  1. The first (Edge of Tomorrow) is one of the best Sci Fi action films I've seen in years. It truly is fucking tremendous. Blunt and Cruise are amazing together.

I was one of the those people who didn't see it on it's initial release and only got around to watching it on DVD. I won't be making the same mistake again.

With Doug Liman coming back to direct the sequel my hopes are extremely high for it.

  2. Here's yesterday's Bellator NY press conference. I've only just seen snippets so far, and despite Sonnen being unbearable these days, I thought he delivered really big yesterday. What I found most fascinating was Sonnen openly talking down to Fedor whilst sitting right next to him.

  3. they must have been talking with relation to how lax it all it is then, fishy shit.

I think it's also due to the NYSAC still being in it's infancy when it comes to MMA as well. I can't envision them randomly testing Bellator's fighters at this early stage.

California really are leading the way in terms of athletic commissions when it comes to the sport and the way it's ran.

  4. For me it started years back with the Dark Knight trailer. The scene when Gordon is stood there with the Mayor whilst the Joker is locked in a cell features prominently, and when it came around to watching the actual movie, Gordon is perceived to be dead at the half way point. It took me right out of the film until the scene in question materialised.

  5. i heard somewhere the other day (believe it was on the MMA Hour) that they were surprised it was in NYC. I was lead to believe that they believed the NYSAC were overly strict and wouldn't take any messing from Sonnen/Silva. I may have heard wrong though.

Compared to California, the NYSAC are a breeze. Sonnen was subjected to relentless testing for his fight with Ortiz, but admittedly it was also due to his failed test in California after his first fight with Anderson Silva.

This was from Helwani's twitter account and his discussions with Scott Coker:-

"Coker says they are abiding by the NYSAC's drug testing procedures. Unfortunately that response didn't fly 5 years ago, let alone in 2017."

  6. It's a shit thing to say, but I hope they both come in juiced to the gills for this one. Sonnen obviously isn't the same off TRT and Silva has probably been juiced since birth. The fact the NYSAC doesn't have a stringent testing system in place makes me hopeful they may sneak past the tests.

  7. It wasn't the length that was the issue for me, just more so the fact he won an Oscar for it.

As mentioned he was very good, but his performance didn't scream Oscar for me.

That said, I've seen him an awful lot in House of Cards and Luke Cage and he's brilliant in both and maybe I just had my expectations too high.

  8. My wife and I got around to watching Moonlight at the cinema last night.

Whilst I thought it was very good, beautifully shot with great performances, I found that the subject matter along with its setting was more important and better in a way than the actual film.

What bizarrely stood out to me was Mahershala Ali's performance. Going into it I obviously knew he won best supporting actor yet he's only in it for 30 minutes and nothing what I saw really stood out as Oscar worthy. Don't get me wrong he was very good, but I didn't find much about the role requiring him to stretch his acting chops.

  9. Here's the Deadpool teaser, lads.

Not sure where the fuck this was for me but it wasn't on during my screening yesterday.

Outside of this annoying news, Logan was just spectacular. The greatest comic book film ever? I was thinking about this today and I'm currently thinking yes.

That said it's made me re-think my criteria as part of what I deemed essential was re-watchibility. With how intense and emotional Logan is I'm not sure it's a movie I could watch over and over like the Avengers.

However, within that one sitting it moved me unlike any other comic book film I've seen.

I sincerely hope come next year's Oscars that Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart are given nominations. I also thought the rest of the cast were fantastic with Boyd Holbrook particularly brilliant.

  10. I got tired of GSP's plan spiel personally. Stock level this and that.

He mays well say "yes, I'm fucking terrified of Yoel."

I actually found Bisping's gripe with GSP organic to be honest despite prior reservations from myself. There's no doubt GSP thinks Bisping is the easy fight and is the only reason why he's stepping up to middleweight and Bisping should rightfully be pissed off.

I actually found myself really behind Bisping with everything he said. GSP just talked utter shite.

  11.

GSP entered the bookies odds as favourite & Bisping is (was?) evens. Anyone else surprised at that? I expected fans to favour GSP but I think they're good odds to whack a tenner on Bisping.

Risk a tenner to make one? Might as well just leave it alone.

May as well never place a bet then.

  12. No, I've never seen him fight before. Is he any good? Deary me.

I'm not taking anything away from his skills, Bisping is a great Fighter, I just think GSP is better everywhere.

Regarding the wrestling, GSP doesn't have a college background granted, but it's widely acknowledged that his wrestling is up there with some of the best in the game. We've heard that countless times in the Past.

If it were to stay on the feet, I see Bisping getting jabbed to death. For me, GSP has the advantage everywhere.

I don't necessarily disagree with how you see the fight going, but I was taking exception to you dismissing Bisping completely.

You're correct about GSP's wrestling. There is a distinction between MMA wrestling and amateur wrestling, and GSP is one of the best of all time in MMA wrestling. But, the guys I mentioned are far bigger than GSP and for Bisping to nullify more powerful wrestlers than GSP, then GSP is going to find it a lot harder to take a man who once fought at light heavyweight down compared to the older guys he faced at a weight 15llbs lighter.

Furthermore GSP post surgery was a different beast compared to what he was pre surgery and you also need to factor in that he hasn't fought in several years and is now older.

For me, the fight is a coin toss in which I slightly favour Bisping due to being bigger and possessing the better footwork.

  13.

You're as stiff as a board, Llamby.

Outside of GSP doing a Rockhold and totally underestimating Bisping, I see no real way Bisping wins. A slight size advantage granted, but GSP is far too good everywhere to be troubled for me. Bisping's biggest asset is his cardio, and I just don't see that as a problem for GSP.

Have you ever watched Bisping before? I'm being serious here.

From what you're saying, the only thing Bisping is good at is cardio? Bloody hell.

Bisping has impeccable takedown defence. Watch his fights with Chael Sonnen & Rashad Evans in particular. Both of those guys are far bigger and much more accomplished wrestlers than GSP, and both struggled to get Bisping to the mat.

If Bisping avoids the takedown, then it comes down to how they do on the feet. Bisping is a far more accomplished striker than GSP as well.

Personally, I think it's hard to call as it all depends on how well Bisping can avoid the takedown. If he keeps it standing, and history says he will, Bisping holds the advantage.

  14. As with Jim above, I'd would prefer to see Bisping vs Romero and GSP vs Mcgregor. I would also prefer that GSP make 155llbs for it to be for the title.

However, the problem in all of this is GSP saying he's not interested in titles. By this he means he has no interest in defending the belt if he wins it.

  15. Looking at the layout, the £75 tickets seems good value for the view that you will be getting. It's the first MMA fight card in a while in this country I've been tempted to go to, and I think that's a huge achievement for Bellator (assuming that there are fans over here in a similar boat to me).

  16. Whilst I see little elements of boxing coming into MMA, when it comes down to it, it will never be like boxing as long as the UFC brand is above the sport of MMA. The UFC maintain that structure boxing just doesn't have.

We can talk all we want about the Mcgregor effect, yet no one else is Conor Mcgregor. We've never had it before, and who knows, we may never see it again. It's just a rare thing in combat sport, someone with the gift to sell a fight, yet can also back it up in the cage/ring. Fighters looking at him thinking they can have the same treatment as him have to be able to prove it before making any sort of demand.

For me, what's driving a lot of these demands is the 4.2bn WME paid for the UFC. Fighters now know a value that the company needs to attain to, and they also know that WME paid a shit ton of money using a huge loan. WME have to produce results to satisfy their shareholders whilst paying off the huge interest on the loan that was taken out.

  17. Could they not just do Bisping/GSP as a regular Middleweight fight, rather than it being for the title?

The way around it would be doing it at a catchweight, say 180llbs.

  18. That would be the perfect scenario. I honestly don't see GSP being much different than when he left. Look at the way Cruz came back and Korean Zombie from similar periods of time out. He's not past it in age, and didn't take a heap of punishment in his career. If the mind is 100% willing, then I think his body will be capable of producing.

One of the main reasons GSP decided to step away was due to the damage he took post surgery. I remember reading about some weird shit he was coming out with as well.

    This was GSP post Hendricks:-

What I don't like about the whole thing is GSP not being interested in championships, and simply wanting Superfights. He's come out stating he's not interested in the Welterweight title and Firas Zihabi says it's Mcgregor and Bisping that interests him.

In all honesty, GSP involved in non-championship fights (or at least not against the best possible opponent) doesn't interest me in the slightest. The whole intrigue about GSP for me was him proving he's the best. His style isn't the most eye catching, and he's not the best in hyping a fight either.

The one thing that terrifies me is imagine if he does go against Bisping and wins? Then what? Feed him to Yoel Romero? Jacare? Rockhold? Fucking hell,  that's absolute insanity.

That said, if he could make 155llbs, I'd be a lot more interested.
