  1. Jake was in fact shaved completely bald, which may have ballsed up plans SMW had for him, the other promotion he was worked regularly.

Actually, Cornette covered it really, really well. Jake was feuding with Tony Anthony and did a promo, bald, saying he'd shaved his head so he would know what it felt like to be Anthony (who was balding), to get inside his head.
  2. Holly Willoughby. Kids TV presenter.

You know, we were once distinctly promised a link to video footage of her getting her tits out on a bet during one of those kids TV shows. And this footage genuinely existed. The poster wasn't making it up. Honest.
Her tit popped out on Ministry of Mayhem once, if thats what you mean.

  3. The Undertaker, for conduct unbecoming a guy in his position. I mean, it'd be too easy to say Heidenreich, Mordecai & Snitsky (and wrong, in that last case), but those guys were in over their heads. The Undertaker has taken banner feuds and buried the guys he's been in with for no other reason than to protect a gimmick that no longer draws money.

  4. This whole production levels comment is such a grey area, it could be taken a number of ways.As a Promoter myself, I don't want pyro, a ramp, big letters up on the stage or six Americans getting the bums on seats. I promote a Scottish promotion, for Scottish fans and as an outlet for Scottish workers and "the best of the rest" around the UK to work and entertain the crowds we get. I'm not looking to run some sort of fantasy fed, where booking ability is overtaken by the fact 4 or 6 names are being brought in for absolutely no reason other than to get bums on seats.Looking at the bigger picture though, it's pretty obvious that the FWA are bigger and will remain so. In London, they have more possible fans than in the whole of Scotland. Even other major English Cities don't have the same pulling power on a prolonged basis. All I'm really looking at, or for, is a nice little 30 - 60 minute UK Scene magazine programme. TWC would take in tapes, even give their views on what production should be like and decide what to use...let's say they take 2 whole matches a week. Now, alongside that is a 5 minute segment giving who is running a show and where for that week. Something like this really shouldn't frighten the FWA and really shouldn't be a problem for TWC to show, indeed I'd think that they'd see it as a major part of their policy. Let's say that for the 2 shows TWC chose a match from, the shows both had crowds around the 200 mark. Well, that's 400 people maybe wanting to watch the show, watching TWC for more wrestling and everyone becomes a winner. The fact maybe 2,000 more Scots know SCW exists doesn't mean 2,000 more Scots will come and watch. In the same way that everyone in Torquay knowing there's a home match on Saturday doesn't mean that everyone in Torquay will go to the match. This is a perfect opportunity to get British wrestling on the whole to progress, it would just be nice to see it being done properly.

Its very rare i agree with Kenny, But a UK magazine show would be good, showing snippets, matches of other promotions. Its a good idea, that would work and would make a difference..
And it's very rarer that I agree with Gary. :D A magazine-style show, along the like of Joe Pedicino's Pro-Wrestling This Week or Samurai TV's Occupation of the Indiez would be a great start. Then, as the other promotios proved their worth, they would spin out into their own shows. Not weekly, maybe monthly or bi-monthly.I'd nominate the guys at WAR Videos to put such a show together. Great production values and an eye for great wrestling.
  5. When Classic guy was the last time you were at a non FWA british show? And what promotion, because the vision you have of UK wrestling is clearly different to everyone else.

He's told you - he knows about All-Star, K-Star and TWA.Okay, so one is unversally acknowledged to not represent current British Wrestling, another is a small offshoot of a kickboxing academy in Birmingham that rarely runs any shows, let alone publicise them, and the thrid ceased to exist a long time ago because the promoter made a mint and moved overseas.See?
  6. Just got off the phone to Alex Shane who wishes to address the negative feedback to the announcement made about our deal with the Wrestling Channel.A FULL statement can be expected in 48 hours from Alex however he and the FWA wish to stress that the deal between the FWA and The Wrestling Channel is not designed to hold back any other UK Promotions from putting out their product but in fact the nature of the deal is that the FWA's production standards etc will be used as a benchmark for anyother UK Promotion wishing to have content made available on the Wrestling Channel.Full Details can be expected on the deal but Alex was very keen to stress that the FWA were not going to hold a monopoly over the channel in ANY way however we going to ensure that any british promotion shown on the Wrestling Channel meets or exceeds the standards that will be set by the FWA to uphold the integrity of British Wrestling. He also apologises for the confusion over the earlier press release which when written was decided that that point would get across unfortunately it happens. Thanks for your TimeFWA Online Team

That's encouraging. Not as encouraging as it would be if the FWA weren't the vanguards of production standards, but it's a glimmer of hope, nonetheless. So, whether this was a climbdown or a misunderstanding, I say "well done".Now how about an open & fair submissions policy? Or am I asking too much? ;)
  7. But if another UK fed was shown, featuring a barely lit arena, complete with a crowd of 50 fans and 'Doink the Clown' in the main event, do you think that would be a good advertisement for British wrestling?

Totally agree with you on that... but what do you actually know about the British scene? Not much, if that's what you think it is...
  8. Well, there goes any pretension that The Wrestling Channel would be good for british Wrestling, and that the FWA cared about the business as a whole.

I had heard rumours of this for a while, and didn't want to believe them, but I knew it had to be true. What I am told is that Sean Herbert doesn't know much about British Wrestling, though, which this announcement confirms.

I had hoped that The Wrestling Channel would be built on a model like Japan's Samurai TV, which features action from all over Japan, as well as abroad. What this decision has done is close a TV outlet to everyone but the FWA's chosen ones.

Which I could understand if the FWA were the only ones producing both quality wrestling, and quality production. But they're not. I'm not knocking what the FWA do - it's good in places - but there are a dozen others who can match them in terms of action, and a handful who already have the facilities to match their production. GPW is actually using the same company, for Christ's sake!

What makes things even worse is the five year clause. Five years ago, the FWA didn't exist. Two years ago they found themselves at the center of Revival and things took off. What this clause means is that no promotion, even if they grow bigger than the FWA, can get TV on The Wrestling Channel for five years. Shocking.

The gossip is, of course, that the FWA insisted on this clause in return for a long term commitment to The Wrestling Channel. The gossip says that, yes, the FWA may secure a deal with a major channel, but to ensure that TWC would keep getting footage in addition to any major deal, the FWA insisted on this. Ehh, gossip is as gossip does, I guess.

Where does this leave GPW? EPW? ICW? IPW? SCW? BCW? FCW? WAR?

    You tell me.
