  1. Haven`t seen Hellraiser in a long time. seen parts 1 to 4.

I remember them being excellent movies, well wrote but fell into the something not quite right category, as in there was excellent storylines, excellent characters, decient gore for a horror, but they all just didnt seem to gel properly, like the movies were missing some sort of `IT` factor that would make them great.

But the planned remake, reboot in 3D I`m not holding my breath about.

  2. Repo - The genetic opera

When I searched for RepoMen (review further up the thread) I got `Repo - The genetic opera` a quick search on wikipedia, sounded interesting and I decided to give it a go.

Isn`t it truely amazing how through pure chance you can find a diamond.

I honestly Loved this film. Not liked, but actually LOVED this movie. It worked on so many levels.

It begins, again, in the not so distant future. With people dying due to a disease that destroys the bodys organs. GenCo arrives on the scene offering transplants to save the dying and at easily affordable prices. But if someone cant upkeep the payments then the body Parts bought can be repossessed and a visit from the RepoMan will take place (sounds familiar!).

So we follow the plight of a 17 year old girl who has to be kept indoors due to a blood problem, her over protective father (played by that guy who played Giles in Buffy), Gencos owner & his 3 weirdo kids (one who`ll just kill you, one who likes to have a face graft now and again and one who is addicted to transplants (played by Paris Hilton)) and the RepoMan. And how all their lives are interweaved.

But the twist is this is a Rock-Opera. An Honest to god musical. I think theres about 6 lines in the whole film that could be considered `spoken` all the rest are sung! In my opinion this is the up to date version of the Rocky Horror Picture show.

If you like gothic, Black lace, Corset, Blood, Meatloaf, Rocky Horror, Gore, Wacko films or any combination there of, you need to give this film a go. I realised within the first 5 minutes I was going to see something excellent. And I think everyone else needs to give it 5 minutes.

A cult classic that I am happy to be part of.

  3. RepoMen

Set in the not too distant future, a medical corporation builds and implants body replacement parts, from hearts to lungs, ears to eyes. they have developed a mechanical replacement for all. So people just pop in and buy what they need, new kidney, new liver, whatever. Unfortunently some cant afford the repayment for these parts. So the Repomen are called in to reclaim what they cant afford.

Jude Law is one of the best RepoMen. That is until he gets a heart transplant. Then realises he cant make the payments.

Its actually quite a good film. I enjoyed it. It flopped at the boxoffice and I understand why. Its a dark grainy film. Too much random gore for the mainstream public, especially in the medical sense (random gore hits the spot but medical is too much obviously). And unless you like Jude as a main character hes probably going to annoy the hell out of you.

    But I quite enjoyed it.

The ending I did see coming but having it come from the mid point rather than the start point was a nice dark twist.

And what an arsehole Jude`s character is. I personally would have busted the Vulture in the head and took back all the implants rather than hanging around trying to escape.

  4. I recall watching a documentery about the possibilities of aliens.

Imagine picking up a stone in the garden, you see bugs, a few ants and generally lower life form than us intellectual humans.

Do you stop and think how you would talk to them? Interact with them? or do you carry on doing the gardening?

Now imagine your an alien species travelling through space, somehow come across our planet. Now you can travel long distances, obviously your a higher intelect and life form than us mere humans.

Would you stop and think how you would talk to us? Interect with us? or would you carry on doing what you were doing?

  5. we`re (most of us anyway) are not falling for the fake wars, terrorist attacks and threat level increases. Another world war is too big for us to take on at the moment because, well theres noone left to fight. And any devistation from trying to annoy the Koreans is way too much even for the NWO to handle.

So what we going to do? We cant stimulate the economy, we`re not listening to the leaders cause they`re all ideots and we wont fall for a new threat because the last few havent worked too well.

    ALIENS!

Now imagine if an alien craft did land, or attack us! The western world would unite and ask for more `allies` to join in. Now we have a nice new world war for them to kill off the weak and control whats left with 100% grasp. And we all suddenly forget the failed attempts of the past.

The aliens are coming, they`re the only things we havent fought yet!

  6. What Dario Argenta films did you fellas pick up in poundland? I've got Deep Red, Tenebrae and Suspiria but I'd love to add more. Wonder if they'll do the same for this halloween.

    This Halloween they`re doing `classic horrors`

The Bat, Plan 9 from Outer Space (which I`m halfway watching!), The Killer shrews, The wasp woman, plus others.

Not a bad selection if your into that sort of thing. The only problem, as with the Argento stuff from last year, they come from older stock masters and so the quality and cut is normally sub-par.

    But for

  7. Be kind, Rewind

I went to the cinema to see this film. Dissapointed to say the least.

It was billed as a comedy, and yes there was some real good comedy moments, but about 1/2 way through the film it starts making a social standpoint and the ending is FAR too `statemently` making emotional attachments to small businesses and how big corporations are destoying local communities.

    Too much!

  8. The Island

Where the hell was i when this film came out? I remeber seeing trailors for it , but i cant actually remember it coming out.......was it straight to dvd? And if so.....WHY?

It was a massive flop, if I remember rightly.

I bought the dvd from poundland a while ago.

hollywood blockbuster released in poundland! Desperate to scrape some cash back me thinks.

  9. Directors Cut of RoboCop has a few alternative versions of scenes. Nothing monumentally different in terms of plot (unlike the depth it added to Aliens), but noticable if you're familiar with how it normally looks. They actually swear in the Directors Cut too, airhead.

The murphy shooting is incredibly graphic and over stretched but this was the point of the directors. He wanted you to feel so sorry for murphy you wanted him to die to stop the torture.

The ED209 killing is awsome. If you listen to the commentery the director mentions that they put as many blood bags in as they could find and it goes beyond brutal and comes out silly. Which was the whole point of the scene, unfortunently the censors didnt see it that way!

Certainly worth a look if you like complete films, and the trilogy box set is like

  10. Wankers have taken it down, so here it is again for anyone who's interested.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXuzrIN_x2M

Am i the only person here who's thinking they'd love to do something like that?

    Ish.

I'm well aware that I'm a considerable spaz when it comes to agility, so if the safety harness issue was revised I'd give it a go.

Its a bit like fucking a fat chick.

Its not the doing part thats the problem, its the falling off from height!

  11. The Last Exorcism

    shit, SHIT, SHIT

This film I wasn`t much looking forward to in the first place, the misses wanted to go see it. But I went with an open mind, its got Eli Roths name on the poster so I was expecting some nice gore stuff.

The film did have some good points and some really bad points but over all without a word of a lie, the end credits rolled and the entire audience, I I do mean the 50 odd folk that were in the cinema with us at the time, all, as if possessed ourselfs, uttered the words `that was shit!` that was scary.

<-- click on 'spoiler' to show/hide the spoiler

The film did start off well, very slow and some excellent back story about the main guy. I really liked that. Then once they introduced the second minister, by that time I wasn`t caring, it wasn`t going anywhere. Then It pulled me right back in, Stuff was happening, it was quite fun and seemed to be working real well. Then the giant plot hole opened up and it kinda stummbled again. When the camera was taken by her, and she killed the cat, they cleaned the blood off the thing and changed the screen but wouldn`t you rewind the tape and watch it back? these guys obviously didnt!

Then it was running again. It certainly wasn`t the big gore fest nor scare fest that it was being portraid as on the previews. Infact it was really boring, but I liked the psychological offering it was giving, the alternative view of the faith. It was OK. Then they all left and I thought well if it ends here it wasn`t great but its passable as a movie.

They pulled into the cafe to speak to the boy and headed back. Ok maybe now we`ll get the utter gorefest we`re all looking for. Demonic symbols on the walls, house in darkness, looking good. Then they head out into the woods and then, UTTER PISH!!! what the fuck was that shite? Demon baby? Satan in the fire! FUCK RIGHT OFF!

I have never had a movie so utter fucked in the last 2 minutes as this film managed. To take a film that was passable at best to becoming a fucking waste of my

  12. Dinner for Schmucks

Seen the trailer for this film?

    Then you`ve seen the film!

Its certainly not a bad film and in some places its actually quite good but it is a little bit `too out there` surreal wise, not in a Monty Python way, just generally too unbelievable.

I feel that if they had tried to keep a little realism in it and stopped the over the top scenarios it would have worked alot better. But its still a watchable 2 hours but not worth the cinema experience.

you will await the dvd because I have planted eggs in your brain!

  13. Scott Pilgrim vs the World

Just back from the cinema, I`m a little tired cause of work and i`m old so I`ll give what will be a negative review of this purely based on my tired, annoyed mood.

Dont get me wrong its a great little movie, good concept and very nicely done BUT I just didnt get it! theres loads to keep geek girls and boys happy, plenty of referencies to geeky things and a very nice opening `Universal` Logo which started off extremely well. I wont bother going into plot cause we all now what its about. The first fight was great even if a little `WTF!` that I was thinking, then the next 2 fights were copy and paste. That lost the momentum for me. BUT it did manage to pull it back with fight 4.

There was just so much going on I kinda lost interest. I`m old now, this film just showed me how old I am. Great views of what young folk think of nastalga but it wasn`t nastalga for me, it was young folk thinking it was nastalga. As I said the opening Universal logo and soundtrack was awsome to me but I do wonder just how many other younger folk actually truely understood it?

Theres meaning in the film but it wasn`t deep enough to keep me interested and it was too fast and furious for me to care.

Rating: I`m actually too old to like this movie

Get the dvd cause the cinema adds nothing to it

  14. Only seen a couple of shoot interviews and they were both from a good few years ago:

Christopher daniels: spoke about how he went for an acting job and didnt get one so took up wrestling instead. My impression of him is a complete ass up his own ass.

Kamala: came across as a dumb guy who made a few dollars doing wrestling. threatened Andre with a gun and got underpaid for working with taker. Nothing exciting and extremely boring.

Also i have the raven and Jim Cornette `secrets of the ring` series (i think its called) about how to be a wrestler! Havent watched it in years though!

But thanks for the heads up and i shall try and track down a few of the good mentioned ones.

And does `one night in china` count as a shoot? ;)
