  1. I forgot Corden. Have never watched a single thing he's done on account of his fat gas-bag hamster cheeks being plastered over everything he's in, overshadowing any semblence of description or plot.

And I also forgot Alexander Armstrong. "Hello. I'm funny. I host HIGNFY and occasionally whore Pimms. Ha ha."

  2. Skool Daze was one of the most annoying games I've ever played. It was as hard as HTBACB.

Bonus points if you know/remember HTBACB on the speccy.

    Smash it

    Take it

"I'll go for the third one."

Secondly, I'm not surprised Vib Ribbon didn't chart, but quite saddened Grim Fandango didn't make the 50.

    Mine: (charts in bold)

    1. Final Fantasy VII (PS/PC) - A game that's near perfect to grow up playing. Cute as buttons with a grown up story and some genuinely nasty surprises at points- the most famous of which needn't be spoiled, although like The Sixth Sense you'll probably have heard what it is before buying it. It definitely isn't one for a quick ten-minute/lunch-break bash player, but the time pays off and the further you get into it the better that time looks from behind. The solution to all of life's problems isn't alcohol, it's a twelve-foot sword.

    2. Fallout 3 (PS3) - If this is what nuclear holocaust looks like, I'd better loot Age Concern for some vinyl. The going gets swift very fast, there's tones of atmos and side-plot, plus you can play it pretty much how you want to. Just don't make any plans for the next month or so.

    3. Resident Evil 2 (PS) - Four entire games in one of awesome and difficult violence. New characters, better plot, less pony acting.

    4. Grim Fandango (PC) - Death has never looked cheerier. Very charming, genuinely funny and not too hard.

    5. Guitar Hero 2 (PS2) - The first had a few better songs, but the second is easier and more fun to play; Just hard enough to want you to practise and it doesn't make you want to smash the plastic guitar until Psychobilly Freakout. And while we're on the subject we're an entire seven games into the series and STILL. NO. STAIRWAY!!!!! ... even if it would be easier than most, it'd be nice to see ;)

    6. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2) - The best of the series in my opinion. Not a great deal to do besides the main story, but enough to keep you prowling the streets to music you never listened to in school ;)

    7. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (PS) - A game that needed a strong voice cast to get over, and got it in spades. The score's damn good too, and fighting is pretty tricky if you're not good at dodging/blocking. Pretty hard pretty quick, but the rewards for exploring the landscape are worth the trouble.

    8. Doom II (PC) - The longer you can resist the temptation to save after every difficult skirmish, the better it gets. More music that sounds like it was ripped from your metal collection, better enemies and a last boss that will make you want to cry.

    9. Final Fantasy VIII (PS) - The story's pretty good, although it starts to tail off late on but that isn't too important with a few neat subplots; It's pretty easy to get sidetracked and there's more side-stuff on offer than LEVELLING!!1111ONE. One of the better boss fights happens fairly early on under 'exam' conditions. Also the first in the series where you'd want to bone the entire female cast, if you're into.. um.. *whistles*

    10. Manhunt (PS2) - GORRRRRRR... ahem. Controversy definitely helps, but once your character gets tooled up it kicks into overdrive. Quite funny in the nuthouse levels, which makes playing with a headset all the more hazardous.

    11. Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PS) - Just when the games started getting too short (ONLY seven Arcade mode fights? how very dare you!) The PS version pulls a master-stroke with its World Tour mode. Training your character up into an unfair advantage has rarely been more fun (and scenic) since.

    12. Vib Ribbon (PS) - Simple, twee game that lets you make levels with ANY. COMMERCIAL. CD. EVER. I recommend the South Park Movie OST and "La Resistance" for the sheer "AAAAAGH!" factor.

    13. Super Metroid (SNES) - Bucketloads of atmosphere. The deeper you got into the game the more marauding it looked and sounded. Inventive levels and fights with a superb score. And the prize for finishing in under 3 hours? rawwwwwwr.

    14. Super Mario World (SNES) - A definitive launch salvo for the 90s. Quite a lot of variety in gameplay, looks and music, and -for the first time- you needed to play the same level up to 3 times to truly discover the best the game had to offer.

    15. Silent Hill (PS) - Survivor horror gone back to basics. You're limping around town at night with next to no ammo and all of a sudden your radio gets static. There aren't many scares more spontaneous.

  3. Yay, my Number 2 and quote \0/

Although, the picture at the bottom of FF8 is actually from either FF7 or Dirge of Cerberus, as it shows Vincent Valentine. Minor point, but :p

    Thanks for doing this :D

It's from dirge of cerberus. Curse my working too fast!

    the replacement's somewhat better :D

  4. What story is this then?? please do tell as I have no idea who this Lexx is but I'm intrigued now.

Lexx, a female wrestler (and semi-frequent poster on these boards) allowed her then-partner to photograph her in a compromising situation. Said douche then made the photo public and it has done the rounds since, before the forum sided with her and agreed not to mention it again.

  5. Just finished reading Where Eagles Dare by Alistair Maclean- I'd lost it in a huge pile of jumble and thought I'd never find it again. If only my copy of FFVIII'd turn up somewhere in the same vein...

Currently going back to The Great Shark Hunt (Hunter S. Thompson)- an enormous comp of his writings. Quite a heavy read.

  6. Toxicology report now on Fox (510)- short version:

Nancy had 'normal' levels of hydromorphone, hydrocodone & Xanax in her system (therapeutic dosage, more likely for muscle relief)

Daniel had 'elevated' levels of Xanax, stating that he was drugged before the murder

Chris had elevated levels of testosterone (hence he had been taking steroids recently) and 'normal' levels of Xanax. No other steroids in his system.

In short, proof that Chris Benoit had drugged Daniel specifically to sedate him. Plenty of stuff for Fox to jizz over but nothing conclusive to lynch Astin or the WWE over.

  7. I have actually been reading this thread on and off since it started and hadn't read anything relating to wikipedia - i obviously missed whatever else was posted.I would post something sarcastic - but why bother - you quit clearly have enough wit and cynicism for both of us.

Seriously, nobody is having a go for no reason, but the Wiki thing has been covered a lot, on the last few pages no less. People are just trying to stop this thread getting bogged down with repeats of the same thing. OK?
Well then, Mods, let's just call it a day and Gold this thread so that any genuine news can be posted unhindered.
  8. Taking people off the road won't help. That's the reason that some people suggest TNA has a worse recreational drug problem than WWE - the guys just have too much spare time. The only thing that will help most of those issues is serious regulation including random zero-level testing and medical suspensions for injured wrestlers. Regular counselling would make a difference for a lot of guys too, as the psychological impact of being "on" 24/7 is seemingly pretty tough.

I know someone mentioned it before, but what would you think about having an off season? Like the Premiership or any other sport really. Say the three months in between Summerslam and Survivor Series for example. I the context of actual sports, the "season" should finish at Mania and come back in time to build for Summerslam - but that wouldnt work cause there would be no point in cutting off at Mania when the ratings are generally the highest. Even if they were to alternate which show was having its off season. ECW could stop at Wrestlemania for example, Raw at Summerslam and Smackdown at Survivor Series. They would have to take the brands seriously though and not allow inter brand jumping. Like, its not good taking Raw off the air for 3 months only to have Cena and HHH jump to Smackdown for the off season. I havnt put much thought into it, but does anybody think it would work?
Disregarding the obvious reason it won't happen for just a second that's a sound shout provided the wrestlers aren't roped into switching brands (as you say)- however the WWE would again be no slave to a force-of-circumstance where all of the main-eventers of one brand will be completely twatted whilst another was taking a break. They'd also make sure they can guarantee that only ONE brand will be off at any particular time, and - somewhat boneheadedly - neither of the two active brands will benefit from the slack time the 'resting' brand, even if it was a '2-night, 2-part' Raw where pretty much everybody the brand can get TV time (even if it's just promos). The obvious reasons it won't happen- Vince loves squeezing cash out of everything he's got. If any one of the brands weren't profiting at any one time he'd rather can it altogether than give it 3 months off to freshen things. Also, this is three months- ONE FULL QUARTER of a year that the shareholders will see a big fat blank space representing one brand....
  9. Just a quick question guys I thought I would put here. Isn't Scott Keith the biggest Benoit fan around? Is he currently working with a website or made any kind of comment to what has happened? I have read a couple of books and if I remember correctly Benoit was his all time fave.

    Scott's response is here.
  10. I am not sure if anyone has menioned this posibility as of yet, but I dread the strong chance of WWE using some of this in a storyline ala Eddie.

Somehow I don't see his wife showing up.
They wanted transparency in Smackdown's General Management but I believe this is taking it a bit far...
