would assume so as it is available for Android.

  10. How did pCc#1 lackey manage to get their name changed? As he/she joined 4 years ago and isn't a paid member. Did I miss another name-change thread?

I made a bet with Air Raid which turns out wasn't a good idea. I said The Miz would go over clean at Wrestlemania and he didn't the mods did the rest. Now I carry the bags and go to costa a lot. So basically the moral of the whole thing is Don't back your name on a wrestlemania moment and don't post weird shit on Gladstones comment things and don't bet with Air-Raid all these things go against you. Air-Raid did put his name on the line as well so the bet was all fair.

Aha, now this sounds familiar. What was your name before again?

  11. After watching all the media stuff between Haye and Klitschko over the past week, I'm even more determined to see Haye get knocked out. Klitschko is so frigging classy, whilst Haye is a petulant dick.

I fucking loved that Ringside special this week- fantastic yet surreal. Klitschko is hilariously crazy, the 'Borat-off' was bizarre and his 'shake my magic hand' thing was mental. Klitschko definitely came out looking better, Haye refusing to be near him whereas Wladimir wanted him there, although Haye looks as though he is taking this more seriously.

Terrific build-up though, although I have a soft spot all of a sudden for Klitschko you have to want a Haye win- purely in hope that they can then start to build a potential Haye/Vitali bout. I know Haye claims he will retire, but as if he's going to turn down a big payday VS Vitali, especially with an opportunity to become undisputed world heavyweight champion. That would ensue a fantastic climax to the Haye/Klitschko Brothers feud- which would prompt Sophie to say "This feud has been built superbly, I would end it with a big gimmick bout and move the workers onto new feuds".

  12. does anyone know what the original listings where on the wrestling channel ?

You mean what promotions were shown?

If so, I think it was something like this:

    TNA

    ROH

    CZW

    3PW

    NOAH

    CMLL

    FWA

    World of Sport

    Some Joshi fed

    IWW

Memphis Wrestling, I think that was there from the start. Possibly Classic Memphis too?

That's all I can think of from the top of my head, there might've been another one or two but the above were definitely shown when the actual channel first aired.

  13. Maybe they will do a Kliq VS BSK match at Mania- HHH, Diesel & HBK (in some capacity) on one side with Taker leading his team. Mark Canterbury's son is under development, so you could have both of them on the new 'father & son' series of NXT to bring him back onto the screens. Then the team can be complete with a fantastic surprise partner- BSK member and also the greatest surprise partner of all-time- Savio Vega. This=money.

    Or not.

  14. HHH/Taker is a huge step up from Barrett/Taker & HHH/Sheamus, that's for sure.

Sure, but then what do you do with Sheamus & Wade? Having spent the past year building them up, a Wrestlemania match for both of them against bona fide legends will do them good and also help the WWE for the future. But then we will be left without a massive 'draw' match for Mania. To be honest, unless they bring in a big name for a special attraction match, I don't think they should mix up the card too much. WWE is in transition and they should use this WrestleMania as a platform to help elevate their next big stars- especially as they've been pushing them to the moon over the past 12 months.

So we could end up with card of 'previous generation' VS 'new generation' stars:

    Cena VS Miz

    HHH VS Sheamus

Orton VS Punk (I know he's been around for a while now, but still)

    Taker VS Wade

    Mysterio VS Cody

    Edge VS Del Rio

That surely has to be better long-term than having Triple H/Taker & Cena/Orton, then the rest of the card full of the new lot against each other? This way they are getting the rub on the biggest stage from the biggest names.

  15. Of course how silly of me. That hard and fast rule that saw Booker T and Kevin Nash return. I stand corrected.

One-off spots in a forty man Royal Rumble for nostalgia, which WWE has been known to do in Rumbles with 10 less participants. Neither have wrestled since, one in fact has become an announcer and the other has signed a legends contract. I would be surprised to see either wrestle on PPV.

  16. I think given the gong at the end of the latest vignette, they'll be teasing it as 'Taker's return and it'll turn out to be Sting. And it will be the dullest thing that ever happened. Sting doesn't even work out regularly. He's in his 50's. And he hasn't had a good match in 10 years.

That said, he's met all the criteria for Vince signing him.

Despite the fact it has been revealed that WWE are only interested in signing talent under 30 now?

  17. If it IS Sting, someone will have to change that line on his Wikipedia article about being the most famous wrestler never to be in WWE :p

Just out of curiosity, to whom would that title now go to? Abdullah The Butcher?

It would have to be Big Daddy wouldn't it?

No! Big Daddy was a huge name over here, in the States nobody has a clue who he is. It's like saying Ridikozan. Massive name in Japan, again in the States only the smarts know who he was.

Is there a possibility that it could be La Parka?

Nah. Was on the save level in WCW as the likes of Psichosis, Juvi etc. Jobbers in WWE a few years ago. There's a lot bigger names in the western world of wrestling that have not graced the 'E.

I take it when discussing this, we're talking about living/active wrestlers? Otherwise surely the likes of Georg Hackenschmidt & Frank Gotch would own this. Or even Lou Thesz, or did he work for WWWF/Capitol or whatever they were known as at some point? Then again, are these names that are known today? Again, only smarts really know them- although Thesz has been name-dropped a bit over the years.

Anyway, the answer is clearly Davey Richards
